i recall that i heard nicolai was having a little bit of a tough time with the adjustment to the college level while playing with his new tommie teammates this summer.  i think the physical change will be his biggest issue - he's rail thin.  however, i think he'll make a quick adjustment with each day against the stronger, tougher competition.

Wow – thanks fellas!  Now I just hope my tears of joy from seeing all these posts in a 24-hour span doesn't snuff out the emerging posting fire.  ;)

A few add' comments...

Watch – might this new Johnnie secret weapon be a 6-3 or 6-4 lefty with decent handles & springs for legs?  If so, I like it but when did he develop a J?  ;D

Drake- The J's "secret weapon" is isn't left handed. I know you seem to know everyone that plays or thinks about playing in the MIAC but this one's name may be unknown to you.  He transfered in this year and didn't play at his last school.

Maybe Tubby sent Ryan Saunders to J land?  Brewster brings training camp to collegeville and recommends that Tubby sends the legacy players up north. I think it  would be easy enough to think that he didn't play last year.------Maybe the initials were BW?  Mr. Webster could use a place to play.

Both good guesses AO but the  J's "secret weapon" isn't Bryce Webster or Ryan Saunders. At least you've helped Drake narrow the possible candidates down though.   ;D

You're killing me Watch!   ;D Are you telling me we're gonna wait until the rosters are released in October/November before we find out about this player?  That's harsh!  I'll have to see if we can get Local to turn his sleuthing attention to this matter. At least in the past, Local was the one with the inside recruiting scoop.

I'll tell you this much,  if your "SW" is from out of state, or even out state MN I don't have a clue.  But let's see - so far we know he's a transfer, I'm guessing a soph or a junior, probably a soph – right?  He went to one of the larger state schools, decided he missed playing ball & decided to transfer to SJU after a year away?  And according to you he's between 6-3 – 6-5 or so, good handles & shoots the ball fairly well.

I still say he sounds like the Etheridge kid Kneez was raving about.  Last year, I believe Etheridge was the 2nd leading scorer on his Wartburg team for 7 games until he injured his shoulder & sat out the rest of the season.

As far as I know, the only big time transfer is Travis Busch of Mounds View who is still pursuing the D-1 dream over at the U.  Last year he sat out as a transfer walk-on from UC- Santa Clara (?).   About a year ago there was weak  scuttlebutt on the street that he was considering a metro "Catholic" (Tommies) school but decided against it.

maffia- because this forum seems to have high expectations for grammatical/spelling content, (although post content gets criticized in direct proportion to the level of controversy of the post) I wish to point out that the t-wolves would have been very (un)lucky had they won the coin flip.

but i say that as a fellow fan.

Snow – you're being a little harsh.  I think the 2nd half of your statement is probably a more accurate reflection of the "veteran" posters on this board.   ;D

Speaking of words, here's another Quote of the Week that I found in my jaunt around the D3Sports boards.  This quote comes from our esteemed senior statesman from the east who blesses us with his presence on occasion - D3Sports Hall of Famer Greg Sager.  I came across this little gem on Greg's home board – CCIW Chat.

When clarifying his opinion on a certain player's ability, Greg had this to say:

"I should restate what I said last night. Player X can play power forward ... he just can't play it very well..."  (Didn't Oscar Wilde or Dorothy Parker once say something along these lines?  Clever nonetheless)  ;)

Runner up award goes to our own poet laureate – Cmob – for this line

Doesn't take much to crack me up.  ::) ;D :D

That one had me chuckling, too. CMob's been on a roll lately ... which is the best way to describe it, considering his preference for wheeled footwear.

That is a very good point. So maybe you should just have a little bit of both Bobby.

Just sticking my nose in here to let people know that I am still alive!! ;) Thought this thread was actually going to take off in a basketball direction, but alas, it still must be too early in the school year for that!

Will be lurking and posting as work allows

Sum - I'll have to admit, I was getting a little worried about you.  With your new skull & bones avatar, I thought you might have decided to join your alter ego – Jimmy Buffett on a boat in the Caribbean.  Or mebbe you shucked it all in for a life hunting & fishing in the great outdoors.

See you around the D3 hallways at some point.  ;)
