Congrats to Jimmy 7. Goo and I will have to get to a game. Always enjoyed watching you give a great effort on the field......

When did the turf get put in?  I thought I saw a game there on grass.  Wait, the game was on grass, not me.

As a fan of UMHB and someone who will be in attendance this weekend I hope you guys get to fire your cannon. I was also there in October and thought the cannon was pretty cool, it is after all your field and that is what home field advantage gives you.

All that being said, I hope you have the ability to fire it you just don't get the chance. Above all I just hope its a good game where neither team can say it was the weather, turnovers, or the referees that lost the game but that the other team won the game.

I hope the cannon performs also!! maybe even the streakers from last years playoff game!! talk about some artificial noise makers!!

The Turf went in a few years ago, but several ASC teams still play natural.

I think the last game I was at was in 2001 or 2002.  Still grass then?

I'm not sure when the change came, but it is currently "new-style turf."

I think it was grass when I moved back to texas from Utah in 02.  I want to say this year 3 or 4 for the turf.

Congrats to Jim Leszczynski, a former standout Hawk WR for signing with the Milwaukee Bonecrushers.  The Bonecrushers are a new professional arena football team that will be playing it's first season in 2008 in the CIFL.  The Bonecrushers are going to be coached by Gilbert Brown, a former Green Bay Packer defensive lineman.  Jim was not only an amazing player and teammate, he was also a great student!!  I'd say "argueably" the best WR in Warhawk history.. Goo, 96Warhawk, Voice,  where would you guys rank Jim compared to Stanley and Mrkvicka??  All three are GREAT players.

On the bad side, he won't have NEAR as good of coach as he had last year!

The field turf got put in at Belton Stadium after the season of '04.  My senior year was the last year we got to play on grass.  Personally, I wouldnt have had it any other way.  The field turf nowadays is nice, but there nothing that can substitute for good ol' fashioned grass.

Good luck to both teams this week.  Can't wait till Saturday!
YOU KNOW IT!!!!

Here is my take on the whole BS about the cannon guy
1. He sets it off while the ball is dead
2. If the hawks were allowed to have him in his normal spot the first two playoff games and none of the NCAA people said anything then the Hawks should be allowed to have him there through out the playoffs.
The cannon guy is nothing compared to the students banging garbage cans at MHB. As if they do it while the ball is in play it should be a 15 yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalty, which is why the band trys not to play while the game is actually being played, and the music from the PB is turned off when the ready for play whistle is blown.

Really gotta let this canon thing go. How about everybody holler boom after each score.

Pat-
I can't speak for everyone on the issue, but I think the real issue on the noisemakers is the rule itself.  The rules should be enforced, but rules are not and should not be set in stone.  This rule is one that the NCAA should look into and possibly change or adjust.  Home field advantage is part of the game.

Not in the NCAA playoffs. This is the NCAA's event. You still get to play in your stadium and all, but you have to follow the NCAA's rules. And if you don't like them, I guess there's the NAIA.

I totaly agree.  Why is it that DI can have all of their noise, pomp, and pageantry and DII can't?  It doesn't make sense.  If anyone has a clear cut reason, please let me know.  Home field advantage should be home field advantage, period.

If they had a championship in FBS football, then it too would be subject to NCAA rules. Ever seen artificial noisemakers at a D-I NCAA Tournament game in basketball? Ever heard a biased homer public address announcer?

That's right. We got to break the rules once or twice so we should get to break them all the time. That makes sense.

It's not Whitewater's fault that the ncaa didn't plan to nip the whole cannon guy thing in the butt right away.
Fialure to plan on there part should not consitute an emergency or in this case taking away the cannon guy on Whitewaters part.
Also coach Berezowitz was on the NCAA comittee and was always a stickler for the rules, so if there is a rule against the cannon guy. I am sure good old coach Brez would have known it. Whether he says anything about well thats another story but I think he would have.
