Does anyone know if UWW is going to do something at their first home game this upcoming year to honor/recognize their national championship? Like at halftime or something?

that'll be cool if they hoist up a national championship flag at halftime somewhere around the stadium, and then they'll keep it up year round. Kind of like how UWW men's basketball team has a couple NCAA championship banners in their gymnasium.

Just an idea....

And a very good one...... :)

In fact, if the bookstore or program would start selling a National Championship flag, I could replace the tattered Warhawk flag on my garage!  I use to put it up only during football season but since the Championship, I haven't been able to bring myself to take it down.   ;D

Eau Claire playing Whitewater twice is the dumbest thing I have ever heard of...

Seriously, can anyone in the MIAC man up other then St. John's (and how about you play someone other then River Falls someday...) and give the WIAC a hand here?

Eau Claire and Oshkosh only have 9 games, and looking at some of the schedules, let's just say that I had a difficult time if the schools were real!

Pretty soon, I think the WIAC should just have one non-conference game, and go right into the conference season and only have 8 games. At least it'll make the field even when it came to play-off time.

OH, and I think the NCAA should step in sometime about this whole avoiding the WIAC like the plague. How can some of these schools be judged fairly if they have played only 9 games, and a team has to play a conference opponent TWICE (just wanted to make that point again) so they don't have 8 games?

This is where D-III loses some credibility. At least in D-I you have cupcakes, but you'll have some programs that will play anyone/anywhere. The WIAC has done that the past years, but now, those programs have learned that travel doesn't effect our programs, so they stop playing us.

C'mon MIAC, strap on the pads and play some of our schools. Please.

St. Johns has played EC several times too. They don't care to travel as far as WW. Also, the MIAC only has one preseason game, so it doesn't leave much to play with. MWC, doesn't want to play, and I don't blame them, why get your butt kicked every year. I don't have a big problem with playing WIAC teams twice if you can't find anyone else. It's better than just having 9 games.
If you can't ignore an insult, top it; if you can't top it, laugh it off; and if you can't laugh it off, it's probably deserved.

It is my understanding that UWW turned down continuing the series with UMHB.

UMHB was willing to travel, but UWW wasn't.

So, UMHB is stuck with hosting Southern Nazarene (NAIA in Oklahoma) on September 6th, and going to Southern Oregon on October 25th.

You will remember that UW-Stout bailed on a contract with HSU in 2004.  HSU had to play SRSU twice.

Of course WW isn't bailing from a contract so the two situations are different.   I hope the two schools can establish something in the future but it was my understanding that it just couldn't be worked out this year.   Obviously being willing to play isn't the only factor involved.

Ralph, I have read this same thing from various people on PP.  Is it all rumor or does anybody have specific facts to back up the claim?  I haven't read it anywhere.  Maybe I haven't looked in the right places.

Sounds like the blame with UMHB being stuck not having a D3 NC opponent falls on UWW.  UMHB has had three chances the last two years.  I have no problem with UWW wanting to play someone else.  There are many more D3's out there that could step up if they wanted to.  BTW, Whitewater has scheduled St. Xavier (NAIA in Illinois) and Puget Sound in Wash State, not much different than what UMHB faces this NC season (+ that 'kissing your sister' match-up with Eau Claire!)

Flash your info on the MIAC only having one preseason game is incorrect.  Bethelin years past played Central and BV in the same year.  St Thomas played Central and I believe Loras last year as well.

Actually, you have to look all the way back to 2006 to see where SJU had both NC games with the WIAC ...

Not just Bethel and St. Thomas, with 9 league members, all MIAC schools play 2 NC games each year in addition to 8 conference match-ups.

It sure would be nice if Superior made some effort to reinstate their football program.  At one time a football program was required of all schools to maintain conference membership.  However that was "forgiven" in Superior's case.

If St Scholastica can field a football team I don't see any good reason that Superior can't.

As long as we are calling out conferences, how about the CCIW.  With so many located in the Chicago area, Platteville and WW are a skip and a jump away and Oshkosh and Stevens Point would be options as well.  Augustana gets credit for being willing to play Platteville much like SJU is willing to play UW-RF and UW-EC,  but it seems no one else is willing to take on any team with better records in the WIAC.  But we all know the main reason whether it is admitted to or not.  Many play-off contenders want to protect their records and are not willing to run the risk of suffering a NC beat down.  The WIAC is a victim of their own success.

Too bad St. Cloud didn't want a re-match at the Perk!   ;)

Funniest line I've read in a while.  Downtown, after the NCAA is done in the WIAC could you please send them out to the NWC and ASC for the scheduling issues some of our teams have been having for years.
