Schnettler's obviously dropped well below that % standard, although if you're arguing in terms of a combination of accuracy and prolificity it probably comes down to either Schnettler or Connor Whitman (who currently has 96 treys and counting to Schnettler's 113, but made them at a better rate than the Tommies senior).

For just a .3% increase in efficiency I'd rather have the kid who's made 21 more, I'd say.

That's a legitimate point in Schnettler's favor. If Whitman were to reach Schnettler in both makes and attempts he'd be shooting 17-37 in order to do so ... and while 45.9% isn't up to his standards, it's still pretty good.

I think you can make a convincing argument in Schnettler's favor. But I don't see any conclusive statistical evidence that he is "the best shooter in D3 basketball." He's definitely on the short list of guys for whom you can make the argument, but I don't see it as being conclusive ... any more so than the assertion someone else made about his having the quickest release in D3. How in the heck do you prove that?

I'm not trying to prove it. I'm just pointing out where they probably came up with the idea that he might be. Proving it is someone else's problem. :)

UST has apparently decided to offer a ticket presale:

Just like last week, there will be an on-campus presale of tickets Thursday and Friday, between 8:30 and 4 p.m., in Room 220 O'Shaughnessy Hall (south end of athletic building). Tickets are all general admissions, and are $6 for adults and $3 for students. Gates will open at 5:30 p.m., and tickets will also be available at the door Saturday. Note that because this is an NCAA event, no passes will be honored (MIAC or Minnesota HS Coaches). Since either potential opponent is located out of the area, we do not expect the kind of ticket demand we saw for two recent games vs. rival St. John's.

DP...no not killing the Toms with kindness...just calling like I see it...by the way I was talking talent with this team of Toms vs the 94 crew who I never saw and really have no knowledge of...just talking to Fritz I sensed they might be the best collection of talent he has had...

I have not heard much of a scouting report on Loras, other than what DP suggested, it should be an interesting game tomorrow night at Sexton...hopefully the J's get it turned around so the bandwagon can cross the border.  I am a little worried that the Loras staff has some MIAC roots, knowing the love for the Johnnies in the conference ::), I imagine scouting reports have made their way to the Duhawks and some things that might have taken them by surprise won't tomorrow night...

I would think Loras will have to come up tonight, because of the impending blizzard headed our way...hopefully that will not change anything regarding the tourney...but it might keep the crowd down, that and its spring break in collegeville, which might make it a neutral court game more so than home court advantage for the J's

VOJ, with a head coach that has Concordia roots and an assistant from UST, you think they might have access to some information on the Johnnies.  ;D ;D

Scouting report I had from someone who has seen both teams, says if the J's play the way they are capable of they should win. That is a mighty big if though!

immediate answer, bumblebee.

although really it depends.

1. define "big"
2. I've been through the mosquito one.  If it is all in one area, it aint so bad, if it is all over your body, that's definitely worse.

classic case of quantity vs quality.  I pick quality almost everytime.

With the talk of League Awards, I thought now would be a good time to broach this topic (though Im sure its been brought up in previous seasons): Anyone else think the league should break up the all conference team a little? Say, at least two teams instead of just one. Its not really a big deal, i just think it would better represent player achievement. Case in point, DeRock and Conboy last year. Those two didnt play at a level comparable to say, Forkrud and TeBrake, but were given the same accolades. I think it would be prudent to separate the performance of those who challenged for MVP, or carried their teams, from those players who maybe flourished on a subpar squad, or rode the coattails of a teammate. I think honoring 15 players is very much accurate; Id just like to see some strata within that group, to more accurately reflect the season.

One all conference team from playoff teams and another from non playoff teams? 10 on the former team and 5 on the latter....for arguments sake?

It should be 1st Team, 2nd Team, and 5 honorable mentions.  15 All Conference players is stupid.
