Umm Skibbity, as Deputy Drake Dawg, (Sheriff Sum appointed me  8) )I'd like to call your attention to a couple of things:

3 Gustavus @ Augsburg
3 Hamline @ Bethel
3 Concordia @ Carleton
1 SJU @ St. Mary's

gotta play some catch-up!

(1) You can only use a number once when doing the confidence pickem. For instance  - Out of "X" number of games, let's say 4 games - you can only assign the #value of 4 once, 3 once, two once, and one once.  Ok?  ;)

Or in other words, you rate each game based on how confident you are in selecting a particular team to win.  Again using a 4-game example since only 4 MIAC games are being played tomorrow, on a scale of 4-1, with each number only being used once, numerically rate how likely/confident you are that a given team you select will win.

(2) For the Pickem coordinator to accurately keep track of wins & losses,  it makes life a whole lot easier if each pickem participant list his games or picks in the same order Sum obtains from the league website.
-------------------------------

Welcome back Bet34.  Make sure you stick around, you bring nice insights to the game.  Could be a foul fest in Arden Hills tomorrow.  The Pipes will definitely try to get up in the Royals' mugs & get to the cup.  How the Royals respond to this challenge will be key. Both teams could break the 90 point barrier.

I wonder how effective the stats to date will be in predicting wins and losses. Bethel is 88.8 in scoring offense and Hamiline is 66.8.

Scoring defense is very close with BU at 85.2 and Hamline at 80.5. Since the defensive numbers are so close are they a wash? Is the 20 point Bethel differnce in offense a predictor of the outcome?

Does anyone know if there is a MIAC QRF the way there is for high school ball?

W- I don't have time this morning to answer your question in detail, but no, there's no MIAC  league formula.  However, come the end of January or so, the national boards & ours to a lesser extent are buzzing with rankings & calculations, policy wonks & such.   :D Here are a couple of links for you on a wintery day to dig through.

http://www.d3hoops.com/scoreboard/mensrpi07.htm

Also, this season the NCAA is changing the way it calculates regional rankings which helps determine in a big way how teams are selected for the big dance, thus the following discussion/thread by some of the site's "heavy hitters"....

http://www.d3sports.com/post/index.php?topic=5441.0

And lastly..  keep in mind the new formulas they'll be using this year will resemble the previous link I attached.

Nites

Carleton with an early 10-2 lead on the Cobbers.

Nites

Carleton 36-28 at the half.  Cobbers are a physical team.  On the ball pressure up top is giving the Knights trouble, but Carleton has been getting open 3's and hitting.  Concordia hasn't shown any outside game yet.

That's pretty impressive thus far.  Isn't UW-LAX 4-0 with a win over Augustana last time out?

I expect to see a lot of parity in the MIAC and I'm wondering if someone ever is going to slow down Brady Brink?

One possible answer, Teddy Archer of UST.  He's becoming a fierce defender.

Final: Carleton 76, Concordia 65.  Johnson leads the way with 27 points, 5 steals and 6 assists.  Knights jumped out front early and the game was never really close.  Linz had close to 20 for the Cobbers.  Concordia has no outside game at all.

La Crosse                                                       Tommies

Tommies also have 15 guys on the box score.  Holding LaCrosse to 19 in a half is pretty darn good.  LaCrosse looks like they came alive a bit more in the 2nd scoring 40.
