concordia of the north

if that's really what's going on, I'll join skibbity in denouncing it as rough treatment.  a mid-season expulsion of a captain and four year team member should only be the result of flagrantly inappropriate behavior on that player's part.  not even grumbling should merit such an action.
if you didn't foul out, you weren't trying hard enough...nancies

Couldn't make it to the game tonight because of snow- those roads leading south from the Cities to Northfield were nothing to mess with. Just realized that of the top four teams in the MIAC, they are all playing one another tonight. What a big night for the MIAC.

WW- looks okay for the GAC/BU game. I usually have a league game, but the team has a bye that week. Maybe I could get regular Shocker or my former roommate to meet you for the game.
(Reporter interviewing Charles Barkley after and altercation where he threw a fan out of a bar window)

Reporter: Charles, is there anything about the incident you regret?

Sir Charles: Yeah, that we weren't on a higher floor.

skibbity - Normally, I'd agree with you. However, on a team that's 1-14 and its best players are clearly a pair of freshmen, it's a tough argument. Especially when you just got housed by 27 at home for your third straight loss of at least 19 points — including an embarrassing 25-point loss to Augsburg. That's flatout unacceptable and I'm guessing some of that is a reflection of the senior leadership the team has received. Some might even say the towel was thrown in by some prior to making it official on Monday.

That said, neither senior captain started last game for the first time all season. The duo combined for just 6 points and 8 boards in 30 combined minutes.

Could something have happened in the last week that you haven't cared to report here? I'd wager a fair amount on it. Trewick and my boy Suge Knight seem like good people in my experiences with them, but this obviously smacks of something bigger than a simple disagreement.

Sidenote: You reported Rohr quit, but your latest post says he was axed by Trewick. Are you now trying it to change your story midtune (not to be confused with former Triton great Kirk Midthun)?

Not saying the SMU staff might not deserve a deeper look. With one rotation guy suspended earlier this year and the two senior captains now allegedly off the team, what's going on down 'bout? Sounds like a mess...

BS - Sounds good. Looks like I missed a great girls game tonight...I'm gonna be pissed if the guys is as exciting.
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

The reason Rohr quit was because of the coaching.... saying they took the fun and passion out of it for him.  This senior class started out with 9 or 10 freshman...coaching drove all but three of them out.  If that class would have stayed together and been on any other program, I'm telling you they would have had some good years.

Now, could the reason they got housed by 27 be because of the fact that they combined for just 30 min. of PT??.....Also take another look at the box score... Ben Nieman started the second half, a kid who hasn't played all year long.

This team didn't have a zone offense put in until right around x'mas break....Are you kidding me?? How can you be a college basketball team and not have a zone offense. This is also the reason they lost to MAC. I recall Mary's being up most of the game until mac went into a zone.  This program is a mess!

Also... Cormier was 3-6 from the field which isn't poor by any means and he had 6 rebounds in 21 min.  Holland playing just 2 more minutes was 4-12. and wright was 3-8.

Rohr, in 9 min. grabbed two rebounds and only attempted 1 shot...

I wasn't at the game, but looking at that I would say its not all that bad for Cormier or Rohr.

And as for Nick Carr....21 min. 0-4 from the field 0-2 from three's and 3 rebounds.

17-12 HU over MAC halfway through first half.......Piper webcast is a great thing!

43-33 HU over MAC at the half.  Tony Thrasher hits a 3 at the buzzer.  Piper defense is very active and aggressive, forcing a lot of loose balls and turnovers.  Carl Hipp has 9 points.  Conboy with 3 fouls.

WeRFans

Halftime at Hutton:  Pipes up 43 -33.
Conboy has 3 fouls.

83-83 going to OT at HU.  Abe with 31 to lead MAC.  Clute with 16.

Carleton announcing crew flabbergasted by two straight calls away from the ball in the final minute. The calls went for the Carlies and gave them 4 free points with the clock stopped to help almost erase a 5 (7?) point Gustie lead.

Guess who made the calls? Thee Asian Sensation.

Goose just missed the tying 3 with 5 seconds left off a good look. Kane drained two FT to ice it.

Gusties win by four...didn't catch the final score.

Pipers get a much needed win at home beating MAC 102-95 in OT.  Clute finishes with 26 points, 10 of which came in the OT.  Abe had 34 for MAC but did not score in the extra session until a late 3 when the game was pretty much over.  Conboy in foul trouble most of the night.  He finished with 18.

Drake Palmer

Very very tight first half at the Shoe.  Jays led must of the first half with Brink doing his impersonation of Magic Johnson & hitting cutters to the basket on the defensive over plays by Tommie defenders.   Bj Viau & Teddy Archer strapped with 2 early fouls hampered their pressure on Brink, plus cold 1st half shooting by UST.  Tommies squeak out the slimmest of halftime leads 33-32, & then explode in the 2nd half, & at times had leads of 15-16+ points.

Good ball game if you're a Tommie fan.  Payback could be a monster in C-Ville.  Joe Scott & tiny KyleTownswick get after each other on a rebound & both receive Ts in the closing minutes of the game.

PHEW, the pipers hold on after blowing a ten point lead.  Lot of players playing well and contributing.  Anderson, Thrasher, Clute, the big Goose, were all in double figures.  Zev DunKujolic had another nice dunk that he turned into a reverse.  Good win, much needed.

On another note, to answer questions on DunKujolic and his recent on off roster battle.  I found out at the game that he and Mike Kaiser quit the same day but Zev pulled a 180 and is now back on the team.

The Goose is loose on Snelling!!!!!!  The big man played very well for the pipers, it was good to see him get some run for once.
