Drake,

I knew you'd figure that one out in a half second or less.  Not much gets by you!   ;)

Speaking of sub 6 footers and daily newspapers, here's a timely article on former Jayhawk player and current Aggie coach Mark Turgeon, who is all of 5' 8".  I like the picture with Danny Manning.

Nites - I had to look at it sideways, & upside down a couple of different times.  At first I thought it was a typo & you meant the Des Moines Register, but then as reality started sinking in..."I think he means the Dallas Morning News, what?!?"  :D

Cmob - So what's your take on the listed height of #23 from Carleton? A legit 6-footer or no?  From the stands he looked like he was for real.  ;)

Edit -  Ooh, tricky, on the football roster he's listed as 6-1.

Just no crack about the Mavs since I'm in mourning.

That was an amazing fall by the Mavs!  I thought the Suns-Spurs match up was going to be the glamour Western conference semi's pairing, but if last night's game was any indication, the GS & Utah series could be a monster.  Too bad those games won't finish until after midnight on weeknights.  Baron Davis & crew seem to be playing with no conscience!

GS has incredible athletes, particularly Richardson, Davis and Pietrus.  The pupil (Avery) got schooled by the teacher (Nelson) in the Mavs series.  Notwithstanding its win last night, Utah is not going to win the series unless it can keep the score down around 100 or less.

The only good thing about the Mavs quick exodus is that I can get some decent sleep and be productive at work.  I was at Game 5 and didn't get home until midnight.

like i said 6' = 5'10 to 5'11...on the wall of heights (which is measured with a level on top of a ruler and shoes are not allowed) #23 has always been jellous because im a legit 6'1 with my shoes off and he is only 5'11...im glad im better than him at one thing  ;)

now if we are talking about height with everyones shoes on then i will accept that they are all 6' but then it makes me a little nervous that some players will start to wear high heals  :o

gotta love the boombalahties  :P

I have also heard that Bethel has a pair of 6-8 players coming in this year.  One I believe is from Lakeville and the other from somewhere else down south.  With those two and Peter Rolando (6-7) and Mike Moberg (6-8) that's a pretty big front line for the Royals!

Any idea on the names of those big guys?

Thanks for the link Sum. If I recall, you liked this Townswick kid from Willmar & you asked LocalCoach if he had seen him play.  At 5-7, I hope the kid is wearing an Abe Woldeslassie custom fit jet pack.  ;D

It seems in recent history the MIAC has had its fair shair of pesky sub 6' ers that gave teams headaches on occasion.

The first few that come to mind are:
Augsburg- Graf and Keto
UST- Travis Kalis
MAC - Abe W.

Help me out fellas.

Snow - 6-3 Dan Graf is going to be upset if he heard you refer to him as a sub 6 footer.  Is there another Auggie player you're thinking of, or is there another Graf I'm not familiar with?

I know your former PG, 5-11 Sean "The Menace" Sweeney was not universally liked around the league, but I loved that kid!  But now the Js assistant coach - Pat McKenzie, now there was a player who as my uncle used to say - "would get on your last nerve."  ;D  I'm sure as a coach he's much more subdued.  ;)

I have to give some props to the sub 6-footers. They almost have to play with a chip on their shoulders, otherwise they don't survive.

Nites - what paper is the "DMN"?

Yikes!!  Poor job of copy-pasting skills.  Graf is right under Koslowski (5'6'') on the augs. roster.  I wasn't paying enough attention.  My bad. I'll edit my post.

And agreed Sweens was quite the rabble rouser.

Wouldn't really call it recruiting news, but an assistant over at St. Olaf told me today that Matt Cadwell, a CDH grad, could be transferring from his D-2 school to play basketball at UST. Kid was a stud for Cretin and would be a much-needed addition to the Tommies if he does transfer, but I haven't heard any official word on it.

SDSU is, actually, a DI program. The Jackrabbits are in the final year of the "transitional" phase in their move to DI, and will be eligible for NCAA tournaments after this season. They moved from NCAA independent to the Mid Continent Conference (Valpo, Oral Roberts, etc) for this upcoming athletic year. Cadwell averaged 12 a game this past season, after going for 16 a contest in his redshirt freshmen year. I havent heard anything about a possible move, but wouldnt be surprised if that turned out to be true. Brookings, SD leaves a lot to be desired.  ;D

Gregory Sager

Quote from: Drake Palmer on April 19, 2007, 12:42:07 PMWilly, funny comment on Mr. Ecker – the guy seemed to keep a perpetual tan.  It'll be interesting to see how closely Greg Sager follows our board, & see if your slight criticism of Cal Ecker elicits a comment defending the former North Park hooper.  ;D

Actually, I understand WW's comment. I like Cal, but I also know that he rubs some people the wrong way. People who follow Wheaton basketball, f'rinstance, weren't very fond of Cal during his lone year in an NPU uni.

I'm just surprised that Cal's still hoopin'. I thought that he had hung up his sneaks for good when he got serious about his music.

Next time WW's in the Cities, perhaps he should go to one of Cal's shows and heckle him. :D

Incidentally, I would've seen this when you posted it, Drake, but I took a three-week hiatus from d3hoops.com and just came back two nights ago.
