Of course it was silent. The Tennessee Titians need absolute quiet so that they can concentrate while they're painting chubby naked women in Italian Renaissance style.

were you people aware that Jake Philipps and Abe W. were the only two members of the MIAC to win spots on the d3hoops all-week teams this season?

the UMAC had just as many kids receive that nod.  Duransky from Morris and some sophomore from northwestern.

I have therefore concluded that the UMAC is as talented as the MIAC.  that's math.

Concordia of the north...get some help, I understand the state of Minnesota has excellent rehab facilities...like Hazeltine...Yes the top of the UMAC might be able to hang for a bit with the middle of the MIAC, but please don't insult us...get the automatic berth and then lets talk...next you will tell us whoever wins the football conference title deserves to be first round fodder for the J's or whoever wins the MIAC in the football playoffs...come on get real

should we trade the umac st. mary's and augsburg for northwestern and st. scholastica?

I know weve talked about the relative disconnect between what goes on during the season and what is reflected in the polls, but it is worth noting that UST finished 10th in the final Top 25 poll released yesterday. Im relatively surprised SJU was not listed amongst the Top 25, though they were in the middle of the pack for "Others Receiving Votes" (their 16 pts good enough for, essentially, 41st place).

How does the old adage go – "he who lives in a glass house shouldn't throw stones."

In looking over last year's results, both Augsburg & SMU doubled up the Cobbs in the win column. The Cobbs finished the year with a dismal 4-21 record (4-16 conference), while the Dawgs finished a respectable 10-15 (7-13 conf.) under 2nd year coach Aaron Griess.  It should also be noted that Augsburg swept the season series with CC.  The Redbirds of SMU finished with an 8-16 record, 7-13 in conference play & split with the Cobbers.  If I recall, earlier this year, some folks on this board were touting the Cobbs & predicting they would make the playoffs.

For the Cobbs' sake, I hope they can fill the holes at the guard spots next year.

Now if you're talking football, a totally different story. The Cobbs are traditionally one of the powerhouse programs in the league.

Now if you'll excuse me, ahem,  I think I have a meeting over at Williams arena over the noon hour!  ;) ;D

1st- Concordia men's basketball has made the playoffs 2 of the last 4 years reaching the semis once.  aug and mary's 0 times in the last, what, 3000 years? (was George's sr. year the last trip? that makes it a decade+ hiatus)

2nd- Concordia's overall athletic program is what qualifies them to be members of the miac.  aug has wrestling, st. mary's has nothing that i know of. concordia has football, volleyball, women's bb, soccer, and baseball all competing at the top of the conference year in and year out.

of course, men's bb is the most important.  but i think it would be very fair to say that taking an all-cobber team over the last 5 years and pitting it against an all-aug/mary's team over the same stretch would result in a big cobber victory.

Wanted to know if someone could give me a little info on the Leuer kid from Orono. Ive seen him play once, and he struck me as a similar high school player to Brian Butch (face up '4' player, can hit from the outside, lacks strength, no real discernible post game). I mention Butch because Leuer is committed to the Badgers, and I see Leuer possibly filling a Butch type role for UW in a couple years. Considering his physical stature, and Bos penchant for redshirting almost every big thats come through the program, I dont think Leuer will make any sort of immediate contribution. But his skill set seems ideal for Ryans swing offense, which is no doubt why Bo went after him as hard as he did. Im interested to get the opinions on his college prospects from some who have seen the kid play more than I have, specifically his ball skills, mental makeup, and rebounding.

concordia - Augsburg's Tommy Chatman years were nothing to scoff at. They went 9-1 the first time through the schedule before imploding in classic Ammann fashion. I believe they made the playoffs as a 3 or 4 seed, though.

It's not too much of a stretch to say the Auggies have had as much success (or more) as the Cobbers in the past 10 years. I'm too lazy to accumulate the records, but maybe someone has the time...
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

concordia of the north

since Aug's last George year they have won 62 miac games, Mary's has won 46, and the Cobbs have won 67.

So the Cobbs win (barely).  I don't know augsburg's history very well before 2002, but it seems that they have won as many games as they should have whereas the 2006 season would have likely seen the cobbers win approximately 10 more conference games barring the horrendous string of injuries they suffered.

hypothetically then, it would put them at 77, 62, and 46 respectively (that's no assuming any of the cobber's theoretical victories would have come against either of these teams).

as a matter of interest, over that same stretch Bethel won 102 conf. games, and st. thomas won 126.

i picked those two teams as bethel seemed a good representative of that just-below-the-gold squad and st. thomas stood for something obvious...

Over the last 9 years (MIAC website only goes back that far) CORD is 70-110 for a % of .388 while AUG is 82-98 for a % of.455. CORD has finished higher in the standings 4X AUG 3X and they were tied twice!
