How will SJU fans turn out? I'm hearing some of the usual fickle excuses I hear in down years at SJU ("my wife is washing her hair that night" being my favorite). SJU fans that would walk thru fire to attend an SJU/Mac football game cant bring themselves to watch the SJU/UST hoops game where there is at least a 50/50 chance Da Big Red Machine will get beat??

SJU has a long and storied tradition of being frontrunners. This is well documented. Heck, look at the CSB poster who calls out lil Gags every year on the football boards after a loss.

If a 9-1 regular season and the top-ranked offense is enough to draw criticism in football, it should no surprise how poor the support for the hoops team has been since big Bigalke graduated back in 2000-01.

Wonka...although I don't totally agree with the term front-runners the lack of support for the program the last two years has been disgusting...I don't think most people realize that last years team went to the NCAA tournament for cryin out loud...the attendance for the playoff game vs Loras was bad, but the weather was awful that night and of course no freebies for the students into an NCAA game, but still a 20 win team should have gotten better support...it will be interesting to see how many show up on Senior Night against the Tommies, I would hope enough to fill up the sides, but maybe not enough to pull out the end zones...

I believe Brady also makes it onto the FG% at 10th place which is a catagory you missed him for.  Therefore he is the all out winner!!!!

Assuming the tommies do not lose going into the last game of the year vs SJU do they need to play all that hard or could the tommies rest players if they wanted too??
The Tommies are so deep and get such good production off the bench that there is no need to rest anyone.

SUMMIT!!!!!

VOJ-- isnt it kinda sad to have to "hope" to fill the gym for UST? I remember far too many times (as recently as 2001-02 season) where, if you werent there by 6, you stood. The remodel of Warner and turning into Sexton has ruined what was once an excellent venue for hoops. It killed the intimacy and turned it into a cavern (im not saying bring back the sponge rubber floor but the original Warner was as good as hoops gets outside the Barn).  As you recall, 2 years ago it sounded and looked like more UST supporters were there than SJU fans. I'm not sure if the sucess of football has spoiled SJU fans/students or what, but I find it sad. Either that or WW is dead on in caling SJU fans frontrunners.

I'm sorta disappointed that we don't have a bunch of spout offs & rabble rousers on here & at the games. Makes the games & board more entertaining. 8)

PTPer or TH4L or any one else in the know -

I'm sure I won't get much sympathy from Mose, who sounds like he's heading into the frozen heart of the tundra - Moorhead; but In the event I decide to avoid the bitterly, cold windswept prairies of Ramsey, Dakota & Rice counties & not drive down for the Oles Carlies game tonight – will Carleton be doing a webcast of the game?  Looking at the Knights' website this morning it seems Carleton will do a broadcast.  Yes, No?

TommieHoops4Life

I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Carleton do a webcast of the game. It's a huge game for both teams, one of the few times that more than just the Goat Trophy is at stake. I'll be there tonight covering the game, should be interesting after talking with Kalland and Koz earlier this week. Skoglund will have a festive atmosophere tonight.

St. Olaf will have audio and Carleton will try to provide audio and video at http://apps.carleton.edu/athletics/assets/bcastarchive0708.html. Skoglund has wireless access only, so we're not too sure how fast it will be and what the video quality will be.

Willy Wonka

That settles it then, assuming Luddy comes through for us.

Wonka's not leaving his house today and will watch Shaq smash Kobe's face AND watch the Ole/Carlie matchup online from the comfort of his couch.

MM - Please don't question me ever again. To steal a quote from Tyson...my power is discombobulatingly devastating all I could feel is muscle tissues collapse under my force. It's ludicrous these mortals even attempt to enter my realm.

As for my being called "The Pope"...how's this for another Tyson response?

There's no one perfect. We're always gonna do that. Jimmy Swaggart is lascivious, Willy Wonka is lascivious -- but we're not criminally, at least I'm not, criminally lascivious. You know what I mean? I may like to fornicate more than other people -- it's just who I am. I sacrifice so much of my life, can I at least get laid? I mean, I been robbed of my most of my money, can I at least get a thunder beej without the people wanting to harass me and wanting to throw me in jail?
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

So here are the numbers..... First, if each player was in the top ten for a category, where did he place.

Second how many categories was he a top 10 contender, and finally, what was his average rank.

The winner by numbers is Brady Brink

A few games to go though.

If you find another player that would do well, feel free to provide their position.  I have nobody from Bethel on here.

Hunter gets on this "short-list" and Madson does not...absolutely hilarious!!!!

it appears he just took the top player off the top 6 teams in the miac...as of now BU is not a top 6 team...with BU being the miac favorite coming into the year and the way they have performed Madson does not even deserve to be anywhere near the conversation

spot on, CMobb...I dedicate my next trrriple burger to your genius

It is a toss up between Wittwer, Linz and Brink.... these last 1-2 games will decide it.

This was more the true intention of my post.  Trying to throw some hard evidence at the discussion.

No offense intended to any of the Royals.  And as I was looking at things, these categories were almost split between Moberg and Modson, with neither really having a commanding grip. (But my memory  could be fuzzy).

Ok, more random musings.  So yesterday I'm at the doctor's office getting my knee checked out.   Like a good sports medicine doctor/orthopedist, the clinic has copies of Sporting News, Sports Illustrated & ESPN magazines.  And like a good doctor, the wait really wasn't too bad,  ???  but I was still able to skim through 1.5 magazines before my appointment was finished.  What's everyone's personal preference in magazine -- Sporting News, Sports illustrated or ESPN?

Maniac,

I would suspect the crowd to be actually smaller than SJU's season average this Saturday vs. St. Thomas. It is Long Weekend, meaning, the students have this Thursday and Friday off. Some may come back early for the game, but not many.

VOJ

I like the Sporting News...the feature articles are better in SI...but the inside info is better in SN...

Thanks but no thanks, too cold for the kid.  When you say "Bear Truck" this is the image that comes to mind
   ;)

By the way, how much sleep do you get at night?  I see you were on here posting at the ungodly hour of 4:48 in the AM??  On a bad night, that's when Wonka goes to bed.  ;D

I beg to differ. Any time I stay up that late, it's usually a good night :)

The bad nights are the ones where I stay up that late and then have to lifeguard old ladies at arthritis class at 8 am :-[

Now quit posting things that I find more interesting than this sweet flood story from 1969 I'm trying to rehash from old articles...

It don't matter what is going on in Northfield or wherever, the rumblin Auggies are ready to stomp all over all of you. That's right - put it on the board - W!!!!!

Femi "MVP" Solaja will score 40...a little birdie says Van der Stoep will break out tonight...and Gholson is a tested playoff player. Once we done with whoever we play tonight - bring it Bethel!

PI are you switching horses in mid-stream or just taking up for a team that has no posters??
