While I was starting to make the rounds of the various websites for game summaries this afternoon, I noticed two surprises while looking at the Cobbs-Auggie game results. 

1)  I noticed Floyd Daniels' name in the boxscore for Augsburg, as he played 11 minutes for the Dawgs.  Cmob - didn't he graduate from Burnsville like 10 years ago??    I'm assuming Daniels transferred in at the beginning of 2nd semester. 

2) So while I was checking the AUGS website to confirm it is indeed the same Daniels, (it is) I noticed one other surprise roster addition.  Cmob, Willy, Th4L, PI & anyone else who may have watched the state HS basketball tourney last year,  this name will bring back fond memories:   

Scroll down to the bottom of the roster & look at the last Auggie roster addition.  I'm guessing football didn't work out at Augustana.  If Coach Griess can successfully work these newcomers in, the Dawgs might be able to make a successful 2nd half season run toward the playoffs. And Whitmore at Hamline might get guard envy.

The cold temps must be getting to me. Day 2 rant.

Why can the visiting losing team - SMU, 130 miles or so from home, get a game story & box score up faster than the winning, home team - Bethel?? At 6:15 tonight I just checked both sites & the Birds had both items online, while Bethel just had the score listed on the season schedule.  You would think with their upgraded sports website, they would have upgraded their ability to post information in a timely manner. They've got to have the slowest SI desk in the conference. Post the boxscore for crying out loud! 

Edit:  Shades of Nick Carr at SMU?? Baron Zev returns to the Hamline & scores 5 points,  & grabs 4 boards in the game against the Jays.  What madness is taking place at Snelling & Hewitt?  Prophet  tell us what's happening.

It was cold outside but not IN Robertson Center! Bethel shot an ungodly 82.1% from the field in the first half (23 of 28) inlcuding 21 of 14 (85.7%) from 3 pt land...they cooled off in the 2nd half but shot 65.4% for the game--- and 69.6% on 3s (16 of 23)

For SMU--Holland is the real deal and Eright is as good as advertised. SMU has no front line, which means I am backpedaling on that 5 win comment...3 might be pushing it. But the duo of Holland and Wright is a nice cornerstone to build on!

More delayed observations

Watch - I'm guessing you weren't at the game today?  According to the boxscore, Hamline's Eric Clute did play & scored 10 points in 29 minutes.   On the other hand, where was Jason Fogt?   I'm thinking the Johnnies are going to want  Fogt in their lineup, just like the Tommies will want a healthy Nicaolai in their lineup when the 2 teams square off for round 1 on Monday night.  And Coach Fritz will be going for his 500th win on Monday night?

Mose - I noticed that ungodly shooting by the Royals.   Man that steak at Manny's will sure taste good in about a month.   

While you're online- what's the status on Nicolai's ankle (?) ?  And  what about the coaches' reaction to Thespian Teddy's dramatic performances?

No one seems to be saying much about Banick after the Gusties got ahold of him today. What happened? And GAC survived a subpar performance from Wittwer...gotta love the versatility they're showing of late.

Brady Soule..wow. Nice pickup, I guess. He was all-conference and all-state tournament team. I also remember him throwing an egg (2-for-10 for 5 pts) in a 2 point loss to Buffalo in the semis. Than again he Brady scored 21 points and grabbed seven rebounds in the quarters.

Cormier...STOP SHOOTING THE BALL!!!  he went a ridiculous 3-11 with an additional 6 free throw attempts and ended with 10 points.  Go get rebounds that is the onyl reason your in the game, or should be in the game, along with the 4 turnovers he had in his 27 minutes of action.  just aweful!  Carr, Holland and Wright a combined 11-16 from behind the arc.  only 2 other Cards made 1 three pointer.  Carr 3-4 with 9 points and 0 turnovers and 2 steals??? maybe Carr should be putting up the 10+ shots instead of cormier and holland and wright will have someone else to go to.  Especially since Carr puts up the same numbers except for less rebounds but in turn less turnovers too.  Also plays ten less minutes, now who is more productive per minute??? I know most people dislike the motorvehicle but he is shooting over 50% on the year.... Just some speculation.  But i do know that wright and holland need some one else to give them more of a hand.

PI - Wait until Cmob chimes in on this one.  Soule was also the guy who went to the T. Archer school of Acting, along with a coaching coup that took place earlier last season at Lakeville South.

Umm Scots - you're starting to lose a little cred.  First you were dogging Rohr, & now you're going after Dan Cormier.  If they take out Cormier, now all you've got are a bunch of 6-foot guards, the Knights & 6-3 Nick Carr.  I think they need to get some defensive stops.  Giving up 90 points 2 games in a row?

WW - Soule had bulked up to play linebacker in college. Having said that, he's always been a bit on the chunky side.
