Drake, no...Luke 2:45-49.

Cobbs wil be in trouble if they don't get more guard support from some mysterious source "x." i'm pretty sure Eric meischner left the squad.  that leaves boike and those young (and very short) sophs to fill it up.
if you didn't foul out, you weren't trying hard enough...nancies

Oops, I'd completely forgotten that story.  That must have been one of the times I dozed off during the sermon.   :D Nice recall, maybe you are going into the right profession.  :)

Ok, back to hoops -- so who is this mysterious source "X" you're referring to?

It's too bad to hear about Eric Meischner.  I saw him play a few times during high school & AAU ball, & he was a pretty solid little guard.  He & his high school teammate, Brett Winklemann, now at NDSU, sure would have helped the Cobbers' basketball fortunes.  It seemed Meischner didn't keep developing as he made the transition from high school to college ball.  I certainly wish him the best in his academic endeavors & trust he stays in school to get his degree.

I thought the talk on the board a year ago was that Brian Lebsock was suppose to be the solution to the Cobbs problems! Wasn't he all state in both Football and Basketball in MT and the choice was which one to play at CORD?

I think that was Sofa talking through one of his sofa cushions!  ;)

I saw Lebsock play in mop up duty against MAC & his build reminded me of former St. Joe star Jameer Nelson, now with Orlando.  Obviously, there's a bit of a talent disparity.  :P    He's small, strong, quick, & looked liked he tried to do too much in his few minutes out on the  court to try & impress the coaches.  He looked like he could eventually be a decent player.

Another recruiting tibit for the board.  According to wishoops.net, La Crosse (WI) Logan senior Dan Schmidtknecht has decided to attend Gustavus Adolphus College and play basketball for the Gusties.

Schmidtknecht earned first-team all-Mississippi Valley Conference honors in 2006-07 after leading Logan to an 8-4 finish in the league and a 13-8 record in all games. Ranked No. 47 among state seniors by Wishoops.net, the 6-1 Schmidtknecht joins a Gustavus Adolphus program that finished 14-13 last season, including 11-9 in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

Schmidtknecht joins former Wisconsin prep standouts Kane Sivesind (6-6) of Madison Memorial and Ky Battern (6-6) of Osecola at Gustavus Adolphus, an NCAA Divivision III school located in Saint Peter, Minn.

I asked around and apparently this young man is very athletic and skilled.

i have no source "x" in mind.  they just need to find one.  boike can do it, he just has to DO it.

A brief departure from MIAC news:  Last night's Miss / Mr. Basketball Banquet included some good one-liners.  Mad Dog had delivered a good speech in which he told a series of short stories about various players throughout his years. Most were favorable but some were of teammate bashing, etc.  (Hey - he did live in LA!!)  He wrapped it up by turning to the nominees and asking them to think about how they want to be remembered.

Before that, however, Rod Simons had done a brief interview with each nominee.  He was not quite entertaining in his awkwardness with interviewing the tallest candidates.   Aldrich had fun with that one and broke the tension, fortunately.

It was Trevor M. who put aside any sense of polical correctness when he had the mike.  Simons had asked him about college selection and questioned why he didn't give the Gophers a look.  Answer:  "Dan Monson didn't like me." The whole room cracked up and the recently revitalized Gopher love-fest continued later when Hoffarber's name was called.
Is is March Madness yet?

i heard that when hoffarber was named MR. BASKETBALL, cole and his family got up and walked out of the banquet in disgust...

sounds like a weak sauce move to me

Willy Wonka

cmob - That does sound sketchy, though so does the decision. The Hoff's are generally known as quite confident (some, if not most, would use a much stronger discriptor) family.

The sweet revenge factor remains possible: Hoff's sister goes (went?) to Kansas :)
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

for all you lakeville south haters out there...word on the street is they trashed one of the locker rooms they used during the state tourney and were seen flicking off buffalo fans.

Check your source and maybe their bias.  All the guys sat there at the head table as Hoffarber struggled thru his thank you and acceptance remarks.  Sorry, Mr. Almost 7-footer put on no such display.  He took some pictures with family and then, yes, they did leave.  They did not seem to stick around very long but it definitely wasn't a get up and storm out.

There were way too many cameras around that if that had happened it probably would have ended up in the paper!  Relax, the Strib relegated the coverage to the usual depths of the High School coverage near the back of the sports section.  "No Big Deal"

If thats true that is a real showing of class.

On the lighter side, Marquette fans have found a another use for women. ( Badgering of women is not condoned by miacwatchmen)
