Would it be safe to assume that ESPN will be carrying the Stagg Bowl once again this year?  Having recently moved from my longtime(45 years)hometown of Whitewater, to the northwoods, I sure would like to be able to see them play again.

ESPN, 4:00pm EST, Saturday December 15, 2007.
National Champions - 13: 1993, 1996, 1997, 1998, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2005, 2006, 2008, 2012, 2015, 2017

If you can't ignore an insult, top it; if you can't top it, laugh it off; and if you can't laugh it off, it's probably deserved.

Wow!  Really nice, Trab.  On a side note, yesterday I was doing the Stout/Oshkosh basketball doubleheader and we got the WW football final, called over to the pa guy at our table assuming as a WIAC event, it might have some interest.  Wouldn't even acknowlege the game.  Asked an Oshkosh official about it after the game and he said, "This is a basketball crowd.  Who cares about football?"   Not too classy, Oshy!

Mr_Downtown

You're asking an Oshkosh PA announcer to call out a Whitewater Score.

That's where your problem is. It would be like asking the Stout PA announcer to call out an Eau Claire win in any sport.

That's exactly what I was asking.  And I will say it again.  Not too classy, Oshkosh.

Just Bill

I wouldn't expect anyone to announce a Whitewater football score during a Stout/Oshkosh basketball game.  That doesn't make any sense to me.

If it was an Oshkosh/Whitewater game, then sure, that would be the right thing to do for the visiting fans, but other than that I don't see the relevence.

And in all fairness, Oshkosh basketball fans haven't even proved they care about Oshkosh basketball much less the football team at another school.

I'm just saying that there are lots of sports fans at any school in the WIAC conference who would be interested in the fact that a conference school just got in the national championship game.

Mr_Downtown

Considering the Rivalry between Whitewater and Oshkosh, its not a classy rivalry to begin with (See Baseball and Men's Soccer).

I would rather have updates around the conference of basketball scores. Which are rare at Kolf.

A good point about Oshkosh fans having a hard time keeping up with the basketball team. However, they are coming around (a 7-0 start helps).

Anyways,Stoutguy, Athletic Director Al Ackerman was in Coach Andrist's ear after the game (no clue why) and the Stout Women's basketball team pretty much treated the Kolf Sports Center as their personal dump, feeling free to throw their trash down the bleachers (and on top of radio and television equipment, with even a pile of napkins landing on a kid who was looking for his glove). Perhaps the athletes should show as much class as you have at Stout.

It's the WIAC. The toughest conference in the land, with the toughest fans. Seriously, very little love for other teams. It's not like you see Big Ten fans root for other Big Ten teams...do ya?

Mr. Downtown,

Since you are the 2007 National Collegiate Sports Broadcaster of the Year (TV),
2007/08 Midwest Collegiate Sports Broadcaster of the Year (TV),
2006/07 Midwest Collegiate Sports Broadcaster of the Year (TV),
maybe when you get out of school and into the real world, you'll learn something about objectivity to giving credit when credit is due.  A little pride for your conference wouldn't be a bad start!

badgerwarhawk

I don't really care what Oshkosh did and I certainly wouldn't expect it.   But this isn't just any win for a conference team in any sport, Downtown.  This is a conference team wining a game that puts the conference in the national championship in what many would consider a premiere sport.  So it isn't Stout playing EauClaire in tennis. Being the highly decorated sports broadcaster that you are I would think you'd recognize that.

"Anyways,Stoutguy"??  You know, I really would like to get a conversation going with you, Downtown, but I choose not to because after all, as Voice points out, it reads clearly on your posts that you are a broadcaster of the year so I am really a bit intimidated to get into it with someone with your credentials.  By the way, the Stout team spent 5 minutes of their halftime out in the hallway because their door was locked and nobody bothered to get it open for them.  That was what the conversation with Eddie was about in case you care.

I had to log in just to give Voice, Stoutguy and BW +karma for those posts.  I will refrain from smiting Mr. Downtown but it sure is tempting.

A huge congrats to the Stagg Bound Warhawks and their coaching staff.  Your refuse-to-lose attitude,  hard-as-nails defense and Danny Jones legs paved the way. We bring different things to the table this year and I believe that the 3rd time will be the charm.  Man, that is a lot of cliches!   ;D

Congrats as well to the Cru and their fans.  You came to play.  This has been a great series between two elite D-3 teams.  Good luck next season.
