the goose is loose

feed the geese

Feeding them will only encourage their stay...geese are supposed to migrate south for the winter.  I think after the GAC-UST game thats where Teddy Archer's gooseneck should go.

Are you actually serious about Femi for MVP? MVP means most valuable player and the last time checked the auggies are tied for last and have only two win wins this entire year. If he was so valuable the auggies wouldn't be underachieving so bad. Now I know that the MVP doesn't have to come from the best team but it should at least come from a respectable team. Maybe Luke Linz, Tim Madson, Conboy, or Wittwer should be the names people are looking at for that award.

...he may have been kidding. Although its not a bad argument.

On Bethel:
The conference title, probably not, but a playoff spot most definitely.

On Clute:
LostProphet said ankle one day, knee the next. Either way, without the Flute, we's in trouble.

On Gusaas:
The big guy doesn't fit Whitmore's up-tempo style and yes, he has been replaced by a more athletic Carl Hipp.

On triple burgers:
They are yummy.

How did SMU do against Winona State? I know UST beat them, just wanted to compare.

I'm going to try to hit both games, but would LOVE for you to bring me a tripple burger to munch on while watching Goose practice his, umm, necking in warmups.

Off to bed so the Mayo Clinic can study my fecal matter for 10 straight hours tomorrow. Don't ask questions.

What happened to the Goose this year?  Granted he wasn't a huge contributor last year but he did play 13 minutes a game with 5 starts. This season he has played in only 9 games, starting in 0, and is averaging only 6 minutes per contest? I wasn't expecting a huge year but I was at least expecting him to contribute to the depleted Pipes.  Is he hurt or did he just get replaced by Hipp?

Edit:  FEMI 4 MVP Bandwagon

1st in FG % 62%,  1st in REB 11.1 per game,  15th in Scoring 14.2 per game,  1st in O-REB 3.5 per game,

We should just give him the award now  ;D ;D

maybe i have no idea what everyone else is talking about but when i talk about the goose neck i am talking about zorro's arm that he holds up as he runs down court after a made basket...goose neck

Anyone see another upset coming tonight in the Concordia vs. UST tonight? I think this could be a tough game for UST. The cobbers are so physical inside and if you could point out a weakness on UST, and there isn't many, it would b there bigs. Plus concordia is coming off a bad loss to bethel, and motivation will be high to rectify that loss and also the chance knock of the leader in the conference.

No. UST is mad.....real mad. :-X

Re: MVP from a 'bad' team.  Last year IWU suffered by far their worst season in the 50+ year history of the CCIW.  Zach Freeman was none-the-less a first-team All American (though he was edged out on CCIW POY by Kent Raymond).

It is still a team game no matter how good one player may be.

Watch - I'd tend to agree with you, the Tommies are hacked.  This might be the kiss of death for the Tommies, but I think they've won 25 home conference games in a row.  Checking their website, the last conference home loss was to Augsburg on 1/2/06 when they lost 62-59.

Also.. Fy guard Tyler Nicolai has been in a mini-slump since the beginning of the year. He hasn't really shot the ball all that well since that unconscious game against St. Olaf back in mid December when he scored 32 pts on 10-15 shooting.   Since that time he's gone -

2-6 FGA  9 pts against Carleton
3-10 FGA 10 pts Bethel
1-6  FGA 4 pts Augsburg
1-5 FGA 3 pts Gustavus

Based on a quick scan of the Tommies boxscores this season, they need to have 2-3 guys step it up the offensive end.  Nicolai had been one of those guys as he is UST's 2nd leading scorer at 11+ ppg.  Generally it's Nicolai & or Joe Scott who had game scoring highs, & then a 3rd Tommie player would step up & have big offensive game - Robinson, McCoy, Viau & yes Mr Archer, etc.

Former Tommie players - what's  the coaches' responses when players like Teddy Archer display some of their ahem, cough, cough, shall we say excessive celebration?  Coach Fritz looks like the type of coach who wouldn't take too kindly to that kind of stuff. Yet it seems there's always a little bit of personality on the Tommies teams.  God bless em!  ;)

We best not forget our roots watchmen...after all the board was started by miac newbie.  ;)

I think all games have interesting match ups tonight but there is no doubt in my mind the Ole/Carl game is the GTN. (GameofTheNight for you newbies). I think Olaf is still J-terming but should be good crowds on both ends.  I am excited to see who steps up in this 194th meeting of the teams.

wow, haven't been around for awhile, went to Madison for work this weekend.  I hear Clute is out another game.  It will be a tough one for the pipes against Gustavus. BUT the pipes have beaten the gusties the last two times they made the trip to Hutton so who knows.  To be official it is Clute's knee that is causing him problems.  I have no clue what exactly is wrong or how long it will hold him out, hopefully not too much longer.
