B34 - No idea what that might be referring too...but I'd suggest Reub-N-Stein or Hogan Bros when eating in Northfield. The Reub had all-you-can-eat wingies with a beverage purchase on Wednesdays when I went a few years back and the subs at Hogans are simply spectacular.

Drake - Your memory is correct. I don't believe Hanson got a single tech in my four years there but, in talking with numerous Gusties who were at Sowden swan song, the reffing that game apparently made the Asian Sensation look like an NBA caliber ref. I wasn't in attedance, so I can't speak to specifics.

cmob - I believe you're referring to the moveable object and the stoppable force :)
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

BET34,

I've lived in Northfield for 2 years now, and the only places I can think of for that name would either be Froggy Bottoms (an irish pub with good burgers) or the Tavern (close to Carleton, good patty melts). I would also recommend the Reub or Hogan Bros. Good burgers at the Reub, and Hogan Bros. is a localized version of Jimmy John's.

On the other hand, what's puzzling about Carr & the Birds is that Carr was the only bright spot for SMU, & earned All Tourney honors in the Thanksgiving Day tourney SMU just played in Nebraska.  In last night's match up with Mac, midway through the first half, Carr flew in off the top of the key, & with one hand, grabbed an errant 3 point attempt, & flushed down an AWESOME, tomahawk dunk over Tom Conboy & Scots!   :o ;D They had to send the paramedics up into the stands cuz I nearly went into convulsions.  ;) It was that sweet!

Mary's has guys that are playing too much and guys that aren't playing enough...once the staff figures that out this team could be something the people around here haven't seen in a long while.

I had to go back in the time machine to relive these moments in infamy... ;D

Johnnies win in style. The bandwagon keeps rolling!! Sowden kicked the ball in the first half for his first T, then mid way through the second half he was called for his 4th foul, while walking to the bench he yapped something to one of the refs and that got him T # 2. No more than 2 minutes later he was on the bench and must have said something again, the same ref tossed him and gave him another T. The Gusties also got a T for an ineligible player. Wittwer ended up with 0 pts on 0-1 shooting. The game itself was rough and very physical. The Johnnies shot the ball 10 times better than they did last Saturday. The Gustie post players were their only weapons tonight. Sowden and  Doble had some nice moves inside but it wasn't enough.  Brady Brink ended up with 16 for the J's. C. Schafer and Leiser go for 13 with Westman following with 12.

Watch - I'm just trying to figure this out. So on the 2nd T, Sowden was kicked out of the game correct?  Then he must have said something while sitting on the bench & the ref slapped the bench/ team with their 1st T & Sowden was banished from the bench to the lockeroom?  Then the Gusties got another T for using an ineligible player.  Right?  The boxscore has Sowden with 2 Ts & the Gusties with 2 Ts.

That's a tough way to go out.

I was at the SJU/GAC tilt tonight and the officiating was interesting to say the least...they allowed a lot of physical play in the first half...GAC took what looked to be 3 possible charges and didn't get one of them. They probably weren't going to get all three, but they should have at least got one of them....Then in the second half they started calling everything. At one point in the second half GAC had been called for 9 fouls and SJU had been called for 2....then they called eight straight fouls on SJU in the matter of 3 minutes.

Sowden's first Tech was legit....then he got called for 2 personal fouls in a row that were poor calls in my estimation which led to the second tech on the way back to the bench. Then the third tech was called while he was talking to a teammate on the bench...at that point the official was feeling very high and mighty....whether you agreed or disagreed with any of the calls made, it was a shame that the officials took center stage on what was probably going to be an SJU win regardless.

The other bench tech was interesting....from what I understood of the situation...the official book had the correct number of GAC players in the book(which is why GAC didn't catch the mistake in the pregame), however Tyler Kramer was not in the book (he was also omitted on the SJU program for some reason, which might explain why he was not in the book) so when Kramer subbed in for the first time, a tech was given to the GAC bench.

I'm guessing Coach Hanson ordered up a little side of James Brown for tonight's version of "The Payback."  :D

CC to Skibbity:  ;) sometimes, I think the nights are too long for the Redbirds, and they need to drive a different car to ride to some wins.   ;D

Drake- SMU might also have the right approach if they watched the movie Mr. Holland's Opus more...

D3BO-  agreed.   ;)

And in this case, I prefer the Stephen Sondheim musical - "Sweeney Todd" over Moses and the movie "The Ten Commandments."  ;)

AO - Please stop. Your point is retarded and your facts are wrong. Again, you aren't worth the cyberspace used to continue this "argument."

What facts?  I'm making wild guesses.  I also believe many make wild guesses when comparing the UAA or a similar conference to the MIAC.  Do you still feel like a cinderella from '03?  Williams isn't exactly the Mount Union of basketball, but I'm sure many didn't think or know much about the MIAC at the time.

77-70 Gusties win in Collegeville. J's switched to a 1-3-1 zone in the second half that allowed them to close the halftime gap but DesLauriers didn't miss (or so it seemed) in the second half. The game was tied several times in the last 10 minutes and the J's even held a one point lead but were unable to finish the game. Good win and a tough loss for both teams respectively. Gusties shoot 7-13 on 3pt FGs.

A sweep for the Gusties tonight as they win both the men's and women's game!
