i heard that when hoffarber was named MR. BASKETBALL, cole and his family got up and walked out of the banquet in disgust...

sounds like a weak sauce move to me

Check your source and maybe their bias.  All the guys sat there at the head table as Hoffarber struggled thru his thank you and acceptance remarks.  Sorry, Mr. Almost 7-footer put on no such display.  He took some pictures with family and then, yes, they did leave.  They did not seem to stick around very long but it definitely wasn't a get up and storm out.

There were way too many cameras around that if that had happened it probably would have ended up in the paper!  Relax, the Strib relegated the coverage to the usual depths of the High School coverage near the back of the sports section.  "No Big Deal"

if you were there then i will take your word for it...the person that told me though is correct and accurate on about 95% of the things he has told me in the past so this may be in the 5% but i will always report what he tells me

i dont really have anything to contribute, just a litte tired of sitting on the sildelines of all this chit chat.  just want to stay on top of my posting skills, too long without any action and a person starts to get rusty.

and for something bball related, i love seeing 7footers shooting 3s and winning ball games a la Z.I. of cleveland tonight.  its my vicarious bball thrill

Simmons article on ESPn is a fun read....although it is about (blasphemy alert)football

"Explanation No. 4: Just for the hell of it, Belichick decided to build this season's Patriots offense the same way I doctor my "Madden" roster every August by making as many shady Patriots-related trades as possible. I swear, I would have ended up making all three of those moves in four months, even if they hadn't happened.

I wonder if Miami will be dumb enough to trade me Wes Welker for a second-round pick? (Pause.) Wait ... the Dolphins agreed to the deal?

I wonder if Donte' Stallworth's agent will be dumb enough to sign a multi-year deal in which only the first year is guaranteed. (Pause.) Wait ... he said yes?

I wonder if the Raiders will accept a fourth rounder for Moss. Screw it, I'll make the offer. (Pause.) Wait, I just got Randy Moss?

You have to admit, at the very least, we have the greatest "Madden" offense in Patriots history: Brady, Maroney, Watson, Moss, Stallworth, Welker, Caldwell, Gaffney, Brown. I mean ... are you kidding me? Can I run a seven-receiver offense next year? Is that legal?"

Appears if Dinny (TDT's buddy, Wonka's Madden partner) will have to travel south next season to see his favorite MIAC gal. Mandy Pearson, formerly a Cobber turned Piper assistant coach, is down at St. Mary's now.

concordia of the north

that's amazing for mandy.  i don't know if i've ever heard of a younger head coach.  she is so determined and focused, i'm sure she'll do very well.

OK, it's May 2nd and yesterday's deadline apparently didn't produce any big last minute recruit announcements.  Sigh.  That could mean today officially qualifies as a, "Slow News Day" in MIAC-land.

In an effort to cast that dismal title aside maybe CON could enlighten us with some inside scoop on the skinny dipping adventures in Moorhead.  The tv news coverage showed footage of that little body of miserably stagnant water, complete with a nice layer of floating crud around the perimeter.  Who wants to jump in there unless a lot of liquid encouragement was involved??  Hopefully the Dermatologists in the Red River Valley don't have too many new cases of a mysterious skin condition this week.

MAC:  What's up with the relo fiasco last night? How does a house moving company not pre-calculate the amount of space required? Was it Frank Sinatra who sang, "Chainsaws in the night...."

Is is March Madness yet?

Alright, I'll admit I misssed the news last night & couldn't find anything on the web this AM.  What happened at Mac?  I drove by there yesterday & it looked like deconstruction as usual.

WER - Mebbe the rest of the lyrics to your song might go like this -

"Chainsaws in the night,
in stunning fashion,
taking down the lights,
and all the houses too.

Chainsaws in the night..."  ;)

I also have nothing new to report regarding MIAC recruits.  However, it was confirmed by Shooter in yesterday's PP that Woodbury's Max Hintz is apparently taking his talents to Winona State.

In case anyone else was wondering besides me, here's a link to the story that WERFans referenced yesterday.  WER - you must have caught this bit on TV news yesterday, as the article didn't show up in my paper until today - Thursday. Or, live or work in the area. Moonlight Madness

A little more info on DeRock's transfer:

He will redshirt next year to familiarize him with the offense. The coach was quoted to say that he will have an immediate impact on the perimeter game for the Mustangs in two years.

He joins Belle Plaine's Trent Carlson and Fosston's Josh Roysland (Kelly's brother).

I, for one will certainly miss watching DeRock, but what about players coming into Hamline, rather than leaving?
