You sound a little derogatory with your comment there AO.  Should we dig up some game footage from your playing days?  ;)

Good luck with that.  There are plenty of AO's dunking on youtube, but it might be a little more worthwhile to look for Stephen Hanson throwing down for Northwestern.  The best d3 dunker in Minnesota does not play in the MIAC.

i went to a summer basketball camp at montana state university my junior year in high school...the first day we were there this kid from Canada was throwing down some sick nasty dunks when we were all shooting around...i was like that kid is unreal

the next day when we started playing games and doing drills we all realized he sucked at basketball and all he could do was jump...no jump shot...couldnt dribble...couldnt box out...couldnt catch a pass...he was worthless

you could very well have the best dunker...i dont know who that kid is but just sayin  ;)  ;D

AO - is this that dunk?

Also, if somebody dunks and it doesn't count, AND it is in the UMAC, does anybody care?  ;D ;)

Excellent point Prophet.  ;D Being that we are running out of some steam on topics, who would we nominate for best D3 dunker in the state?  Obviously we can't count anyone from the UMAC - ha,ha.  :-*  Ok just a real quick mention Stephen Hanson from NW has definitely got some upps, his brother Daniel can get up there too, but not quite as explosively as little Hanson. Also Brady Zubke from St. Scholastica has got some hops.
Alright enough of the UMAC, this isn't their board.  ;)

Leapers in the MIAC

Brink
Wittwer
Baron
Carr
Doble
Halvorsen - UST
Archer
Rosett
Viau

Anyone else?

I loved the tomahawk dunks by Scott & Viau, & it was great to see the drop step dunk by Halvorsen.  I always wanted to see Ike pull that one off but I never did. Next year my wish is to see either a K-R-A-Z-Y windmill dunk or the Jordan dunk.

I would think the players with the most potential to do either the windmill or the Jordan would be Carr or the Baron. But if they continue to stay in their coaches' doghouse they may never get the chance to show their skillz. I think my guy Viau may work on a few tricks this off-season, hopefully this is in addition to developing a killler J. Get more air under that release.  ;)

Steve's dunk on youtube was not in UMAC competition, UW-Superior had a pretty nice team and made a run in the WIAC tourney.

As far as leapers in the Hanson family, Daniel's not close to Steve--if Cal Poly makes it to their tourney final you could watch older brother Matt who also has good ups- though he'll look to shoot the three before driving and throwing it down.

if you wanted to see Ike thrown down some sick dunks, you could have went to the Howard Pulley league this past summer.  He looked to be the best leaper there among all the D-1 talent.

MiacLostProphet

DUNKujolic could throw the windmill in his young gun days, but now a seasoned vet i wonder if he has the legs to do it.  Wittwer is an amazing dunker.  his freshman year he threw down a dunk at gustavus that made me wish i could jump higher.

just got wind of a rumbling down in the southlands.

perhaps another resignation on the way....just at rumor status right now.

BETHEL34

THIS JUST IN!!![/b]

Inside sources over at Bethel are saying that Nate Robertson, who was a sophomore this year at UWRF, will be transferring to Bethel.  He has been a two year starter over at UWRF and he didn't want to follow in his older brothers footsteps by going to Bethel right out of High School.  Also, going from one of the worst teams in a tough WIAC to next year possibly one of the Top in the MIAC with his addition, doesn't sound too bad if I was in his situation.  If this does truly go through, what a huge pick up for Bethel as he will be an amazing fill at the 4 spot playing along side Moberg at 6-7.  He has averaged 13.5 pts a game over his first two years and just under 7 rebs a game.  He could be that missing piece Bethel couldn't find this last year to get over the hump.  This could be really Good news for Royal backers.

* Don't be surprised if former DeLaSalle basketball star Cam Rundles transfers from Montana to Wayne State or the University of St. Thomas.

Speaking of dunks:
* Timberwolves guard Marko Jaric, who is 6 feet 7, has just one dunk all season.

Is Bethel a for sure if he transfers?  As I recall, Carleton was very much in the hunt for him out of high school and speculation was that he was going there if he went MIAC.

I heard that same rumor last weekend at the UST – BV game. I wonder if Shooter listens in on the same conversations.  :o ;) I certainly wouldn't be surprised if Rundles transferred.  His minutes really dropped off this year compared to last year when he was a FY starter & blowing kisses at Dan Munson for not signing him when Montana upset the Gophers last year.  I'm just not so sure if Rundles would transfer to D3 UST, or to D2 Wayne State where another one of his HS buddies, Jamar Diggs plays.

If in fact Rundles does show up at UST, he could be the nasty piece that could put the Tommies over the edge.  He's a legit, strong, reasonably quick, mostly pass first type of PG & excellent defender. For lack of a better comparison, think a poor man's Jason Kidd. I can see the Tommies go to a spread type offense, let Rundles drive & dish, post up smaller defenders & move Nicolai to a 2G spot.  I would think the Tommie biggs would love to get Rundles.  Team chemistry might be a challenge but the old psychology instructor, assistant coach Johnny Tauer might be up to the task.

Snow – is this rumor coming out of N-Field or further south in the River City?

Bet34 – Nate Robertson would certainly be a nice addition, but in the talent arms race, I don't know if a "Robertson" trumps a "Rundles."  Both teams – Bethel & UST would be loaded if these transfers actually materialize.

Somebody's got to sign this Aaron Anderson kid out of Stillwater – the kid can shoot.  Course, I said the same thing about Aaron Van der Stoep out of Ellsworth last year.   :D FY Van Der Stoep may still come around, but I've seen this Anderson kid do his thing against some large school talent here in the cities. Night after night he's had to go up against tougher, faster competition than what Van der Stoep  faced in high school.  The kid can shoot.

Looks like Robertson suffered from the Sophomore Jinx this year as he went from D-3 First Team for First Years when he averaged 14.6 pts. a game, to a 9.8 pts per game this year and only 22 minutes of playing time a night.  All of that with a bottom dwelling team.  At 6-7, 225, he'd be a nice puzzle piece for any MIAC team.

if my memory is correct he was going there until he couldnt get in because they said his grades and test score were not high enough
