In 2002 in Alliance, the Wabash fans were loud and proud of their team.  The Mount fans were a bit taken back that the cheers were as loud at the end of the game as they were at the beginning.  Hopefully, the Perk will be rocking on Saturday.  By the way, the Warhawk fans will enjoy the guys in the red and white stripped overalls, i.e. the Sphinx Club.  Being an all male school, they are the Wabash cheerleaders.  One of the highlights of Homecoming at Wabash is the annual  Homecoming "queen" contest.  I leave that image to your imaginations, but it is always hilarous.

The Little Giants will have more fan support and more spirit than any visiting team you have seen in a long time, that's for sure.

You do know that SJU has played at UWW the past two years?  I would be impressed if the LG's fans could outnumber/out-spirit the Johnnie fan base.

I was at the Perk for the SJU/UWW game last year in the playoffs. I will stand by my comments  ;)

St Johns brought a large crowd that rivaled the ones we see for WARHAWK/LaCrosse conference games.  North Central's was excellent though not quite as large as these two.  Wabash's yet to be determined.  You guys make it sound encouraging.

He tried giving 500 free tickets to students last week and I suspect ate a bunch of them himself.  This week DLK's down for 1000.  Though I think he'll find more interest with the students back on campus.

I hope you're right badgerwarhawk. the NCAC site is posting that Wabash fans "may dominate the stadium" if Whitewater had another turnout like last week. I doubt they will dominate the perk, that's the last thing I want to see is Wabash out drawing Whitewater.

Plus i heard rumors that their kicker and punter might be sitting the first quarter because they skipped out on a team meal. Not sure if will matter much though.

02 Warhawk,

While no one knows yet about the turnout of the Wabash faithful this Saturday, I do believe that we "travel well" for a D-III school and have a strong alumni base in the Chicago area, so the potential is there for a good Wabash presence (though I don't believe we will even come close to outdrawing UW-W).

As for the reference on the NCAC board to the Wabash kicker and punter being suspended for the first quarter, that was a reference to the 2002 game against Mt. Union.  I do not believe that anyone is in the doghouse right now and hope that good judgment will keep it that way.

I'm not sure Wabash could outdraw the Whitewater crowd, particularly when classes are in session...there's simply too darn many of you up there.  Wabash will be traveling very well for this game, but I'd be shocked (shocked!) if there was more red than purple in the stands at Saturday's game.

This was actually in reference to Wabash's 2002 game at Mount Union.  The LG punter and kicker apparently missed a meeting or a meal or something like that and had to sit for the first quarter.  They ended up using their All-American tight end as a punter.  Let's just say that as a punter, Ryan Short was a great tight end.   :)

Anyway, to my knowledge, everything is on the up and up this time around and Wabash's kickers should be ready to go Saturday.

I just hope our kicker is ready to go.  Croak has been doing an acceptable job kicking off and his accidental squib was big against North Central but we need our All American back on the field.   Fortunately we've finished off drives better than we'd been doing it a few weeks ago and no games have gone down to a deciding kick where Schebler's range would become a factor.

Yea, i think whitewater's coaching staff had that in mind. Keep him rested early in the playoffs, and hopefully he'll be able to go come the later rounds when the games are tighter.

Going back to the talk of the best players in WIAC history....
I have watched WIAC football for over 15 years, and I these are the few players who I think could TOTALLY take over a game and are probably the best WIACers of the past 10-15 years if not the history of the league:
QB  Krause
RB  Beaver
WR  Burnoski, Stanley
DT  Kleppe--an absolute beast!! (should have won the Gagliardi last yr)
LB  Raebel, Kriewaldt
DB  Beckham, Teeples

There have been many other great players in this league, but these guys could flat out take over a game by themselves.

I think you gotta have Leszczynski in there at the wideouts.   ;D  Looks good to me, but now you got me upset so i'll take the list that didn't make it, play a game and I bet  you my team wins!

I hear that Square guy was a pretty good fullback  ;D

Jimmy, Goo you guys gonna be at the perk this weekend, Flash is the boy coming down

But seriously how can TBell not be on this list and even though he only played one year what about Owen Schmidt, he was decent if I remember right ;)

Congratulations to Luke Steffen (former Stout Linebacker) for signing a professional football contract yesterday with the Green Bay Blizzard, an AFL2 team.  Though Luke made headlines last year around Stout for the trouble that occured there, he truly was a genuinely great young man who was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time.  My son and daughter whom were both classmates of Luke at Stout always said that he was a genuinely great young man who is definitely deserving of this opportunity!!

Possibly going to be there but not for sure.

Plus Trey is the best corner I have ever played against and I'm glad he was on my team.

Hey footballfan413, did you get a chance to view any of that Wabash/CWR game you found on Case TV?  If so, any thoughts (and be honest)?  I've watched the first quarter and a little of the second. Can't say that I've seen anything yet that makes me want to say WOW!, but it's still early.  What about you?

BoBo,  Just found time to look at the link as I was not able to watch anything when I posted it and, low and behold, the site seems to be devoid of the Case vs. Wabash game.  Did a search of the site and the latest game is the Widener one the week before.  I looks like somebody must have gotten to Case and had it removed.  ;D  Doesn't the tape exchange include the latest 2 or 3 games?  Seems unecessary if the Hawks have it on film anyway.

The tape exchange includes no playoff games...only regular season games according to the NCAA handbook
