A) i have never said madsen was a bad player.  I think he is a stellar player but has more around with him laugen and moberg then Brady does with lieser (playing as bad as he can right now..other then the fact he is not playing and fogt who was been out the whole season basically).

B) I am glad you pulled last years playoff because you could almost make a case that Brady could be most improved player.  Last year he averaged 5.5 rebounds a game and 7.9 pts a game.  He has more then doubled his pts per game and rebounds has increased greatly as well.

C) lot different last year when you have Ohme, Westman, and Schaefer on your team.  Brady did not have to put the team on his back like this year!!

D) Any word on why lieser did not play?

If leiser is out for the year look for the Johnnies to drop out of the playoff race fast.  They would be stuck starting 2 freshman, a senior pg who is not a scorer, and a sophmore post who is very RAW (although he did have an ok game last night) I would not expect to see that every night or maybe ever again!!   Brady is a great player but to carry a starting lineup like that is almost impossible in the Miac !!

I don't know VOJ.  St. Mary's wouldn't have any wins if it weren't for Will Wright.  Can either Brink or Madson make a similar claim about their teams?  What's that say about their roles in the success of their teams?   ;) :P

Nites are you pushing Will Wright for MVP?  Sorry to miss whatever point you were trying to make there...Brady is very important to the success of SJU...Madson is very important at Bethel, my point is that Madson is a hooper better yet a scorer, I think Brady makes those around him better, does Madson?  I am not sure about that

Good...I got the response I was looking for.

I agree, Bethel has to have a great rest of the year (which I think they will), and finish in the top 3 (I would argue top 4) for TM to get MVP!

This is for the sole purposes of a Brink vs. Madson debate:

You want to talk playoffs...

Brink's numbers in last year's two playoff losses (@ UST & @ Steven's Point)

32 Brady Brink.........    0-4    0-1    2-2    1  3  4   2   2  1  1  0  0  19

32 Brady Brink.........    1-4    1-2    4-4    2  3  5   4   7  1  2  0  1  24

Not exactly stellar!!

Anyway, I respect the SCOREBOARD comment.  That would be a huge win for Bethel in the second half (on the road vs. SJU)...and I will check back with you after they win that one.

Right now they just need to focus on the Pipers (who stole one from them at the beginning of the year)

I agree,  I do need some help on this board...at least one other person...a wingman!

It is good to be a Royal!

Bleed...do some research before you speak...Brink was the 6th man on that team, did not start and was not the focal part of the attack...however he was 6th man of the year in the MIAC...

Not at all.  Just dry humor.  St. Mary's is 1-15, I don't think even Drake could make a case for an MVP off of a 1-15 team.  Brink and Madson are both terrific players and it will be fun to see how the teams stack up at the end.

kind of like linz with two freshman and a raw but promising sophomore starting with him? hmm.

actually one of the freshmen in sju's lineup is scoring more ppg than both cobber freshmen combined. and the 'non-scoring' pg (i'm assuming you mean johnson) would be the fourth highest scorer on the cobber roster.

"brady is a great player, but to carry a starting lineup like that is almost impossible in the miac!!"  that's been the cobber lineup all year.  maybe linz is a little greater than brink?

sidenote: i don't think there is anything wrong with the cobber line-up.  the point is, brink isn't in such a hard luck situation that he should have a get out of jail free card.  he has enough to win.

Cord...you can make that point...I would be more apt to say that than than potshots that Brady has been taken on the board...

SJU4life...great points...course I said about the same thing and got dinged karma wise...instant justice some would say...

concordia of the north

brady is stud, madson = stud, wittwer is a stud, etc....

none of these guys deserve any flak. they get flak because they're good enough to be noticed.  i never took any heat in a cobber loss because it was always soren nelson's or eckhoff's fault, supposedly.

my ultimate motive is to continually level the hype playing field and show that, contextually, luke linz is as good or better than anyone in the league.

Taking potshots at Brink...I highly doubt I am doing that.  I stated...

He hasn't played well when I have seen him play...TRUE
Madson should be mentioned ahead of him in MVP debate...TRUE
He can't carry the team on his shoulder's like Madson can...TRUE

So...potshots...I highly doubt it.  I even give the guy credit "He hits the boards hard"...and you still get all defensive.  WOW!

If I am not mistaken I think you are the one to bring up Madson's playoff numbers.  I just countered by stating Brink's playoff numbers.

You just can't see past your blurred RED vision to hold a casual debate.

BTW...Bethel also had a different team last year (Meadowcroft, Strom, Moberg, and Laugen)...so he wasn't the only option either.

abominable_snowman

the snowman is back from the frosty air....but it seems like that's the only place the chill was. Lots of heat on the board here.

personal favorite highlights:  drake's "why I love this time of year" Parts 1-3.

WW- continuing to provide that spark of controversy.

TH4L's ranting

New post colors, visits from Pat Coleman, and MVP chatter.  Good stuff!

For those of you in the pickem, a large update has been posted.

And that's it for now.  More meaningful posts later.

I would say your glasses are colored gold and blue...and even though Bethel was a different team last year, he was still option number one or two at the worst?  And they still laid an egg at home against St. Olaf, right??

Brady was the SIXTH MAN...do you know what that means?  and he was 6th man of the year...not a starter, not the number one option a valuable reserve, compare apples to apples...

Poll question posters...you get one choice Brink or Madson to start a team with?  Who do you pick...

sju4life

Brink without a question.  Not only is he going to score, he will board, block shots, get steals and anything else a coach asks while shooting 50% from the field!!!

Alright - let's divert our attention elsewhere.  Sniff, sniff, I smell what?

Nah, nothing big but SMU backers & or anyone who was in attendance at the Shoe last night (Mose), what's the latest on Cormier & Rohr?  Did they go to the auto repair shop like Nick Carr to return in several weeks, or did they turn in their keys?
