Bandwagon is getting ready to roll to Wiscy! I suspect with the latest modifications Fins put on (the Tapper) we will blend right in! ;D

Maybe I'm a little jittery, but I remember the 94-95 UST team racking up a 27-0 record, only to lose 94-74 at The Shoe (after a snowstorm) to a Nebraska Wesleyan team that few gave a chance. That year, SJU also made the NCAA and lost at UW-Platteville (UW-P went on to win it all). I'm sure Fritz & Tauer will remind this year's team about that loss-- repeatedly.

Someone, I think DP, asked and after considerable thought, I'd rank this year's UST up there with the 93-94/94-95 team (essentially the same core of players- Tauer, James, Longval & Bergan) and the 1989-90 team (Thompson, Batta & Schneider) as the best of the Fritz coaching era. Those all pale in comparison to the Fritz/Rosier/Tamble/Fitzpatrick/Mikan/McKee powerhouses of 1967-74.
After the game, the king and pawn go into the same box.

Mose - you keep ratcheting up the pressure on these Toms.  Wait until they make a national run, before you start comparing them to the Tommie greats from the past. ::) ;) Karnell James, now there was another great Tommie guard.  After the season is over we should start a post about best Tommy guards ever - James, Buri, Roddy, ??

From what I can tell, this is a very, very quick Carroll club that exploited their speed advantage over Augustana.  Think UWRF with more talent.

Drake, if you remember Roddy, you are OLD!!!  :)  ;D :) Billy had one of the sweetest shots I've ever seen, very Schnettler-esque..more athleticism, but not as quick as BS (SJU4Life--you can read that as "much better than Westman":) ) He played on some crappy teams in Feely's final years of coaching, but man, could he shoot! I saw him not long ago, and he looked ready to step on the court and hit 9 or 10 threes in a row. James was beyond thrilling to watch play. I think even opposing coaches were awed by what he could do-- and sometimes that showed during games he was beating them! I'd argue he was the best player in MIAC history.

Is there a record for biggest point spread between two consecutive games by one player.  Westman goes for 0 last Saturday and 31 last night.  Kudos for not letting the worst game of your life bring you down.  Nice to see the J's win.

Hunh- I guess that makes me about as old as you - dirt bowl era!   :-* ;D

Roddy's a little before my time.  I only heard of his escapades for the Tommies years later in pick-up ball. I would disagree with you on quickness - no way is Sensei quicker than Roddy in his prime. Roddy was fast in his 30s.

SUMMIT!!!!!

Different types of quickness, Drake...BS's quickness is in his pull up and release, Billy's was more of an overall athletic quickness- reaction, movement and speed on the court. He was nearly as fluid as James.

<back to the present> How full will The Shoe be tomorrow? Im guessing 1400 in attendance.

Yeah because you lost the quickness argument.  ;)

I've still got too much snow to shovel, where's Bumkneez with his scouting report on Carroll?

Something on the Dose got me to thinking.  I was wondering what percentage of d3 schools from each state made it into the tournament.  So I did the math and here are the results.  Note: I used only schools eligible for post-season play (if they were eligible, but declared elsewhere, they are still included in the overall totals because I didn't have a list of those).

Kentucky - 66.7% (2 of 3)
Washington DC - 50% (1 of 2)
Missouri - 40% (2 of 5)
Maryland - 33.3% (3 of 9)
New Hampshire - 33.3% (2 of 6)
Mississippi - 33.3% (1 of 3)
Connecticut - 28.6% (2 of 7)
Michigan - 28.6% (2 of 7)
Virginia - 26.7% (4 of 15)
Rhode Island - 25% (1 of 4)
Tennessee - 25% (1 of 4)
Washington - 25% (1 of 4)
Massachusetts - 19.4% (7 of 36)
Ohio - 18.2% (4 of 22)
Iowa - 18.2% (2 of 11)
Minnesota - 15.3% (2 of 13)
New Jersey - 14.3% (2 of 14)
New York - 13.0% (7 of 54)
Pennsylvania - 12.8% (6 of 47)
Indiana - 12.5% (1 of 8 )
California - 10% (1 of 10)
Illinois - 9.1% (2 of 22)
Wisconsin - 8.2% (2 of 23)
Texas - 6.3% (1 of 16)

Alabama (0 of 1)
Colorado (0 of 1)
Deleware (0 of 1)
Louisiana (0 of 1)
Nebraska (0 of 1)
West Virginia (0 of 1)
Arkansas (0 of 2)
Georgia (0 of 4)
North Carolina (0 of 4)
Oregon (0 of 5)
Vermont (0 of 5)
Maine (0 of 10)

there's some interesting stuff out there.  holy pennsylvania and massachusets, batman! 83 D3 schools between the two, I had no idea.  On tat same board there is a cool tournament history breakdown of teams by appearance.

2007/08 d3 National Pick'em Runner-up.

Alright then, be that way.   I was going to trade you "keys to the game" for the scouting report but...  :-*
