Itd be a stalemate of desire (which sounds like a late night Cinemax title), not an athletic competition....

Stalemate of Desire 2 was on the other night. The plot wasn't quite as good as the first.

Thats what I was thinking too, although not so much with Abe.

If he was noticeably quicker than El Amin that would be something!

Yeah, OS, Gio can scoot. I think hes the only guy who could give El-Amin a run for his money, in terms of quicks, in the WIAC. Well, Gibson is probably close behind those two, right?  :D

I think Woldeslassie is the quickest guy Ive ever seen on a basketball court at the collegiate level. The only guy I ever saw who could keep up with Abe was, and for the Tyler Westman fans on the board this name might ring a bell, Truc Ho. Felt like somebody locked the turbo meter for that pickup game-it was a one man fast break each way. Well, until each one of them dribbled too far into the paint and, predictably, got beat. Such is the life of the 5'7". Lots of shook ones though, which was fun to watch (being that I never was one of the embarrassed).

Found a link to the Massey Ratings. Its a pretty complicated formula, certainly more so than the QOWI calculation process. Not that being more complicated makes it more accurate, but those in the know (PC, TQ, etc) have referenced the Massey at different points of the season. Updated as of March 4th.

Some MIAC, and other relevant teams, rankings:
UWSP #1, UWL #4, Carroll #7, Augustana #13, UST #19, SJU #49, Loras #18, Occidental #35, Bethel #77, UWRF #104, St Olaf #118, Carleton #123, Gustavus #135, Macalester #156, Ursinus # 191, Augsburg #223, St Marys #239, Hamline #250, Concordia Moorhead, #284

Also, the MIAC is listed as the 13th toughest conference.

Bethel won in the first round of the NCAA's tonight against River Falls.  Once again +K for everyone!

Freebird

In hockey that is.

This may be are first win in anything in the NCAAs.  Big step for us.  Football playoffs here we come  ;)

and basketball for that matter  :)

AO

I saw some pictures of the river falls arena, and it looked packed to the gills.  Great win for Bethel, and the MIAC as well for beating the top WIAC team in the playoffs.

so now that the season is over does anyone know any of the high school players in the area that may be showing some interest if not committed to any of the MIAC teams??

If some of us hadn't run Local Coach off, he'd be filling our ear with the latest prep tidbits & rumors.  :'( ;)

In the meantime, May 1 is the annual "soft" deadline for enrollment.  Although as we know, players have been known to walk away from 100-250.00+ reservation deposits as a change of heart may occur later on in the spring & or summer.

Cmob – the one MIAC recruit that I'm currently aware of you may have a special interest in.  PG Tyler Nicolai of #1 ranked Hopkins has supposedly narrowed his choices of schools down to UST & Carleton.   About a month ago I saw him at one of the Tommies' games.  And as we both know, the  Tommies Carlies & Knights could very well be in the market for a quality PG next year.  He's a slightly taller & heavier (still skinny though) version of Abe W. with a similar type of game.  Jets for wheels, decent shot, & nice potential to be a good PG.  I've not seen him play a lot, but I think he would be a nice MIAC type PG.  Possibly on the same scale as Jon Cassens over at Augsburg.  Nicolai is quicker, Cassens is bigger.

I've also heard of a quality D1/D2 transfer coming back to the area, but from the sounds of it, he won't be donning a uniform for any of the MIAC schools.  There's a slight chance of it still happening, but I'll wait to see how the transfer dust settles before I comment. :-* ;D

Yeah, it should be a heated battle between Coach Kalland and Coach Peterson to bring that guy to Northfield, right Drake;D Youre spot on with Nicolai, he could be a very good PG in this league, and would be a nice grab for either UST or Carleton. Similar situation to 05 and 06, when Drake and Johnson had narrowed their choices to UST and Carleton. Of course, Nicolai isnt looking at his position and seeing an All American, a DII transfer, and a 3 year starter all in front of him like those 2 did. The "youll start here, youll hardly play there" card is out the window this year for Carleton, so maybe Nicolai sees the Tommies as a better fit and bucks the trend.

Question for those that have been through the process....How did you make your final determination on which school to go to? Was the academic side more important that the sports or vice-versa?

If you had a chance to attend a school that may not have had the academics you were looking for, but you would have started/played right away would you have gone there?
