DeRock's transfer opens up one more obscure award category.  If memory serves me correctly some poster recognized him as the sweatiest player in the MIAC!  Yeah, that's one we'd all hope to share with the grandkids some day....

On a more relevant Piper note, Wohler's additions of his former Gopher teammates to the assistant coaching ranks set things up for a pretty good development opportunity for those inevitably late blooming biggs.  'Guess they have to get past the admissions office first, though.
Is is March Madness yet?

Just interviewed/ate with UST women's hockey coach Kevin Gorg. Good dude. Almost cool enough to make me respect the Tommies...heavy emphasis on almost  :P

is that the same dude that is on FSN for wild hockey games?

Having watched exactly 0 Wild game in the past...oh...how many years have they been here again? But I did ask him, and it's the same guy. He's also the PA guy at Canterbury and was kind enough to hand me 10 free passes to the track.

I'm not a math major, but if I put down a full years salary on the longshot...I may be able to rake in 40k  :P

I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

I think DeRock was a possible runner up.  The award was given to Mr. Sapp out of St. Marys.

Speaking of Hambone, who's going to feed the biggs with the transfer & graduation of DeRock & Sam Wiener?

Kinda like the front page of D3hoops.com.

I don't think that story was up at 9:17 a.m. yesterday, but yes, I saw the story this morning. My question is why the cameraman was shooting feet?

So now we can add more lines to the courts because the women's 3 pt. line will remain the same, correct?

The next step will be that the lane is too small for the men, but we'll leave it the same for the women....it's going to look like a 3-ring circus before it's said and done!!

on that note....they are also planning on moving the 10 ft line on the volleyball court to 8.75 feet but they are going to leave the 10 ft line for any  international competitions that may take place...there are also rumblings that they may widen the half court circle an extra foot and a half due to childhood obesity.  there is speculation that the next generation of centers are going to be wider than they are taller causing problems in jump ball situations...however they will leave the old circle in just incase there is a middle school basketball tourny that takes place at the location...last but not least they are going to add a 4ft x 4ft x 4ft triangle on both ends of the court 4.3 feet behind the three point arch at the top of the key and this shot will be worth 4.4 points

It was up at 9:17 a.m. yesterday. I put it up about 12 hours earlier.

I didn't aim for the feet. I just cropped well. :)

Triple Burger Champion....you've about covered it all. Next thing you know, "The Mobster" will demand that triple burgers be served to all hefers that 'more than adequately fill the lane!!' I see a whole new enterprise ready to explode for you mobster!

Who's the new coach for the Irish? I heard from a reporter whom had visited with Manning and had asked if there had been any negative feedback as a result of Bender being dismissed and Manning said, "No, hardly none." I find that hard to believe, don't you?

;)

columbianmaffia

yeah thats totally false funballer...manning is a very arrogant person who thinks everyone loves him...i talked to a couple of my former teachers that i ran into last week and they say the entire teaching staff is outragged by what has happened...there has also been a lot of support in the community for him...you only hear about the bad things because those people make such a big fuss about their kids not getting playing time because their child recieved a random letter from a college about basketball because their kid filled out a survey at a college fair...so they think their child should be playing the whole game because he has a chance to get a scholly at some college...talk about blinders...even mr. hosea crittenden came out of the wood work to complain to manning about what happened...it makes me sick and im embarrassed that im associated with rosemount high school after what took place....i guess you can say im still "slightly irked" at what went down...especially since the guy that forced bender out is notorious for throwing basketballs at player in his mens leauge and cussing out refs and has even been known to punt a basketball to the ceiling when he was mad about a call in a mens rec league

If I recall correctly, Manning used to coach at St. Thomas Academy and he was not that successful. But I guess he "knows all" when it comes to judging basketball coaches.

Maybe the community ought to rally and get Bender reinstated, and then put pressure on the board to fire Manning. Sounds like maybe he and the HS principal are in bed together!

;)

columbianmaffia

it would be nice to see it happen but bender has decided he is done for now at least...the day after he was forced out he was offered the lakeville south job and he was also asked by a couple lake conf. coaches to come on as an assistant

i would love to see the community rally to get manning out though...there have been some heated arguments going in the rosemount town pages website from what i heard...you cant see the comments on the article anymore but there was quite a response there

An excerpt from Frank's Blog dated 5/6/07 with regard to SJU BB recruits:

I just finished talking with a trio of St. John's basketball recruits - Rocori's Aaron Burtzel, Willmar's Kyle Townswick and Sioux Falls Lincoln's Chris Schwartz.

Burtzel is a 6'5" forward, Townswick is a 5'7" guard and Schwartz is 6'4". Schwartz was first team all state.
