Congratulations to Luke Linz.

Congratulations to Kane Sivisend. He deserves every one of those accolades. He's not very flashy, and that's precisely what makes him an outstanding player. To any Sivisend doubters, let me ask just one question: If you could make entire team out of Kane Sivisend, would you? I know I would.

A few years ago, I felt nervous when he was on the floor. He seemed like the guy who couldn't handle the ball because he was tall, couldn't play in the post, and was shaky on defense. Fast forward a few years, and I felt considerably more nervous when he was on the bench. He can defend anybody, help out on the boards, dribble the ball up the floor, and blend with the offense. And as we saw last Saturday, he hits the big shots. He's really one of those players who is so good you don't begin to notice everything he is doing on the floor. He will be missed in St. Peter.

i am not so sure that kane's lack of flashiness is why he is good, but i have said it before on this board, that this kid is a good player.   he is long, and tough,  and did a nice job of defending some of the best players in the league.   and how many times this year did he have to take over the leadership role on the floor with wittwer in foul trouble time and again.   i think it would have been too bad if he HADN"T made all-conference.    :o
he will definitely be a big loss to the gusties!

i kept hearing about how the league was down this year, but if you take a look at the list of players on the 15 man coaches all conference roster----i'd say that is a pretty solid group of ball players representing this
year's miac. :)

What......No Teddy Archer on the all MIAC sportsmanship team!  :D

Can't argue too much about the post-season awards.  I did however think Tony Thrasher would make the all-conference team.  Here's a question for everyone.  Does anyone else think that at the Division III level that winning is tied with post-season awards regardless of whether or not the player's ability warrants it?

On a related note, I looked at the WIAC awards and Stout senior Miles Webb, who led the league in scoring, but was on a team that grossly underachieved, wasn't on the first team either.  Coincidence ???

Aloha, which means hello and goodbye.

Hello, because I am here; goodbye because in about an hour I will begin my quest into drunken revelry leading up to tomorrow nights game (it is a thirsty thursday with no class and an NCAA tourney game tomorrow, life is good at UST)

i agree with the awards almost exactly although my purple blood would have liked to see Al "Dreads in yo' face" McCoy on the All D team.

As far as predictions for tomorrow go - I can predict a few things.

1 - I have converted a couple of VERY fare weather fans into coming WITHOUT ipods or cell phones; so I predict they will cheer.

2 - I predict that BV's "you have fat girls" will be utterly useless and untrue.

3 - I predict that with a name like the Beavers - cheers should be easy to come by... especially if any of their guys are sporting beards.

4 - The UST head cheerleader will do 6, count em, 6 crazy jump kicks at the end of a routine.

5 - Lonnie d's up Wagner, Viau takes advantage of (judging from the limited film on youtube) slower forwards and posts, Al gets the crowd into it (sold out I'm told - thank god), and Scott and Nicolai keep their heads on and hit double digits.

6 - Tommies try to get the ball up and down the floor

7 - They succeed in accomplishing point 6.

8 - UST 77 - BVU 65

Whoa whoa whoa, let me get this straight. Loco thinks someone from Hamline is better than they really are? Shocking! ::)

tommiepitcher - Please pay attention to Professor Wonka when he's at the podium. The BV cheer is "You got fat chicks!" :)

Drake - I've already told Kane that I'm going to light him up in a month at the alumni tourney. We'll see how much that award means after I drop my standard 4 points, 4 boards and 3 floor burns on him.

Westie - Any chance you've still got that "Beaver Den" shirt you traded some girl for at the bar a few years back? It might help spruce up my attire for tomorrow night as I help the BV faithful heckle Archer.
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

I will be supporting a Beaver Nation shirt to help cheer on the beavers.  I plan on being very under the influence due to not driving up north and booze cruising the whole way.  Good Luck to both teams and have a great game!
You have ONE advantage over me.....you can kiss my a$$ and I can't!!

And, double post for good reason (****, Lost is on in nine minutes):

A very long time ago (seven years to be exact), I was truly a Piperinsider.

As my illustrious career has taken off from such great treasured cities (Olivia and Hutchinson), I'm now more the Piperoutsider.

Unfortunately for me, Josh Hanson stole that name.

There were the good times (the run of 2003, a playoff win over SJU and a 1st place start this season) and some bad times (every other year), but through it all, unlike many my age, I still make a daily venture to D3Hoops to give what little input I have.

I pledge the next 1,000 posts, I will do the same. Whether's its burger talk, basketball talk, or "It's a good day to be a Piper." I just have one request - who is Drake Plamer, and will he please stand up? I hope I find out now that I've hit 1,000.

+k to everyone. Go Tommies tomorrow at the Shoe! Long live MIAC basketball.

Where's Ike when you need him? I feel like he and McCoy could make the MIAC equivalent of this video...
