Last time UWW comes to Veterans Memorial and you think they will win?
No chance.

This Saturday will mark the return of the Maroon and Gray to dominance.

Enjoy your new scoreboard while you can before Lance runs your program into the ground.

I don't think anyone is immune from the occasional idiotic post, OI. :)

The Packers offered 3 of the 19 unsigned players from the rookie mini camp contract offers. None of those included Beaver. However, if the coaches vote to expand the roster limit for Training Camp to 86 instead of 80, he might have a chance I guess. Read that in the Milwaukee journal sentinal this morning.

If it were the coaches voting it would be done deal.  With the loss of NFLE and the NFLE excemptions they were able to add as training camp bodies the coaches have, as a group, recommended the increase.  Of course they want more bodies in camp.  However the voting will actually be done by the owners at their spring meeting May 19th.  The owners write checks so they may or may not be interested in adding payroll and the associated expenses involved with six extra players.

The Packers are also still one player short of the 80 limit.  Evidently they wanted to evaluate their positional needs before selecting anyone.  Though probably unlikely Beaver could still fill that spot.

BEAVER-BELIEVER

Well as a true believer in Mr. Beaver I still have to keep the faith that the Packers pick Justin as the 80th man on the roster for the summer.

Just have to get BB's opinion on Outdoor/Indoor Lacrosse. Since it is Canada's National Sport, and they play both indoor (Box) Lacrosse, which has made it's way to the USA in the form of the MLL. and the outdoor game is played in high school, college and the NLL. Which is "fake?"

I was umpiring a youth baseball game last night - Wildcats vs. Eagles.  On the back of the Eagles jerseys, was a familiar looking patch - a certain head-shot of a raptor:

After resisting the urge to express my outrage at such a transgression, I began to wonder about the genesis of Willie having his head so prevelant in the UWW athletic realm.  Way back in the dark ages (when I was there) it was a politically incorrect Indian-based logo.

IIRC, it was sometime in the 80's when they became the War (emphasis on the --) HAWKS.  And I beleive there was a full size bird logo for some time until the switch was made to the Head only.

Anyone have a better handle on the progression through the years?
What the hell was that?  That was a Drop-kick.  Drop-kick? How much is that worth?  Three points.  THREE POINTS?!

You've got it down pretty well.  It started as an Indian, went to a full sized raptor and now it's a raptor's head.   The full sized raptor was a profile of the bird with it's wings raised straight above it's head.  Recently, while browsing in an antique mall, I found and purchased a match book (still half full of matches) which has the full sized bird on it.

I'm not positive but I believe the university has a trademark on that logo so your youth baseball team may be violating it by using the logo without the university's consent.   Not that I think it matters.  UW-Madison has made a big deal of that in protecting their trademark on the "motion" W the past couple of years.  They've forced some schools to change it under the threat of litigation.

If you remember the Indian logo you probably remember the mascot with the war lance who would ride his horse across the top of the stadium bowl on the visitor's side after touchdowns.

I have honestly have never watched indoor Lacrosse. Lacrosse is a tough sport. you have to run aound with a little round ball and a bunch of guys trying to take your head off with a stick, and only a helmet and shoulder pads protectiong you.
Also Football has always be unique to me as you can only play it for so long normally from 4th o5 th grade until your senior year in college, and then it's over unless you get drafted and make the NFL like Derek Stanley or Pierre Garcon or anyone else in the league, where it's your living. It's not like Baseball or Basketball that you can just call up your buddies and go play.
Thats where I have my problem with the arena leagues and everything else. It's not there living it's a bunch of guys who just can't realize that their football careers are over.

Your contradictions are staggering.  What about the semi-pro baseball, hockey, etc and farm teams.  Many sports have different levels and opportunities to play just below pro level.   So your arguement is that in football only, it should be the NFL or bust?   ???

And that is the point, their football careers don't have to be over.

BEAVER-BELIEVER's posts are starting to look pretty familiar. CaptainKurt used to be pretty good at spotting a certain poster who came on with different names. What do you think Capt.?

AAAAHHHHH..............interesting thought but I have my doubts as there are not nearly enough spelling and grammer errors.  Of course, maybe he finally figured out how to use spell check! ;D
