maybe they'll both sneak in the playoffs and Hanson will get his rematch this season rather than next.  If Bethany can get hot early in non-conference season, their schedule is probably worthy of a playoff spot in pool C, as I don't believe the UMAC gets an automatic bid for another couple years.

You mean Pool B. Pool A is reserved for the automatic bids that're doled out to automatic-qualifying conferences (e.g., the MIAC). Pool B is reserved for teams that are either independents or members of non-automatic-qualifying conferences (e.g., the UMAC). Pool C is the at-larges, and those bids can go to anyone in theory. But in practice they've always been given to also-rans from the automatic-qualifying conferences, so the odds of Bethany Lutheran actually getting a Pool C bid are vanishingly small.

If Bethany Lutheran wins the UMAC and acquits itself at least semi-respectably in regional non-conference play (and beating GAC was certainly a nice start in that regard), then a Pool B berth for the Vikings would be a strong possibility.

B or C, they'd be in.  everybody on this board needs to get some sense.  I don't care who you are in D-3, you don't just walk into mankato and put up a W.  heck, they gave winona a game a couple years ago.  losing to bethany hurts your recruiting in southern minnesota, not your strength of schedule.

I believe the Oles walked bussed into Mankato and put up an easy W.

Just so we're clear, I was referring to the Gusties sneaking into the MIAC playoffs.

The rest of AO's arguments aren't worth turning this into the UMAC board...
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

When perennial MIAC contender Gustavus loses to an average UMAC squad every other year, anyone with half a brain stops saying ignorant things about how they should just walk in to the gym and win with superior talent.  They don't have superior talent, they lost.

john derock is already southwest's best player, and they are not a bad outfit.   no surprise from here.  makes you realize how well a number of other miac athletes would do if they defected to div 2, as there are a number of players equal to or better than derock still in this league.   8)

I don't know about best player, but I've been very impressed with Jon DeRock so far this season. I thought it would take him a little while to get acclimated to this level of ball.

umm...

so...if Duke or UNC gets knocked off by UNC Ashville does this hurt the ability of Duke or UNC to recruit over UNC Ashville

teams with tradition and the name wont have any problems getting guys they want and if they lose one they will find another one equally as good...(disclaimer....not included in this theory are NCAA violations or freak incidents like Matt Doherty taking over UNC (even though Roy Williams won his national championship with most of Doherty's recruits (which also proves my point, crappy coach still got the players cuz of the school(i wonder if i can fit another bracket in this paragraph))))

GAC has the tradition and name in the MIAC and this loss wont hurt them one bit

first of all i said was IF they were to beat UNC or Duke so i guess your ability to comprehend a sentance sucks

secondly on November 20, 2001 Davidson went into Chapel Hill and beat UNC 58-54...i guess Curry saw that game when he was little and said WOW I'M GOING TO DAVIDSON OVER UNC BECAUSE THEY BEAT THEM ONCE EARLY IN THE SEASON!!!

i guess im stupid for saying that too since Curry wasnt even recruited by anyone but Davidson

before Curry got there can you name a big time recruit Davidson got from that win?

i guess if SMU beats CAR or GAC one time they will suddenly have the upper hand in recruiting over the 2 schools in southern mn for the next few years

i guess if miami or florida state beats florida this year they will suddenly be the top team on every high school kids college wish list

your right...IM STUPID!! DEERRRRRRRRRRRRR

If SMU is Southern Methodist University (not St. Mary's University), they probably can't beat CAR or GAC because that's where Matt Doherty is and he can't win at SMU either.    :)
