Looks like Robertson suffered from the Sophomore Jinx this year as he went from D-3 First Team for First Years when he averaged 14.6 pts. a game, to a 9.8 pts per game this year and only 22 minutes of playing time a night.  All of that with a bottom dwelling team.  At 6-7, 225, he'd be a nice puzzle piece for any MIAC team.

I saw UWRF play 2-3+ times this year & to some degree you're right, Robertson's development did drop off.  But perhaps the biggest factor was the loss of starting  PG - Jonte Kooenkaew to a season ending knee injury & other injuries & academic diffculties that practically wiped out the River Falls guards this year.  Post players can't shoot if guards can't/ won't get them the ball.  I'll let Wonka follow up with the Bethel rim shot.  ;)

Robertson would be huge for Bethel. That's the kind of physical, bloody nose, big man that Bethel needs. That young J.J. Palmer was trying to do it, Robertson is just a better, more versatile version.

When you have two strong rebounders instead of one, it is a whole different ball game.  It's not like shooters, where the more you put out there the more they can detract from each other. With rebounders, things are easier for each other. Think defensive linemen. If you have two or three good ones, they aren't as easy to double team, and you can lock down both sides of the play. Bethel will now have a 6'8 fella on the strong side, and a physical 6'7 on the weak side (where 70% of the boards end up). If I was robertson or moberg, that prospect would make me drool....and then it would make others uncomfortable.
if you didn't foul out, you weren't trying hard enough...nancies

... and then Moberg and Robertson can fight each other over who gets to inbound the ball after a made basket so he can at least say he touched the ball on offense even if he didn't get a chance to shoot.    :P

Nope - not even then.. Usually, the 3 gets to inbounds the ball.  ;)

I heard the Robertson rumor from a former forest lake player as well.  He said Robertson was transferring to Bethel next year.  But again, if you have the "best" post players in the MIAC, but nobody can throw an entry pass, does it really matter?

localcoach

I've been out of town for a while and it looks like the board has been fairly active.  Here's what I can add to the many recent posts.

1) The 6-8 post from Eagan is Garrett Bassett and he's actually about 6-10.  A big, big body, but he's a ways away.  Could develop into a nice MIAC post though.  I too had heard that the Johnnies had a leg up on everyone for his services.

2) I have it on good word that Cameron Rundles is not leaving Montana, so don't get too excited Tommie fans.  And if for some reason he does transfer look for him to stay at the Division I level as I know for a fact that there are two schools that would take him tomorrow.  Going Division I to Division III rarely happens.  That's a major lifestyle change for a player.

3) Drake - You mentioned Mr. Anderson from Stillwater, I too really like his game.  He's not a big time athlete but he can sure shoot the ball.  He has to end up in the MIAC somewhere, doesn't he?

4) I know that Nate Robertson chose River Falls over Hamline out of high school.  I wonder if the Piper staff can get him on the rebound, if in fact he leaves UWRF.

5) Well spoken prophet.....making a post entry pass is a lost art!

just got wind of a rumbling down in the southlands.

perhaps another resignation on the way....just at rumor status right now.

I took this as St. Mary's. They are south, and the key word is "another."

Rumblings of a resignation...which one of the Northfield duo will be hanging it up??

PI...this is what made me assume it was CAR or Olaf

i cant really see either of these coaches resigning though...Olaf has a good recruiting class coming in and Koz was at the Kennedy game on tuesday night

Kalland wouldnt resign but rather retire if he were to step down

therefore it must be SMU

Sum - while you've been AWOL from MIAC Conversations, have you been hanging out in hostile territory?  Last time time I looked you were at 699 & the week before that up in the 700 K club. I'll see if if I can push you back to at least 698.  ;)

DP, Must have hacked someone off somewhere. I was up to 702 at one time! I haven't even been over on the FB board. I did venture over to the WIAC board last week, but i thought my visit was amiable. :o

Not sure if it's been made official here, but the rumor has been confirmed by SMU. Trewick and his wife are both leaving.

I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

Hoops Junkie

Nate Robertson- had a bad sophomore year because he snuck up on people as a freshman in the WIAC and did not surprise anyone as a soph.

Someone said that he was tough, wow that might be the biggest exaggeration of the century.  I saw him 3 times on the year and he was soft.

MiacLostProphet

Some say soft.  Some say  to Bethel?  hmm.... :D ;D

Imagine my surprise when I walk into the gym in Howard Lake and I find two MIAC friends in WXYZ and Bethel assistant Dan Perrel. I think Dan forgot that I met him four years ago at the Grey Fox Inn (or is it Blue or Red) in Arden Hills. Good to see WXYZ making the trip out west to watch Rockford beat Sibley Easy and Glencoe-Silver Lake upset Metro No. 10 Mayer Lutheran.

He may have a nicer camera, but I'd like to compare my top shots to his. ;D I had a good night.
