Johnnie backers are very familiar with the Ursinus, PA team that is in the final 4. Ursinus throttled the J's last year down in Daytona 73-49. I think the only person they graduated from that team was Matt Fabian. Fabian was probably the most physical player I saw all of last year.

It seems St. Mary's isn't/hasn't been very good at all...I see the coach stepped down.  Can one win there? OR is it just a school/mbb position that has NO CHANCE to be successful? Thx

My friend who is my old Timberwolves boss is getting Flip Saunders basketball camp set up for him and they just opened registration.  He asked me to forward the information on to anyone who may be able to spread the word to the basketball community so I thought I would forward the information to everyone here incase they know people who would be interested.

The camp runs from July 7-11 in Wayzata.  It is for both Boys and Girls ages 8-17 years old.  Unlike most camps run by people from professional sports Flip will be there the entire time running the camp so it is a rather unique experience.  The website for the camp is Flipsaundersbasketballcamps.com

contact info is on the website

Nothing much new to report, other than over the weekend I noticed the MIAC was doing the low-low D3 budget version of free agent wooing. ::) ;D  I noticed soon to be, former UWRF player Nate Robertson in the company of, I believe Nick Carroll and several other Pipers at the Cretin-Tartan HS sectional semis last Friday.

Also, Cameron Rundles has officially withdrawn from the University of Montana, next school still unknown.

I haven't done one of these in awhile what's everyone think?  Robertson was sporting the shaggy Nowitzki goatee look sans the mustache.

mtnman - I know a few coaches from various SMU sports, so I'll try to answer your question.

The Cards have pretty strong softball and baseball programs, so winning *is* possible down there. But there are challenges that most MIAC schools don't seem to face. Many of the recruits come from the Chicago area due to the rather unique religious affiliation (literally busloads of Chicago-area kids frequent the school throughout the year), but many Minnesota kids don't find Winona all that appealing.

Bars close at 1 and movie rental places are shut down at 10, though it is a two-college town with two newspapers for coverage. A winning tradition has never really been established down there, making it a tough sell to recruits from the cities who enjoy the hustle and bustle of big city life — and wins.

As an aside, I stumbled across this pretty cool web site some students from College Station have created for sports gambling people who hate losing money. You don't spend a dime and can cash out any time after you reach $10. Give it a look, if you feel up to the challenge :)

I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

From the Grand Forks Herald:
"Rich Glas resigned as the UND men's basketball coach two years ago to join Ben Jacobson's staff at Northern Iowa.

The winningest coach in UND men's basketball history, however, may be returning to the area to coach once again.

Glas is a leading candidate to take over the men's basketball program at Concordia College in Moorhead, a Division III program that belongs to the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. "

Rumor has it this will be confirmed today.

I don't know anything at all about Rich Glas, but it certainly seems like an interesting coaching career trifecta – head coach at a D2 college, assistant coach at a D1 school, & now a possible head coaching position at a D3 college?  Hmm- he must interview well. ??? ;)

4 MIAC and 3 WIAC guys make the all-region team. Wonder how infrequently the MIAC has taken more spots than the WIAC.

Concordia good luck with Rich Glas who got out 2 years ago at UND because he was burned out of being the head coach and was demoted at Northern Iowa to the Director of Basketball ops after 1 season
