Bo Bo - It's hard to believe that you are the target of the negative karmalizers. As I said before, you don't get into the idiotic stuff, but always have the sharp jab. Hope the weather is more conducive to a cleaner game next week. If so I hope to be there (I guess I didn't get enough of UWW and UMHB already this year. I'll look for Goo. He'll be easy to spot with his knuckles dragging

Just back to Chicago from the Perk.....Thank God for a room at Super 8. Can't believe how we dominated every phase of the game. Cudos to the Oline especially. How about our QB from the West Coast....he can throw the ball in any weather. In the last 6 years that I have been going to games that was the worst weather. How about the cannon guy who moved his cannon on a hill outside the stadium because Wabash complained.....way to go cannon guy! Wabash is now in a category with Wesley both losers who couldn't play with the cannon......maybe if you didn't allow as many touchdowns it wouldn't bother you as much. Cudos also to the band who stayed the whole game and the tuba guys who put on a short concert in the mens washroom. Wabash's all-american is a solid player but he wouldn't start ahead of #33,#40,or #50......their #1 wide recever was also a very good player. Next week MHB which should be tougher this time.....need a solid effort again at QB and more turnovers......Pound the Rock......

The good thing that the Cru does have going is they are a very good running team.  Now I think the UWW defense welcomes that but with the weather conditions in Wis. I would think being a run first team is a bonus for the Texas boys.

I do think it is going to be very tough to take the 'Hawks at the Perk but this program has beaten a monster on the road before.

Hope it's a classic game on Saturday and we have it to watch on the web.

I don't know if someone complained or not, but the NCAA does ban artificial noisemakers for the playoff games at least.  In any case, I'm glad the cannon guy was there, if that's your tradition.  I assure you that didn't bother us as much as the weather.

I came on to post my two cents about the UWW-Wa(-got-)bashed game, but it looks like everything i wanted to say was already said. Our offensive line made Wabash look like a high school JV team. Beaver and Pittz weren't betting touched until 5 yards past the line of scrimmage. there were times when Beaver just dragged players for 5-10 yards before finally going down. Jones had all day to through the ball, and was very accurate despite the conditions.

I talked to someone on Whitewater's offense prior to the game, and we asked him how he prepared for Wabash's Adi Pynenburg. He just shrugged his shoulders and said "eh, nothing really that special from what we saw on film." At first i thought he was being cocky, but after watching the game, i almost have to agree with him. No disrespect to Wabash or Adi, but players like Pynenburg are a dime a dozen in the WIAC. Shows how good the WIAC football program really is.

big ups to Whitewater's defense as well. UWW tied with Brock Graham as the leading receiver for Wabash with 5  ;).  Plus I couldn't believe Wabashed whined about Mike shooting off the cannon "inside the statium," you got to be kidding me!! however, I loved that he still fired away south-east of the statium.

Something about crappy weather like this that UWW loves to play in. Talk about bringin your "A" game deep in the playoffs.  Hopefully it's just as bad next week when MHB comes up from Texas.

Good call the weather wont bother the Texas boys, they are such a good running team.  I cant believe how much they ran all over us the first game.  It was like track meet out there.

Retangent maybe I will see you, are you going to be playing the Oboe or the French Horn for the band this week?

That wasn't a noisemaker, it was there for avalanche control ....

I can't figure this cannon guy thing out.  Two years ago we shot the cannon off from inside the stadium at all four home playoff games without any comment.  Last year we shot it off at the first three, again within the stadium, and  then we couldn't for the final game.  This year we've shot it off from within the stadium for the first two games and couldn't for the third.  It will be interesting what happens for the MHB game.  If we're unable to locate him within the stadium he will be on the hill.

There has been an NCAA observer at every playoff game for three years.  If the problem was with the NCAA how do you explain this?

In an ironic twist after each firing of the cannon the smoke drifted over the Wabash bleachers.  Well, with the wind I'm not sure "drifted" is the right word.

Can someone "in the know" confirm this?  I know the cannon guy wasn't in his normal spot, but did someone from Wabash really comlain?  They seem like a group that is so into tradition that they would welcome another team's traditions as well.

I talked to Mike, the guy who mans the cannon, prior to the game, and he said, "Wabash isn't going to let me setup the cannon in the stadium." that's just what he told me about an hour before the game when he was walking around the parking lot.

That's crazy.  For the life of me I will never figure out what the big deal is to other teams about the cannon.

As a Wabash alumnus I have to say that if we did complain I think it's weak. A damn cannon isn't the reason why we got beat down yesterday. According to the friend I've talked to that were there it wasn't crazy loud either. And I never heard it on the radio broadcast. Seriously, I have no personal knowledge of why it was moved outside. But if it was Wabash's complaints that did it, I think that's totally stupid.

I'd like to know if somebody actually knows whether or not somebody from Wabash put the kibosh on this...a couple of things don't make sense about it to me.

1) Wabash has never played at Whitewater and in all likelihood wouldn't have had any idea that you all had a cannon at your games.

2) If you all want to fire off cannons after touchdowns, I don't see what the big deal is and everybody I've talked to doesn't see what the big deal is either.  Cannons during dead ball periods after scores are fine by me.

This sounds like an NCAA mandated thing more than a Wabash thing.

dawarhawksrock

Here is the thing the only NCAA mandated rule is no atrifical noise makers while the ball is in play. Mike"The cannon guy" never lights off the cannon while the ball is in play. He waits for the officials to signal Touchdown and he lights it off as after he signals touchdown it's a dead ball. This rule came from Mike himself at the capital game, and said if they complain about it again that UWW was going to fight it. Which I think they should.
I am not ure what it is with Wabash, Wesley and even some of the Wiac schools fans mainly Oshkosh where people complain about the cannon. I guess Wesley and Wabash are so intimidated of the WARHAWKS that they have to cry about Mike and his cannon, to try and get an advantage. The thing that these coaches have to learn is that they aren't playing the cannon they are playing the WARHAWKS
and not having the cannon guy inside the stadium will just piss off the WARHAWKS and sakman, and make the score worse then what it needs to be and have your teams go home quicker from the playoffs then you wanted to as well
GO WARHAWKS AND MIKE THE CANNON GUY

thanks for your comments retagent, there is a lot of negativity going around, though.

Remember, if you are able to get to the UWW/UMHB game (just looking out for your personal enjoyment at the Perk),

1.  enter the stadium
2.  buy game program
3.  check program date/if from the Oshkosh game, point in out to the program seller at that time for replacement
4.  find your seat, study program, and enjoy the game.
