I try to stay away from making predictions but i will predict a great, close game ;D.  This week needs to hurry up.

sorry LC, misread your post - I get what you mean - judging by your team's depth at the post (4 guys, about?) that could cause us a little trouble.  We go three deep at the post (Baker, Eicher, The Real McCoy) and could use Shimek, a good defender, if we needed to.

You mentioned that BV would prefer a slower tempo game because of the post play.  Is pressure or quick tempo a problem for the Beavs?  Or were you just saying that, all things considered, against UST a lower tempo would be better?

LCfan

While I am a Loras fan, having seen BV a handfull of times (streaming video is great and every DIII school should have it) I would say they are at their best when they take their time.  That being said I do think that they have the guards to play an up and down game (just think it would be in their interest to pound it inside.. should make some open looks for Wagner and Co.).  Should be a great game.  Is it Fri. yet?  Can anyone give any info on Whitewater?

SLP-O-8

I think BV wont have any trouble getting up and down the floor.  Both Franklin and Wagner are very quick.  Wagner will pull up in transition for a 3.  VH is one of the best coaches in all of D3 and will have something ready for UST.

A couple of comments –

Lcfan -- isn't this basically the same Loras team that won the IIAC conference last year, came up to MN in the opening round of the playoffs & lost in OT to St. Johns?  That same St. Johns team would travel the following week to UW- Stevens Point & get spanked by the Pointers.

I've seen the 07-08 UW-Whitewater team play & they're a tough, physical, very quick, disciplined team.  My guess is that the IIAC doesn't have a team that is as tall, athletic & as quick as your Duhawks; but Loras has probably not seen a tall, athletic team as fast as Whitewater.  It should be a very interesting match up.

Based on his comments from the past several days, it seems Willy has given up his woodshed mugging notion & jumped on the McCoy bandwagon.

So it seems only appropriate that we have a foreclosure sale:

How many tickets were given to each team?  I think BV was given like 220 or something for at least the students because in a couple hours there are only around 40 left.  Hopefully we can bring a good crowd down to this game.

5. Beaver fans typically travel well...and aren't afraid of "You got fat chicks!" chants.

here is a chance for the UST boombalahties to make a name for themselves like the florida st girls did on national tv in their football game against miami 2 or 3 years ago

they should all go to the tanning booth a couple times this week...wait a second they probably already do that if they are UST girls or they will be getting back from a weekend get away to mexico or something...and then they should all show up in their best spring break swimsuit attire

this will confuse the BV fans as they will melt down when they realize they cant do the fat chicks chant because they are drooling for the boombalahties...it will also be a nice distraction for the BV players who will forget what they are in the gym for

and then after UST wins AK47 will walk out of the gym with all the boombalahties on his arms and he will make everyone jellous

this was a huge mistake UST made against Carroll last year...if ya got the boombalahties...ya gotta use em!!

what a joke...are you telling me that Brady does not belong on the 1st team?  Joe Scott is a nice player but he is not the all around player Brady was this year...and Conboy as player of the year, another guy not on the first team and from a team which did not sniff the post season?  How many drinks were had before this list was made up? Sorry folks but these awards on not worth the AL Gore invented internet space they are written on

First off, a panel of 6, who I felt could be impartial and unbiased, including former players and people who avidly follow the MIAC voted in these awards. One of the former players was a Johnnie, and only 1 of the 6 has a tie to UST. Since the MIAC is weak at the traditional center position, we voted for 3 Fwd/Post/Center and 3 Guards, a nod to the fact the league is "guard-heavy." Brink finished tied for 4th on the front line.  A good argument can be made for him, Conboy and even Solaja, but to put one of them ahead of Johnson, Linz or Wittwer? No way, no how. (Scott was voted in at guard, so your comparison is apples and oranges.)

I had considered asking you to be part of the selection process, but the idea of a ballot with Sam Blank, Cole Isett, and "Machinegun" Lieser on the first team, was too laughable. Then you further undemine your creditabilty by not knowing who JJ Palmer is. Maybe the red tint is too heavy on your specs? :)  If he was at SJU, you'd be asknig to have him inducted to the Hall of Fame by now. There is plenty of talent located past the end of the entrance ramp from SJU-- which is one big reason the Js finished where they did.

Of course, you completely erode your cred by repeating the urban legend of Gore claiming to invent the internet....check http://www.snopes.com/quotes/internet.asp

Now, brush off your skills for the hockey finals tonight... scratch that, you wont be airing that game  :)  ;D ::)(will you be broadcasting baseball this spring?) (this paragrph of course is tongue-in-cheek)

haha any of them down to party after the game...i think BV has probably the best fans in the IIAC and they are flat out rowdy at home.  Hopefully we can get some of them up to the game so we can have a great crowd on both sides.

BV has some crazy fans...i saw them when i went to see CAR square off with UW-Stout 2 years ago in the opening round of the tourney down in the Quad Cities

i wish i could attend the game as i think it should be a good crowd and very entertaining but i will be in NYC

tell the BV fans to make their way to downtown Minneapolis and they should find plenty of fun at Sneaky Pete's, 508 Club, Bootleggers or any of the other bars in the area as long as they stay away from the sausage party at Brothers...or if they want to check out the college bars the Library Bar at the U of M is a good time with cheaper drinks than you would get downtown

Mose...first point...Brink slightly outplayed Linz and Wittwer in head to head matchups this year if you look at the totals...yes his team did not do as well as theirs but since your player of the year was off the 10th place team I see any point being made as valid.

I would have gladly taken the opportunity to be included and the only Johnnie I would have had on either team would have been Brady and he would have been on the 1st team, player of the year would have been Zorro for the way he elevated his play late

Oh and if you are wondering why I have not heard of JJ Palmer(I actually have heard of him as he was on the all name team of Drake's to begin the year)...well the 9 minutes per game and 3 points and 2 rebounds are not exactly attention grabbers, in fact he only played in one game against SJU and I think was on the floor for all of 7 minutes and 1 point ...Schwartz' 13ppg 4 reb 2 ast and 37% shooting from beyond the arc should get him on the all Frosh team...

oh and the Gore comment was a joke...kinda like your list...no hockey tonight from the MIAC, however the Bear is your home for the State hockey tournament or AM 950 in the cities(at night) if you are down there.

I will do baseball if the J's make it to the MIAC postseason as they did last year and I did 3 games...

VOJ - I'll stay out of the CSN post season awards debate, but I believe CSN deliberately makes a distinction between POY – best individual statistical year, and MVP - the individual who best helped his team achieve success.  And success usually being defined as - a team that finishes in the hunt for a playoff spot.  Using those definitions as a guideline -  I don't think too many people would argue about Conboy's selection.  The guy had an awesome year. The MVP debate could go on all month.  ;D

Regarding the FY team – I think Dawg was borrowing a page from my book & using clever naming combinations to select his team – i.e. Rosy Palmer.  But not unlike the rest of the league awards, this year had to be one of the deepest FY classes in recent memory.

I won't officially  ::)  ;) name a Palmer All FY Team, but here are 6 I think will get serious consideration by the coaches:

Will Wright – SMU
Lukas Holland – SMU
Chris Schwartz – SJU (there are you happy? and he deserves it)
Carter Biewen – CARL (the Carlies keep their streak intact & have a FY selected)
Tyler Nicolai – UST
And a tie between Karl Olson and or Erik Lien from Concordia.  (I'd bet money one or both of these players will be named.  Because of the poor SMU W-L record, that could negate them getting two players selcted All FY.  If that's the case, I could see the Cobbs having 2 players named. )
