Willy - Sorry I didn't say anything about Olaf and the Gusties...long weekend. That was my game of the night. I was very impressed how GAC kept the senior Banick under wraps (2A, 6TO) and the versatility they showed with Kaus and Wittwer only accounting for 9 total points.

I'm a little worried about CAR handing any full court pressure as they have a freshman PG, and not a seasoned vet like Banick. Although I have been saying that about every week so maybe I should have more faith in Weishdeshel and Biewen. Should be a good one.

Drake, I'd add Rosett to that list for most improved. He has really come on the last few weeks.

PTPer -  I like Rosett's game a lot.  One reason I didn't have him in my Most Improved category was that he made the Official ALL MIAC FY team last season.  Both Sam Paulson from GAC & Shane Flannery from Bethel got negligible minutes last year.

A week or so ago I compared Rosett's game to another soph, UST's David Baker.  Their physical build & on-court temperament seem real similar - quiet, laid back personalities.  But, Rosett is a much more effective & "confident" player at this point in their respective careers.  He's rangy, can board, fairly quick, nice footwork, can post up, or step outside to take the jumper, and is a sound defender.

Just a quick word about the rivalry talk:

There is nothing like UST/SJU- they have more of a history and the whole Catholic thing going toward a great rivalry. Although I'd say UST/GAC has been the best match-up over the last few years, there isn't quite anything like UST/SJU.

Just imagine UST is like the Packers- SJU is like the Bears, the true rivalry, while GAC is like the Vikings, who believe the real rivalry is with them.
(Reporter interviewing Charles Barkley after and altercation where he threw a fan out of a bar window)

Reporter: Charles, is there anything about the incident you regret?

Sir Charles: Yeah, that we weren't on a higher floor.

Should be a good game tonight as it will be the first real UST/SJU matchup for a lot of the UST players.  I hope there is a good crowd there tonight.  This was always one of the best games to play in.

I'm sure Big Man would want to get number five hundo against Jim Smith.  There is nobody he enjoys beating more.

Shocker, great analogy! +k

excellent comparison, BS. Although the Gusties tend to be less talk and more substance (and success) than the Vikes.

It's taken Fritz a few days over 5 years to go from #400 to the cusp of #500. That is a fast 100!

It will be over 6 years for Smith to get from #600 to #700 (he's at 680 now and can't possibly reach 700 till December).
After the game, the king and pawn go into the same box.

Lbow- I think Fritz gets 500 tonight. I have seen SJU play the last 3 times at the Shoe and it has been real ugly! Without Fogt's presence in the middle UST owns the paint.

Who is UST going to put on Brink. Is that a Teddy Archer assignment?

I bet they put Lonnie on him.  He's lock down and they'll put Teddy on him when he's in the game.

The thing is, UST doesn't usually own the paint.  They are a terrible rebounding team and their losses have been because they don't have anyone that controls the paint.

Should be fun.  Off to Groveland Tap!

Can anyone confirm this? Both are still shown on the roster. Or will we have to wait until Wednesday's game at UST to find out?

Honestly, neither player really seemed to fit in with the direction Trewick has been trying to go. At 1-14, cleaning house to rid a team of cancers (conjecture on my part) might not be a terrible thing. Will Carr join the mass exodus?

It creates an interesting opening in the leadership department for the talented youngsters. Will they step into a more prominent role? Ready or not, this could prove beneficial for the program in the long run.

I'd love to see a column in the Winona newspaper about this...but I doubt it will cause much of a ripple with WSU still riding high.
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

I can confirm that there have been changes, not sure who was let go, but SMU has cancelled their JV game with UST for Wednesday, not enough kids was the reason given...

Sum...listen on the net...maybe that will be "like" being there...

How can you possibly say thats a good thing?

Cormier leads team in rebounds and was third in scoring.... Both seniors and both captains. Both have given 4 years of hard work and they were both vital parts of the team.

Keep in mind this is Div. III...If he feels he needs to play freshman to get them experience...thats fine and thats his decision, but to get rid of your captains after they've proven themselves as hard workers and team players?  Program is steadily moving down-hill and something needs to be done.
