PI,

You always have that cheap shot to resort too, especially after I uknowingly drank from his mug at the Green Mill. Nice work.

I see a lot of talk about Fogt on here lately. The guy could barely walk and chew gum at the same time last year, so I'm intrigued to see how he's gotten better in the last year. He had some flashes of brilliance last season, and he's a match-up problem if you don't have a big, tall post like Moberg at Bethel.

Drake,

I have a challenge for you. Try to make one post without a facial expression attached. Should be a tough task ;)

Headin to Vegas baby! I'll chat on here later next week when I get back. Hopefully I don't go broke!

the Dawgs got by Scholastica today 84-72 behind 20 pts and 8 assists from Jon Cassens and a double-double from Femi Solaja...solid win for Augsburg whose next game will be Jan.2 versus another UMAC opponent, Presentation...hopefully they will win that one to pull to 2-6 because it won't get any easier with their 4 games that being...

Scrooge, I mean TH4L - why??  ::) ;D

Or I suppose I could revert to the deadpan tone of your description of Teddy Archer's dunk last week...

Quote from: TommieHoops4Life on December 08, 2007, 07:28:38 PM
...Teddy Archer was a great boost with 10 points off the bench, but will be remembered in this game for a dunk. After a steal at midcourt in the first half, he sent in a 2-handed flush and followed with a Kris Humphries like flex of his arms over his head directed at the Ole students. Hilarious. He had another 1-handed dunk in the second half, as did Scott, who took off from outside the lane on the left wing for the flush, that was sweet.

Certainly your post was well written, but where was the humor & sheer ridiculousness of that wonderful moment??  If you'd like, I can pull up my post describing his dunk for a comparison.

TH4L - Nice recap of the Tommie - Ole game, so I'll just add a few additional comments.  You're absolutely right about Teddy Archer's dunk.  Plus, it had ripple effects throughout the rest of the game.  As for the dunk itself, technically it was just ok - say a 7 or 8 on a 10 point scale, but the post dunk reaction – off the chain! :o ;D

Unlike Kris Humphries' infamous dunk in which he flexed one bicep & pointed at it with his other hand in front of the camera, Teddy went for the double bicep flex!  You could tell Archer wasn't certain what to do for a half a second, thought about it, and then he ran in front of the Ole student section with a smirk on his face & pulled off the double flex!  I think in the future, I might have to inform athletic trainers where I'm sitting in the stands so they can keep an eye on me in case I fall out from laughing too hard!  If nothing else, I'm starting to compile a nice body of work for end of season poster team awards i.e. – best dunks, players you love to hate, nicknames, helmet heads etc.   I think it's safe to say young Mr. Archer has earned a spot in several categories.  :D

My post was a bit over the top, & his celebration was a bit over the top.  But if you insist, I'll make a New Year's resolution & try to tone them down.   :-* ;)

Phew, the Dawgs finally break into the win column.  They had me worried for a bit, but they're too good of a team to do an o-fer for the season.  It  could be that I, along with other posters might have rated them a bit too high going into this season.  But I guess we'll find out after the first of the year.

Fogt changed his workout routine a little bit from last year. From sophmore year to junior year all he did was lift weights and increase his muscle size... while rarely taking enough time to really work on his skills. The difference in his game came this past summer and into this past fall. Instead of Lifting Fogt joined R.O.T.C. and began running to improve his conditioning. He also worked very hard on his post moves and mid-range shooting. Due to the knee injury it may take a few games for him to get back into it but when he does i really believe he will be a dominant post player.

I don't think you can blame us for our excitment over Augsburg.  Returning Femi and Cassens (players who made a statement last year) and certainly there was an undercurrent of electricity behind Coach Greiss. That along with how the rest of the league looked at the time (young UST, lots of questions surrounding other teams), I would still rank Augsburg pretty high.  They have just FAILED to meet expectations.

In a few weeks things will really heat up and we'll begin to see true colors of teams, and who will answer the question of WHO WANTS IT?

I think Snow hit the nail on the head here. The league is a toss up as of now in my mind. If any team starts out quick after the break you have to like their chances at the end of the year. I'm still thinking UST right now though.

Hamline begins with Augsburg and Concordia. I'd take a 5-1 record heading into our tough stretch of @CAR, GAC, @SJU and MAC.

d3bballfollower

PI- I would take 5-1 too if I were the Pipes because after that next stretch they may easily be 5-5

MiacLostProphet

if they come out 5-1, they will beat GAC at home just like the past two years, and the game against MAC will be very interesting.  Two quick guards in Hayes, and Abe.  And Conboy is a seasoned post player up against the young Hipp. After that stretch i see the pipes at 7-3.

Fogt is big and hard to move.  He will really boost SJU when he returns healthy.

I know its a double post but the DOLPHINS WIN!  Maybe there is a chance for those cellar dwelling MIAC teams.....

d3bballfollower

a score from yesterday....Cobbers get thumped by MSU Moorhead 69-47...Lien is the only Cobber in double figures at 13....6 assists to 16 turnovers...

Kinda hard to win a game when you get outscored 30-7 over the last 11 minutes of the game.  Lein is having a solid freshman year. Averaging 10 ppg and 4 rpg.  He also leads the team in 3's made. But can anyone tell me how he has 2 assists in 160 minutes played this year  ??? ???

I was sad when I heard the Dolphins had won. I was really hoping they would go 0-fer-da season just so ;D Tim Tebow could lead them to 19-0 and a Super Bowl title next year!!

They're still finishing last and will get that first overall pick.
