does anyone know if there are any other kinds of weak sauce we are missing now that we have added weak jus?

let me know if you can think of any!

Well... there's always this t-shirt you could wear to remind yourself why you are spending time in the gym lifting the ironbells.

  ;D ;D

And then of course don't forget when you're out on the town to avoid these sauces...

caught a look at the 09 royals last night on snelling.  they completely outclassed the cougars from morris, 76-52.   the game program noted that the royals lost to morris last year by 10.    ???  having a hard time imagining how that could have happened after watching last night's game.

great addition to the squad is transfer nate robertson (uwrf), younger brother of eric robertson who played at bethel back in 00-02.  nate is aggressive, rebounds like a man, and brings some much needed attitude to the table.   along with madson, moberg and laugen---this will be a very nice club.  they also have four or five other guys who appear to have improved significantly from last year.  another good add is chris vavra (braham) who did not play last year.  nice looking team.

hope to catch the nw vs. hamline game on monday--pipes by 15.

Doubting their talent level already led to one big win, I don't blame you for continuing the negativity--or the comparisons to the past.  Winona is beatable.

Winona will win by 20+
a better Winona team was supposed to do the same thing to St. Thomas last year....

I really do not think that anyone can compare last years St. Thomas team and this years Gustavus team. I know I know I know, you can not compare last years WSU to this years WSU team. They lost everything!! BUT, they will still win by 20+  ;D

HAPPY TURKEY DAY TO EVERYONE!!

That's good stuff, DP! (The pics, that is, not the "weak sauce" itself. ;))

+k Good find CMob.  They will be surprised since it looks like the Carleton College in Ottawa doesn't even have athletic programs - just intramurals!

I'm curious to see how the Knights do on their trip to Hawaii.  They may have the talent to do quite well this year.

The Carleton Knights knock off Division II Western New Mexico Mustangs 80-70 in Hawaii. Not bad, I guess the Mustangs had averaged 87 ppg up to this point. Go Knights! Must be tough playing in Hawaii...
Well hell...

Willy Wonka

Auggie Tech got pounded by Winona State 89-48 the other day.

My Gusties trail 38-31 @WSU at halftime. I didn't make the trip as planned after a busy day of work. Boo!
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

Willy-

I like that the Gusties are competing in Winona tonight, but it's probably not a good sign that our team is shooting 62% from the field and still trailing by 8.

Agreed, though the other peripherals looked pretty good at the break as well. They were outrebounding WSU something like 14-11 and the Warriors needed to hit 7-11 treys to head to half with a lead.

WSU has now stretched the lead to 47-33, however. Turnovers are the biggest problem it looks like — 11-4 against the Gusties.

Some Weekend hi-lo-lites

**Gusties play Winona State tough only to fall 75-59.  On the Gustie website they mention the 15 TOs which Winona converted to 23 points.  All things considered I don't think 15 TOs is real bad, but for me what stands out in stark contrast is that Winona only had 5 TOS.  That's doing a good job of taking care of the ball. GAC-Winona story

**SMU Redbirds were up on their neighbors to the east UW-LAX 31-28 at the half only to falter in the 2nd half & lose 72-61.  Look out Macalester!  From what I've been hearing about this year's version of the Macalester basketball team, their winning streak in Winona might be over.  The Birds might take out their collective frustration on the "Braveheart-less" Scots when Macalester comes to town on Wednesday. . Will Wright & Lukas Holland will be too quick for the Scots. SMU_LAX summary

**Speaking of the Scots, they were drubbed by Buena Vista 97-53 Saturday night. One of the few bright spots was FY Jackson "Pollack" Wright who came off the bench to knock down 4-8 treys & lead Mac in scoring with 18 points.  Growing frustration with SO Colin Keeley (yes, formerly my guy) who had a miserable 4-12 shooting performance, but worse, only one stinking rebound.  (He also played poorly against Northwestern.)  Even one legged Nate Assel, who's playing on a bad wheel, guts & heart, grabbed two boards.  "Come on laddie, dig deeper." MAC-BV summary

**Johnnies finally get on the scoreboard for the season as they beat Occidental 75-61 in the 2nd game of their two game road trip to California.  Chris Schwartz lead the way with 25 points.  Aaron Burtzel is apparently the poor man's successor to Brady Brink this year as he plays all 40 minutes in the game.  Desperation move by the Js' coaches to insure they have their first win under their belt before kick off conference play on the road with games at Bethel & Carleton later this week?   ;) SJU-OXY game story

**Cobbs also split on their road trip to the west coast & they lose to Concordia, Portland Oregon 85-70. Weird stat from this game -  the Cobbs go scoreless in the last 6:47 of the first half to go down at the half, 22-40.  In the first half they shot .286 from the field.

Off topic, but here's my favorite column of the day & or week which was written by Chicago Tribune sports columnist - David Haugh.  His column which appears in today's Pioneer Press is titled:

Frerotte gives Bears better chance of winning

Here are a couple of excerpts that had me chuckling:

... But, yes, he is 37 years old and ready to start his 92nd game for his seventh different team in 15 seasons. Frerotte's most defining moment as a pro is still when he sprained his neck early in his career after head-butting a stadium wall to celebrate a touchdown.

When the most memorable thing about a quarterback's NFL resume is an MRI, that spells opportunity for opponents such as the Bears in big games as big as this one.

Outside Eden Prairie, it's not a reach to suggest the Vikings' chances of winning the NFC North easily could get thrown under the Gus.

And another one:

But thanks to Jackson being a bust, the Vikings have no better alternative heading into December.

To them, Frerotte is like the old snow blower you need to get through one more winter.

And the last one which had me snorting:

..Asking whether the Bears can afford to use, effectively, just three defensive backs isn't the relevant question. The question is: Can they afford not to try?

A healthier Charles Tillman gives the Bears another element they missed in the first meeting, a lockdown cornerback physical enough to take Bernard Berrian out of the game. Lately, Childress has been doing as good a job as any defensive back slowing Berrian down. The wide receiver has four catches for 52 yards in his past three games, with a long of 19.

That's not a deep threat. That's a rumor — an unfounded rumor.

This is great stuff! :D :D

The Mpls Trib, Pioneer Press & Chicago Trib should have a columnist cagematch between Patrick Reusse, Tom Powers & this David Haugh character. The papers could charge admission which could help bolster the flagging revenues at all 3 newspapers.  ;D

For those so inclined here's the column it its entirety ...David Haugh's -  Vikes Frerotte column
