Attention rookie posting here.

Maniac
There's a big difference between two players colliding while scrambling for a rebound, (when McCoy went down) and the cheap shots Archer was dealing. Archer had a blatant elbow to the neck of an Auggie after he tried to sweep the legs on a three point shot. It's all on the game films. Archer clearly waits for the Auggie to come up court and throws the elbow. Bush, very bush. Cassens only complained to the refs after the cheap shot, which occurred right in front of the Auggie bench and a ref, with no call. That's what I would expect from a captain.

Drake – Griess handled the incident fine. Archer was recruited by Augsburg and Griess knows the talent the kid has. He was just disappointed that he's stooping to the lowest form of play. Archer's play and antics are an embarrassment to Fritz and the Tommie program. I'm surprised Fritz doesn't try to control his behavior as the kid obviously has talent. Unfortunately, Archer is the self proclaimed Dennis Rodman of the MIAC, doing anything to garner attention, including the worst cheap shots, flops, the trash talk, and general arrogance. Unfortunately, he can't back it up like Rodman. (1-5 from the field, 1 rebound in 16 minutes).

Griess calmly talked to Archer for several minutes after the game and ended the conversation with a pat on the back. No real excitement around the conversation.

The refs were terrible and completely let the game get out of hand. Very inconsistent. Definitely some home cookin'.

On the other hand, Robinson should be a heavy favorite for All MIAC defensive team. I've seen him play several times and is one of the best defenders I've seen.
BTW, the Tommies I talked to after the game said no one can stand Archer. He's generally seen as a problem by his own fans.

seen him play or been handcuffed by him, Jon? What was the time lapse between whistle 1 & 2 on you?  Possible MIAC record?  :)

see previous post on bad karma.....  Never assume because when you assume you make an.....  you know the rest.

I've seen Robinson lock up more than one good guard this year. He's tough.

A long way home: a meandering post that will eventually return to the purpose of this board – a discussion of basketball.  ;)

Judges was always my favorite book of the Bible.

Apropos of nothing, one of the all-time cleverest album titles in music history is Lyle Lovett's Joshua Judges Ruth.

Nice interjection there Greg.  Although I'm not a huge fan of country music, songwriters who work in that field or related fields as Lyle Lovett does, seem to have a knack for turning out a clever album title, or double entendre.  I think some papers around the country still publish on occasion a list of the Best/Worst song titles of the year or recent memory.

I think Cmob might appreciate the sentiment, if not song title of one of my all-time favorites from the Best/Worst category –

"If I said you had a beautiful body would you hold it against me?"
Or, a song I heard over the Xmas holiday that was played on a show featuring worst songs of the holidays –

"My baby wants a diamond rock, but Santa's got the roll."

Judges was always my favorite book of the Bible.

I believe the verses we're looking for are:

Judges 15:15-16
Judges 16:17

Man, that religion minor was definitely worth it ::)

Hmmph, the things you can't learn on this board.  Once again I'm begrudgingly impressed with the formidable skills of Mr. Wonka.  But tell the truth -- you "googled" the verses right?  And, I thought you once said you had a Philosophy minor, or did you have a double minor?  ;)

TH4L - If no one else was at the game and people are spouting trash, I don't mind a player (who's posted before) chiming in with what actually happened. Besides, he agrees with my assessment of Robinson's D, so I have to like him :)

In matters of the heart – or the purple UST heart of Mose, when it comes to issues regarding his Tommies, he tends to lose his objectivity which clouds his otherwise lucid & wise view of the world of MIAC hoops.  ;D

Apparently, my initial report of the events at the AUG-UST game was correct.  I spoke once again with Tommie backer 2 (TB2) who had as much at stake in the outcome of the game than Mose.  TB2, along with several other Tommie fans saw the Archer situation play out.  They basically corroborated the description of the incident that the now dearly departed Dawg-Dude provided. Oops, I guess he's back – welcome back.  ;D

So maybe instead of trying to hang the moniker of Aaron on me, you might want try VOR – Voice of Reason.  Nah, that's' too close to VOJ.  How bout Elijah for the Old Testament prophet – Elijah, or Big E (Elijah/elder) for short?
***

Dawg – I like your style & for the most part I like Archers' style on the court, but I can't believe the UST coaches aren't at least aware of Mr. Archer's shenanigans.  He's quickly becoming the runaway vote-getter for Drake Palmer's PYLTH Award. From the Kris Humphies-like mugging for the students at STO, the dance @ Bethel, the myriad flops & moves against the Gusties, & now this?
***
MIACsuper  - It's typically fairly lightweight stuff around here. In light of what happened yesterday & the past week around the country at various colleges,  that was a real downer post.  I'd certainly be careful with comments like that.

Hoops4Life and MIAC – stay away from the legal or journalism fields. Assumptions on identity is what gets people in trouble.

Quote from: Dawg-Dude on February 15, 2008, 11:57:11 AM

As for Archer, it's the intent to injury another player that needs to be called out. The reference to other comments just proves it's his style. The MIAC has more class than that.

Touché. But I call 'em like I see 'em. I was an eye witness, since it happened right in front of me  :o. I think I'm still 20/20 ???. + the reaction from the crowd spoke volumes.   :-\

What's the point of all the secrecy?  Though it does make for a fun cover-up and what not, I have no problem with Jon Cassens posting on D3 hoops that he took a few elbows from archer and was not too happy about it.  He doesn't cross the line until he threatens somebody in the rematch, but that sure would add some intrigue to that next game.  If Augsburg had any fans that went to the games they could start chanting "jerkface" whenever Archer touched the ball.

on a side note--I love seeing that Augsburg might make the playoffs after starting the year poorly and being counted out by most of the prognosticators.  Maybe my head is still spinning a little bit after Nate Alm dunked over me (though he was called for traveling) from what seemed like the foul line in summer league a couple years ago.

Dawg Dude,

I respected your skills in high school, but you're nothing short of pathetic for posting on here and making us think you're somebody other than who you really are. Wait till you get your degree, then feel free to post.

I've known Teddy Archer since he was about 12 years old. I wouldn't be surprised to see a few things happen on the court in the heat of the moment, but the kid is a class act off the court.

Hoops4Life and MIAC – stay away from the legal or journalism fields. Assumptions on identity is what gets people in trouble.

Hoops – I hope your bball skills are better than your investigative skills (weak sauce). I'm not Jon. We may have a common last name but that's it. And never call out an active player on a post where you don't know it's them. That's just bad karma. Knowing Jon's personality, he's way above a stunt like posting here on another player. Shame on you.

For the record, I'm a UST grad and donate to the athletic program every year. I'm embarrassed as an alum when I see a player go after another like Archer did, even in the heat of battle. No call for it. Fritz must not have seen it since Archer stayed in the game. Knowing Fritz, if he had Archer would have gotten some bench time.

I like UST defense. They play in your face, baseline to baseline D. That's why there at the top on what was expected to be a down year.

For the Auggies, can't help but wonder where they'd be if Krum was still there. It might not have been such a slow start.

The Aug – Cord game is make or break for the Dawgs. At 10-10 they would be leaving their fate to the tie-breaker.

If you're a UST grad then why is your name Dawg-Dude?

C-Mob, I loved the recap of your Valentine's Day. We should do a 3-way call and you can listen in while I ask if she likes you. When are you heading to the Windy City?

Plus i doubt that anyone here is CIA or knows a whole lot about investigative field.  Except for the Mafia Guy, he seems to know his way around Boombahlaties, Triple Burgers, Roller skates, and covers the MIAC!  No one man can do that much.  Somethin is fishy there.....

fishy is right! speaking of fish did anyone drop the line on their valentine..."hey sweet thang...how about you and me go have a fish sandwich"

im a man of mystery and the only mystery is which of the boombalahties will fall for me next...

well im not gonna lie...but i went down to the resturaunt in the basement of my office building and ordered a mushroom and swiss burger...i brought it back to my desk and ate it while i read over all those posts...i actually had burger juice running down my chin but i couldnt get myself to put the burger down because i was so into what i was reading and the burger was just that good

my conclusion of the readings

A LOT OF TENSION IN HERE TODAY!!  :D

if any of this has to do with sexual frustrations from last night refer back to the CMOB happy hour workout boombalahty plan that i posted last friday...its a golden opportunity to put it in play...especially with some boombalahties still grieving over the fact they did not get flowers...the lunges usually lock the deal

im off to chicago in 3 hours...i will visit the magical land called rush street and i will visit many drinking establishments...i shall spread the word of the MIAC and i will defend its honor...i just hope they allow entrance to my sword and my noble steed

AO - I won't post the website's Terms of Service in it's entirety but here's a link & an excerpt you might be interested: D3 Sports Terms of Service

8. Are you an active player? We welcome you aboard, but your coach might not be a big fan of it. You might want to check. Are you a new recruit? Here's a hint -- people will see your e-mail address, so that message you're about to post asking if anyone has heard about this great shooting guard from Soandso High School isn't such a great idea. [added 10/26/04]

I'll also add that I just did a little basic sleuthing (it was legal D-D  ;)) & if Dawg-Dude says he's not the aforementioned Augsburg player, I'd believe him.

Fellas...

Can't we all just get along?  Can't we all just get along?  Agree to disagree...you may not agree with my point but defend my right to say it.  (I think D'taquiville said that, but government majors would know better than a guy who slid through a state school and picked up a communications degree)...Come on every body...join in...Kum bye ah my lord Kum bye ah...(phonetics work best in my field) oh lord Kum bye ah...

So it got a little chippy during the Aug-UST matchup...that is what makes a rivalry, a friend of mine who has an Auggy slant felt they got homered by the officials...opinions are like hair styles...everyone has a different do...or take for that matter...

Great games this weekend...J's mission (and they have accepted) win over the Pipes, which won't be easy, and they are IN THE PLAYOFFS!!!

I will be at Hutton say hi if you are around...

The Dude- i believe you are not Jon Cassens, i was just saying it would be easy to assume who you were by the e-mail address that you posted under initially, and you now changed your e-mail address which i will not post up on here for "privacy reasons" (you can click on his name to find it out).  It seems assumptions are made on this board all the time.  Everyone makes mistakes.  Also, you could find any MIAC players e-mail by going to their website and searching for them, it is kinda public information.

That's not necessarily true.   It depends upon the individual school's policy & whether or not a student has signed a consent release form.  Also if you're logged into the school's Intranet with a valid school email account you can do so.

F'rinstance, fairly easy directory to access at your school - Hamline, but not so much at Augsburg & UST.  Try it.
