I'm very anxious to see how the Cobbs do this season. New coach, some new players...hopefully it all works out.

Bethel also has their full roster and season preview posted. Let's get the season started!

Man, it's rough when work gets in the way of posting.  Course if I didn't have a job I couldn't afford a computer to post. ::) ;)

I didn't have much time to analyze the rosters, but here's a quick take:  Augsburg roster.  A surprise returner is Zach Krumwiede who apparently must have dropped out of school for a year as he's now listed on the roster as a sophomore.  Brady "Linebacker" Soule returns at 6-3 225 llbs worth.  Surprise, no Bobby Harris.  Anybody know why?

No huge freshman surprises on the Tommie roster but if everybody sticks around things could get real interesting.  I'm talking about the dual sports student-athletes, freshmen Greg Morse & Fritz Waldvogel, along with junior transfer Brady Ervin.  When I see jersey numbers by their names then my eyes might start getting larger at the potential & depth this already deep Tommy squad might have added.  If he decides to play - Brady Ervin could potentially be a BIG difference maker.
"If anything here offends, I beg your pardon. I come in peace, I depart in gratitude." ;)

SUMMIT!!!!!

Krumweide is a soph, eligibility-wise. I do think I heard he took the year off, academically, too, but am not 100% sure on that. His returns along with Soule adds nicely to the Auggies, who I think should be in the thick of a five-team fight for the last 3 playoff spots.  Interesting about Harris....hmmm.

AS--- what is this world coming to when a man cant check & post on d3 from work?

SUM--- the SJU/SCSU game is the 22nd, not this weekend...does that change your plans?

I heard Townswick, along with several others, grew, and are growing tired of the preferential treatment given to a couple players by Coach Mckenzie.   Some players he doesn't even talk to.   After watching a scrimmage, and a game, I fully understand why he left the team.  Others, I'm convinced will do the same.

Fox, after a bit of sleuthing (is that even a word) I have come up with the same results as you. It sounds like Mr. Townswick was tired of the B.S. from the coaches. My sources also say, he won't be the last one to pull the plug.

P.S. Welcome to the Board. I will give you your first shot of +koolaid. ;)

I think we have all witnessed stories of a player who was "it" in high school running into better players at the next level...sometimes its tough to deal with.  Kyle was looking like a very good ball handler, but never really took advantage of open shot opportunities, I think he could have been an asset to the program, but it did not work out.

As for the shots at Pmac...not every coach will hold your hand or comfort you when things are not going your way, I find it hard to believe that he is not talking to some players.

On a personal note, welcome to the board fox, it will be nice to have another opinion of J's bball on here.

Story from the Daily Planet on the J's lid lifter at UW Stevens Point.

MM, I will be in NoDak pheasant hunting on the 22cnd.

Don't think anyone has posted this - Hamline roster up:
http://www.hamline.edu/hamline_info/athletics/mens_basketball/0809/2008-09_roster.html

Obviously, Bobby Morrow is the biggest addition. Other new names are junior Dan Andersen, freshman Levi Wenrich from Cali, Max Van Ordstrand from Burnsville and Brandon Rieg from Cali as well.

Info on Reig: In high school Reig was named 1st team All-League and lead Southern California in three pointers made.  He was the Riverside MVP for the All-Star Game and his team's offensive MVP.  He averaged 16 points, 4 assists, 5 rebounds, and 3 steals per game.

Players gone from a year ago: Adam Egan, Rhobelle Tekle, Chris Rupar, Brad Brake, Kenton Johnson and Kwame Herzog.

Only five players remain from the Wohler era.

VOJ,

I heard the same thing the Fox mentioned, not much communicating going on at SJU, which hurts me to say.  I do agree however, that Stanfield and Burns are better at that position and Townswick may have seen the writing on the wall.

thefox

I agree SJU, it's still hard to see a kid leave the team.  I hope things work out well for him, I'm sure they will.  Should be an interesting year, it doesn't appear that a couple of the younger Johnnies want to play much defense from what I saw.

Bethel is underway with pretty balanced scoring and lots of players in the mix. Martin Luther was very aggressive in the first half and then seemed to slow a bit in the second. It's fun the see my first game of the season.

Martin Luther has to have the most crazy halftime show. Tonight's included a fake soccer game which was interupted by a streaker in a rubber suit with fake genitals. It was a scream. Later they had a guy playing  genie who could do the belly dance stomach to perfection.

Some interesting stats on the SJU box score.

1.  Drake - the Schwartz was with the Johnnies last night.  23 pts.
2. The Johnnies shot 20-20 from the stripe.
3. In the first half points in the paint were even 24/26, in the second half it was 6/24. (Js/Pointers)

Madson (14) and Laugen (10) led the Royals balanced attack.

I was looking at the Pipers website one more time...why are they playing North Dakota the second to last game of the season. Unless a playoff seed is locked up then, I'm not sure the timing of that game is good.
