Miacmanic:   Go ahead and read the previous couple pages before you try to contribute something.  ...

will this post illicit another little snide remark from Pat?

I suppose I could jump into the fray a little bit too & ask AO if he can make a distinction between a person who exhibits "manic" behavior, & a person who is a self-declared "maniac."  ;D

Yeah, welcome back to the board Mose.  It must be about the time of year when you begin your bi-weekly pilgrimage to C-ville.  ;)

Sum - I see the dreaded Red X in your avatar. Is it it my PC, or is there something missing?

Sum-- it goes well.... hope #1 daughter is medalist this weekend, although it would be nice to see you at the Stiffy-fest. Where in NC did you vacation? I lived in Asheville for 8 months and New Bern (on the coast) for 2 years

DP-- pilgrimage to C-ville? no pilgrimages for me, not even to Lourdes (in France not Rochester)...although one back to NC & Cameron is crossing my mind...I havent been there for a game in way too long. Just had nothing to add to the summer discussions...spent much of it soaking sun, watching baseball and being otherwise preoccupied

Spent a week at Ocean Isle Beach. It's about a half hour north of Myrtle Beach, SC. Great spot.

It's looking more and more like I will be spending the weekend in the land of Cheese! ;D

It doesn't sound like you were far from my favorite town down there (sarcasm intended)-- Bolivia NC. Remind me to tell you about Bolivia sometime.  Is son #1 going to show his face at the Stiftungsfest?

I am not sure if Jr. is going to make it to the Fest or not. I vaguely remember hearing something about eggs & kegs at the house they are renting in St. Joe! :(

Please excuse my poor grammar.  It must be hard to read my post, as maniac still made no attempt to respond to the content.

It made me feel a bit better about my grammar after I read the Around the Region article for the west region written by the elusive OAS.  Those warhawls are really going to stick it to the huslies...hussies?  both might be an appropriate nickname for St. Cloud State.

Mafia: Definitely not D, as holding hands is the doorstep to eternally sinful lust  :o

If you really wanted to know what makes Northwestern a Christian school, I might as well try to explain.  Northwestern is an intentional community of only Christians whose purpose is to educate Christians according to a biblical worldview.  To achieve this Northwestern requires about 30 credits of bible and christian theology coursework.  There's also the bit about required daily chapel and prayer before every class, but a college is probably best defined by the students who attend it.  I think it's a pretty fair observation to make that students who choose to go to a college with required chapel aren't "sunday only" christians.  Northwestern is also the only non-denominational school in the state.  Sorry for the lengthy answer, but it was the Question of the day. ;D

No complaints here, you did a fine job Pat.  I'm ready for some football.  This time of year also means all of our favorite basketball recruits have made it to campus.  Perhaps the hiring of Coach Whitmore have caused some Hamline basketball dropouts to give the program another chance.

WeRFans

AAAAKKKKKK!  I'm out of here!  It's time to head for the lake for a long weekend...and not return until it's college football season.  Hopefully that will mean that certain posters will have their pigskin attitude back to the MIAC, WIAC or whatever football boards.

On that fine day we can return to, let's see, what was it again?  Oh yeah, Men's Basketball /  West Region /  MIAC Conversations.

I almost forgot.

Is is March Madness yet?

Your grammar's fine. It's your spelling that seems to elicit so much commentary. :D

Since I used an entirely different word without understanding the actual meaning I thought it might fall under a grammar error, as I was not attempting to spell elicit.

But for the sake of WeRFAns, perhaps we ought to go back to the business of discussing whatever it is that he wants to talk about.

You must have missed my point. You're on here, crowing that NW would be competitive in the MIAC based on a few wins over the past few years against some of the weaker teams in the league. I say that's nonsense. I've seen NW play several times in the past 10 years and I am certain that in none of those years would NW even snuck into the MIAC playoffs as the 6th seed.

Now, can we stop talking about a UMAC "superpower" (there is a UMAC board where their merits 9if any) can be discussed) and get back to MIAC hoops, triple burgers, and less trivial matters?

I for one am very interested to see the new look of Hamline's play...it might take till 08-09 to fully see the effects of the coaching change, but it should be fun to see.  I wonder if the addition of Whitmore and Greiss signals the start of a change in the tempo of MIAC ball from the methodical -- and successful-- brand of Smith/Fritz/Hanson to something more upbeat.  It will be interesting to see how the new guys do and how that impacts the rest of the league.

I hear Loras and UST may renew rivalry soon in hoops, possibly in 08-09.  Seeing Gorton on the visitor's bench will be interesting...I think that would be the first time Fritz has coached against a former player of his.
