Wow, UWW moved to the north bracket and MUC moved to the east!   The Johnnies are doing cartwheels over on the MIAC board!   ;)  Sure will be a different set of opponents this year for the Hawks!  Not what was expected at all!  Congrats to the BluGolds!

Having fresh blood in town is always a good thing.... show'em what UWW football is all about.

SJU was anticipating the usual suspects including the season ending Warhawks.

You'll appreciate the fresh faces in Whitewater.   ;)

You know, I was I think rightfully concerned about a UWW-St John's rematch - the Johnnies are always a challenge at least.

Of course, with the bracket as it is, now seeing that match-up again would be OK ...
What the hell was that?  That was a Drop-kick.  Drop-kick? How much is that worth?  Three points.  THREE POINTS?!

Way to go Blugolds!!! Gentlemen, you're being rewarded for your efforts this season - make the most of this post-season opportunity!

bgbacker - I think, as the two Blugold posters here, that our steadfast denials, er sandbagging, about making the playoffs paid off.  ;) Looks like yesterday's game against Stout was perhaps, but hopefully not, the penultimate game of the season!

With its 24-21 win today over UW-Stevens Point, fittingly on the eve of Veterans Day, and during the team's last game ever there, UWL improves its all-time record to 217-69-9 at home... A new sports complex is expected to be home to the Eagles in 2009, who will play in Winona in 2008, if I remember correctly...

La Crosse finishes 3-4 in the WIAC, but at 5-4 overall records its 36th winning season in the last 38 years...

No matter what happens regarding the UWEC Blugolds, some of us Blugolds for 8 years will still be rooting for the 'Golds next week, as the La Crosse Aquinas Blugolds will gear it up for a D5 state championship on Thursday...

According to the parings on the WIAA site, the 'Golds must have really liked playing at Memorial Field during its last hurrah, and wanted to get as many games in there this year as possible; they are listed with a 29-7 record.  ;)
They are 11-2 overall...

How is the fund raising going?    At last report they were well behind schedule and concerned that they wouldn't be able to raise as much as they needed to by the Feb. 2008 deadline.  I hope LaCrosse can get it done.

Congrats to Moriarty and Beaver on their career accomplishments.  #1 and #2 all time in the WIAC.  Moriarty was absolutely unbelievable the last 3 games of his career racking up an astounding 816 yards.  Truly two of the best players to ever play in this league.

What can Eau Claire or WIAC fans tell us MWC fans about what to expect from this team?

Formations, philosphy...cant wait til Saturday, anything to help pass the time.

Eau Claire is a team that wins with defense and special teams.  They had a lot of injuries at the QB position early in the year, but managed to patch things together and get enough offense.  Sartorelli is their running back, good solid runner.  Their passing stats are at the bottom of the conference, but the injuries had set them so far back in the first part of the season they had no chance to escape the statistical cellar.

They are plus 10 in turnover margin (5 INT returns for touchdowns), and they've blocked a bunch of kicks.
What the hell was that?  That was a Drop-kick.  Drop-kick? How much is that worth?  Three points.  THREE POINTS?!

badgerwarhawk - Re: UWL's Memorial Field

Yesterday's La Crosse Tribune had a story about the fundraising. So far $11 million of $15.6 million has been raised. That extra $4.6 million must be raised by Feb. 1, so bids can be taken and construction can be started in late spring 2008. (The whole project is $17.1; the $15.6 represents the basic design...)

Potential major donors are being targeted, and La Crosse and Onalaska have proposed raising hotel room taxes... That would generate $500,000 from La Crosse over five years, and $185,000 from Onalaska, the paper reports...

Yes, then you could kick our rear ends in the finals.   :-\

To all interested, the Playoff Pickem's have been posted on the WIAC Pickem thread. The NCAA selection committee forced us to expand the scope, hope you don' mind.  It should make it more interesting, though.  Check it out.

Wow.  Congrats to Eau Claire.  I did not think they would win against Stout and then to make the playoffs.  They could easily last longer than the Warhawks.  Unfortunately, I think UWW will have its hands full of Capital and may end up losing in the first round.  I think Eau Claire has a great shot at least of making it into December.

Yea, it might be a close game for a first-round match up with Capital. But after reviewing the OAC posts. Capital is a little banged up with their WR and QB hurt. UWW should win that game.

D3.com podcast is saying that Capital needs to keep UWW below 21 points to have a shot. Keith also said that coach Berezowitz told him that the current D might be better than the last two years. If coach Z doesn't go into a clam shell play calling like last weeks second half I'd take UWW minus the 10 at home.

If anyone has a second, go over the NWC post room. fans there are livid that UWEC got in over Whitworth. They are e-mailing members of the NCAA selection commitee asking them to rationalize their decision.

I'm just happy they rewarded the toughest conference in DIII.

Go 'Hawks!!!

Why bother,  they'll lose in the first round like they always do regardless of the opponent.
