Drake....you are correct, we really don't know how some of these players will fare once they reach the big time; for the Gopher's sake, I hope your right about Nolen. Taylor, while not having a very good championship game, is a tough kid, mentally & physically, and under Bo's direction, I think he'll be fine. I've seen him play against Nolen and basically handled him. Make Nolen look bad. I can't, however, buy the excuse that Nolen didn't have a good core around him at Henry, thus the reason for his weak season. If you're the stud player, then my feeling is you pick your game up that much more and make your team better. Henry wasn't without talent, but no doubt the change in coach this year was also a factor.

Cmob....you truly are a "man of the world!" I'm not sure how you put yourself into some of these "glorious" situations you get in, but only you can make that happen. I doubt you saw any hefers in that Scottsdale area, did you? Naw, didn't think so!!

I also thought Hintz was set and had signed at Southwest State. Gotta check that out...

;)

Dang & I was gonna leave work early..  ;D

Funbb - did you see Henry's squad this year?  They had no legit starter over 6-4 or inside game and their best rebounder was  6-1.   And the Gophs didn't sign Nolen for his J.  As the kids say - "his shot is broke."   ;)  So you sag off of him & keep him from doing what he does best, penetrate & dish.  Taylor from Benilde had Battle to dump the ball to.  And I'll concede that point - Taylor is a bulldog.

It's Nolen's mental or emotional approach to the game I would be concerned with most.

Larson from Maple River is a nice find for the Johnnies. That kid can really light it up from the perimeter if you give him any space. If he stays healthy, he'll make an impact right away at SJU.

Funbb- In the case of either Nolen or Taylor, I think it's tough to predict future potential PG success.  Two years ago when I first saw Taylor play, I thought to myself – "this kid is going to be special."  Then I saw him again during the state tourney this year & I wondered –"what happened to his game?"  Hopefully he proves me wrong.  I remain on the fence with Nolen.

...personally i think monson is a moron for not pulling the scollie...it happens to many players that dont work hard or dont live up to expectations...it sucks but i have no problem with it...this was just one of many of his moves that made the gopher program what it has been for the last 3 or 4 years...D1 basketball is a business and if you dont win you dont get the money, players, fans or tv contracts that you need to succeed...miles would have been better off starting at a juco or lower level college

Cmob - Monson basically did what you were describing with Webb, which is why Webb left after his FY year at the U for Wahpeton NDSSS.  What about Jamal Abu Shamala??

its hard to not give a scollie to one of your five best players...with that said...that just shows how bad the gophers are right now...although JAS has done better than expected and was orignally a walk on who earned a scollie

im so happy you had the same experience i had in Zona...its something everyone needs  8)

isnt that the typical size and style of a henry team?

if what you wrote about nolen is correct then it sounds like brandon smith will have a new best friend  ;)

A little birdie says DeRock's change of scenary isn't a coaching thing, but rather a school thing. Sometimes a country boy needs to stay where he is comfortable.

I don't have any new updates, I just like recruiting season. I don't have any fancy sources like y'all but Hintz wasn't listed on Southwest State's website. No recruiting news on Winona St.'s website. I still can't believe that comeback.

Hah... clever... But I sorta like November to March better....  :P

Does anyone from the MIAC know if Ike's strong performance at the CBI thing got him any attention from professional scouts? I'm sorta looking forward to saying that I saw a music video staring a future NBA player. :D

I just read that Marcus Hill, the quick PG from Breck, signed with Mankato.

although i think it would be cool if Ike went to the League he will end up with a nice contract over seas and at very best perhaps the D-league but that is also very unlikely in my eyes...then he can make music videos in foreign languages

what is everyones favorite outdoor sport they played when you were a little kid??

mine was street baseball in the culdasac down the road...although my favorite had some stiff compitition with winter driveway hockey with checking into the snow banks and also full contact basketball with checking and tackeling into the snow banks as well...back yard football was always a good time too
