Pick-em games for saturday are up!

Looks like a couple more MIAC v. UMAC  games today. Northwestern @ Hamline and Augsburg @ Presentation. I will be especially interested in the second game. I believe Presentation was pegged for a middle of the pack finish in the UMAC and Auggie Tech has been struggling so far this year.

Happy New Year to all!  ;D  I'm finally back from our family vacation and it looks like the board has been a busy place.

prophet - Yes, last summer I moved up to the north country, although it's more like the Brainerd Lakes area then Bemidji.

As for the Bemidji State vs. UND game, I was able to swing over while I was in the Cities with some of my family and it was quite an enjoyable experience.  The game was a back and forth affair the entire time until the last couple of minutes when UND finally pulled away.  In talking with the BSU coaches afterwards it sounds like they're quite pleased with their freshmen, unfortunately as a whole they just can't make enough open shots at the right times.

sumander - I assumed you meant #21 for UND but I had to check out their website to be sure.  Yes he played very well and put on quite a display of athleticism.

As for other topics on the board, I can add that St. Norbert's is quite the defensively sound team.   They pride themselves on holding teams to 50's or less and don't push the tempo on offense.  I'm not shocked they pulled an upset as they also don't turn the ball over either and those two things make a good combination.

Back to the action tonight!  Like PI, I think the Pipers could start the new year on quite a roll.

Sum- I agree that the Presentation/ Augsburg game will be interesting...both teams are underacheiving so far with PC at 1-8 and the Dawgs at 1-6...I will actually be at the game in Aberdeen and will give some commentary afterwards

D3Bo - +k for being at this game featuring a 1-6 Augsburg and 1-7/8 Presentation team.  I sure hope you have business or family related reasons to be in Aberdeen SD on this coldest day of the winter thus far.  Yikes!

The Gusties are also in action this afternoon/evening against UMASS- Boston.

Local, That"s getting close to my neck of the woods! Which high school conference do you follow up this way (Mid State)?

Drake,

Which MIAC tilt will you be taking in this Saturday?  I have not looked at all the matchups, but I have to think the SJU-Bethel is in the top 2 of the games on the schedule

Yup, decisions, decisions.  If we could only clone ourselves.  We might want to call Saturday - round 1 of the clash of the contenders and pretenders.

The Js & Royals matchup, along with the Tommies & Carlies promises to be the best two games on Saturday.  But then if I look ahead to Monday's schedule, I see UST is playing Bethel, so which, if any team do I want to see play two games in a row?

Since I live in the cities, these games are usually a game time decision for me, my interest level & how many times I might have seen them play. Go WIAC?

No stats yet, but Gusties beat UMASS-Boston 73-66 to go 7-2 on the season.

So i hope to hear that AO will be in attendance tonight at the Hamline NWC game.  I am excited to see the supposed powerhouse of the UMAC play the scrappy pipers.  It should be a good game, it usually has been close the past few years with NWC coming out on top, but oh the times, they are a changin.

PI, you makin it to the game??

Just got home from a long day in the office - no game in St. Paul for me. Maybe the Fiesta Bowl instead.

Go Pipes!

Ooh, NW deja vu.  :o

Much like the game against MAC on Saturday, NW was up quite a bit in the 1st half only to have the Scots, & now the Pipes tie up the game going into halftime.   Halftime score NW 42 - HAM 42, Clute with 19 points.

I love the Hamline webcast. Hard to beat it, especially when I'm sitting on my couch 90 minutes away.
