Greetings to the WIAC board and a boost of karma for all.  Have been out of touch for several weeks due to vacationing in "God's Country," and I don't mean Wisconsin.   ;D  Some interesting stuff while I was gone.  Seems you got yourself in a little hot water, BoBo.   ;) I could not help but remember back and chuckle about the days I first started reading these boards in the fall of 05 when the Hawks were making noise for the first time at the national level.  Every week our new opponent would come on here, first the Johnnies, then Linfield posters, etc. and explain why a WIAC team, "would not be playing football in December," because history showed that they were a one and done conference in the play-offs.  Atleast they can no longer say that, "the Hawks have never brought home the Walnut and Bronze."  ;D  I agree with the MIAC posters that it remains to be seen if the Hawks can maintain this pace and consistancy but I believe that the table is set thanks to the recent successes.  Not so much from winning a national championship but because they have been playing for one for three years now.  It is not about this year's class so much as how good the last two have been.  Player development will be key.  But, "with great success comes great expectations," and now the Hawks will have to deal with the same thing that great programs like MUC, Linfield, SJU, etc have had to deal with.  Nothing less than a trip to Virginia will be considered enough and that is a bar set very high.  Programs like the Johnnies and the Raiders have a remarkable and consistant history and deserve great respect for it.  Let's hope this is the beginning of the same for the Warhawks.  But either way, it should not negate this three year run and all that the program has accomplished.
Glad to hear about the recap video, WC11.  You know I have been waiting for that.  A more balanced vid will do deserved justice to the best game I have ever witnessed.  It was a real shame that someone had to lose that day. With 11 lead changes, it was a heart attack a minute and when the Hawks took the lead with 47 seconds left, I was scared to death.  WAY TOO MUCH TIME for that QB.  Great respect was earned by both teams and I can't wait to see it.  You do a tremendous job.

Great news about the Linfield game video. Have a copy of the game video we got from one of the coaches but not the same. Thank you Wildcat....Best game we ever went to and we were at them all for a five year run.....can't wait to see your usual excellent work....

Thanks for the words.

The good thing about the footage was the guys that were shooting from the field level continued to film even when it was the Hawks with the big play (example: Stanley bomb) so I had good multiple angles on 90% of the action.

With all the excellent efforts in that game the two plays that probably had some of the biggest impact were simple football plays with a D-End (Kosterman) getting his hands up and tipping two passes that turned into two Hawk TDs.

YES!!! and who returned that interception?!?!?! oh yeah THE BIG RED MACHINE ;D

Man, Elliot was unstoppable. I think he had an 80% completion rate with 525 passing. Does anyone know if Linfield actually has a two step drop? That would explain everything.

Hey stranger, welcome home. Hope all is well.  As you can see I got a couple of +k's while you were on TDY and then BAM back down into the familiar territory of -K's. It's good to be loved. Haven't stirred up the neighbors in a while. just waiting for the opportunity.  ;D Stealth hanger is quiet after a harrowing close encounter south of the great USA borders while on a tequila bombing mission :o Smelling the football season and planning our trips from location undisclosed, Stealthness, to 08 games. Puget Sound for sure where we fully expect to rattle the cages of a few in the local establishments fully regaled in everything Warhawk. All the swag is out of the baskets washed, pressed and the purple and black look just as sweet with the championship logo fully displayed as they did in Janurary. Wondering if the airlines can + or -k us before we even start the season for smuggling on some Purple Haze.
Let's play some football.

I'm with you, Sakman. That Linfield/Whitewater game was the best one I've ever seen. Those were two well-coached teams, and they played some outstanding football.

I don't recall Linfield fans disrespecting Whitewater. Now Rowan, that was a different story, and that proved to be true, even down to their fans. But the Whitewater people were class all the way. Many of the Linfield folks have been Whitewater fans since then, including me.

Thanks for the kind words, BoBo and OJ.  My best to you, Stealth.  I have been carrying the torch the last few years, (along with Sakman,) when it came to making the claim that the, "cupboard was not bare," especially after the loss in 06 of Jacobs, Stanley and Schmitt and Sakallaris.  Glad to have help this year, BoBo, but I think the 07 team said it better than we could.  ;)   Those close to the program the last few years know that there were players that could have started on any other team in the WIAC had they not been backing up AA's.  I won't dispute the fact that the loss of these amazing 23 seniors will be the biggest reloading challenge yet for this program but it would be very nieve for anyone to think that the Hawks will fall very far.  Can they make it back to Salem?  I didn't think they would make it back in 07 let alone win it all because of all the new elements especially at QB and the coaching staff! I don't have specifics either for you, Klop, since you seem to want details and I can only speak in generalities.  I have heard that recruiting has gone VERY well for several years now, there will be a few transfers coming in, and that the holes on the O-line are filled already.  Rindahl will fill the role nicely of "monster LB," and has already proven his worth.  There are so many things that make up a successful season including many unknowns like injuries but my point before was that outside observers have been pointing out the Hawks losses every year since 05 implying that their success was fleeting and I think the program has demonstrated that is not true.  "Success breeds Success."  Afterall, isn't that one of the ways that programs like the Raiders and Johnnies have achieved their legendary history?  Playing for and winning a National Championship is quite a recruiting tool.  But they still must compete in the strongest conference in the country with a 100 man roster limit to achieve their play-off spot and that will continue to be the biggest challenge.  Winning conference it the first thing on their to-do list, I am sure.

About this time last year I remember hearing all the talk that WW's defensive line would have a very difficult time overcoming the loss of Ryan Kleppe.  By the end of the 07 season, Ryan Ogrizovich had broken Kleppe's single-season sack record.  One thing I've learned over the many years of covering D3 football - it is amazing how many players "take the bull by the horns" when elevated from a back-up roll to a starting roll.  I believe their will be a lot of D3 fans around the country that will be surprised at the impact players WW will put on the field this year.
