tim madson was on that 2nd team, as well.

Good eyes, I missed it.

This year, I think the top of the WIAC, IIAC & MIAC were fairly close to each other.  From the woulda, coulda, shoulda department, UST missed a golden opportunity against Buena Vista on their home court.  Apparently Buena Vista was every much the equal of a Final Four team in Washington University. At one point BV had an 11 point 2nd half lead against Washington only to lose in OT.

Concordia good luck with Rich Glas who got out 2 years ago at UND because he was burned out of being the head coach and was demoted at Northern Iowa to the Director of Basketball ops after 1 season

So CON, what news are you hearing out of the north? As I posted earlier, I don't know anything about Rich Glas but those seem like curious career moves on his part.

Edit the plot thickens:  Rich Glas Bio  After a 30 second review, I read his bio as a longtime northern Minnesotan wants to come home to the F-M area to "retire" at a D3 job.  Right, wrong?

concordia of the north

this is the first i've heard of Glas in the proceedings.

he looks like robert redford, though.

one thing I'd be worried about if I was Concordia:

This guy is 60 years old. He has already gone around the coaching merry-go-round quite a bit. Does he really want to stay and provide the long-term presence that Concordia needs in a hire right now? I feel like Concordia should be hiring a guy who will be a staple at that institution and in that program through a substantial period of identity development.
if you didn't foul out, you weren't trying hard enough...nancies

Exactly!  Cord's M.O. has been try to find a younger coach with ties to the community or school, cross their fingers & hope he's a good coach & semi-lifer.  All the decent coaches @ Cord have been there for 10 + years. Who wants to hop on the coaching merry-go-round every 3-4 years?

Hoops Junkie

They were going to hire Chris Johnson from UND who was an assistant for Glas his last year before Glas snuck in and got the job.

Not a good hire, they needed a younger guy that was going to be in it for the long haul

concordia of the north

how do you know that hire has been made? i don't see it on their website.

The continued presence of a certain renowned football coach in your conference should remind you that, even at 60, he MAY be in for the long haul! ;)

VOJ

No love for Brady on the all-region teams...nice...arguably the best all around player in MIAC and no regional hardware to show for it...OUCH

Pat Coleman

He was nominated, got a good number of votes, but not enough to make the list.

True, but Coach Gagliardi also started coaching at St. Johns in his twenties, not when he was 60. ::) ;)

CON- here's what the Grand Forks paper had to say http://www.grandforksherald.com/articles/index.cfm?id=71045&section=sports&freebie_check&CFID=17314180&CFTOKEN=73627241&jsessionid=8830b75f8e2b6c50662a

According to the article, the Cobbs are holding a press conference sometime this afternoon.

Glas couldn't be reached for comment.

Concordia officials wouldn't comment on its coaching search. Late Tuesday, however, the school said a news conference is scheduled for this afternoon to name Duane Siverson's successor.

No Vertical

While we wait for Concordia to officially announce a new coach I have a question.
I watched a high school section final last night and the "MIAC flop" on defense seems to be catching on.  I am under the impression that an intentional flop can be hit with a technical.  Is that correct and if so has anyone ever seen it called at any level of play?  I think it wuold help minimize the flops if a few "T's" were called.

Not sure of the rule in bball (and I've never seen it called if it is a potential T), but in soccer it can get you carded, and I have seen that called.  Not sure to what degree it cuts down on flopping, but it no doubt is an incentive to improve one's acting skills! ;)

If you can fake the funk, I think you can fake the flop.  ;D  Vert - I'm not a ref, but I did put in a call to a reffing acquaintance of mine. But to answer your question, I think you can get called for a flagrant flop i.e. blocking call. Which game did you see?  I only noticed one flagrant flop in the game I watched last night Cretin - Sibley, but the kid I saw gave as good as he got.  ;)
