News of another ex-Warhawk, AJ Raebel is playing semi-pro football for a team called the Wisconsin Wolfpack.  The Wolfpack are the result of a merger between the Wisconsin Bulldogs of the NAFL and the Franklin Outlaws, champions of the Ironman Football League in 2007.  Anyone familiar with the Franklin Outlaws knows they were comprised of several former UWW football players.  UWW Grads Tom Karthausser, Pete Kishline and Dustin Reynolds are coaches for the team.  In addition, there are many other players from WIAC schools.

If the rankings had any effect on the outcome of the games, they would mean something. Pre-season rankings are just that. Someone's informed (we hope) conclusion based on many factors. You people shouldn't get your testicles in a twist about it. Go over to the MIAC Board and see how worked up we Johnnie fans are about pre-season polls.

But we're quiet, retagent, because we know we are obviously in the correct place according to the mystic social football order.  And that place?  Somewhere (anywhere) behind UWW, duh.

My testicles are not twisted about it.  Last time I checked they were hanging straight, left one slightly lower than right.

For what it's worth, and that probably isn't much, I think St Johns would have kicked the hell out of those Wesley teams too.

As for a response to a couple pages back--I'm pretty high up on Donovan. I know I know, he's yet to start a game for the Hawks; but he's smart and has a good handle of the offense. Physically I know he could be successful, but time will tell. He's tall and quite thin, I just hope he can take some big hits if he needs to. I can remember seeing JJ rolling around after some hits and wondering how he's get up.

Nonetheless, I feel comfortable with Donovan under center.

In other news, Jeff Schebler is competing in the National Elite Camp put on by Kohl's Kicking and Punting camps. The three day camp is chalked full of D1 starters from around the country and results are sent to NFL GM's. Best of luck Jeff.

Donovan is probably the front runner for the QB position.  Though somewhat limited he's had game day experience and I've seen him look pretty good in the reserve games.  He's reasonably mobile though not as much so as Danny Jones was.  However aside from Tyler Grovesteen Danny was the most mobile quarterback I've can recall seeing.  Donovan has a stronger arm than Danny did though it's not as strong as Jake's was.  He's somewhere in between the two past quarterbacks.  Less mobile, stronger arm than Danny.  More mobile, not as strong as arm as Jake.  Personally I'm comfortable with under center as well and I like the fact he's played in pressure situations and excelled albeit in the baseball program.  He's a good athlete and it looks like his turn has finally arrived.

Langer is another QB prospect that interests me though I think he's going have to wait a while to get his shot.

For what it's worth, and I admit I have little lnowledge regarding UWW players who did not play much in the last year or so, I think it will be very hard for the Warhawks to be the juggernaut they have been for the last three years. They may have the best placekicker in DIII, and a couple of very good linebackers. Just about everyone else is somewhat untested. It would be quite a feat for all the replacements to reach the skill levels exhibited by those who are gone from last year. But, as I said, we will see when the season begins.

This sounds like a broken record. Just replace the three with however long our current year of success is.......
2007, 2009, 2010, 2011 NCAA Division 3 Champions.
2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 WIAC Champions.

Pat,
Is this the same Pat  that we have, or some of us at least, come to respect or a stupid twin? Jones looked bad ? What game were you at.  ??? Perfectly groomed and the National Champions hat looked great.
Besides this is so last year. Kinda like the faux aligator purse carryng the pink shaved poodle Pat has.
Bobo and FB413 I am proud to get the -K hits from Pat on this one.  Getting close to even and I just can't have that reputation.

Maybe, but it's one less variable.

Jones looked bad against Mount Union (what QB didn't?) but he was still pretty darn good.
There's only one way to find out if a man is honest...ask him. If he says 'yes,' you know he is a crook.

If I were going to karma you, you'd know it.

By any measure 9-for-24 passing looks bad. Did you not notice I was defending him to the Mount Union fans who only saw him play once? Sheesh.

How do you think the passing and run game will look like this year?

It's good that you guys back your team, but take off the lilac, lavender/purple glasses for a few minutes, and at least acknowledge that there might be some questions about the personnel this year. Even if you have superior talent, it doesn't necessarily translate into a great team. I think I've been around long enough to have seen more early prognostications go awry than many of you. I was an interested observer before most of you were shi##!ng yellow.

Oh, come on retagent, why not let a few of us young, impressionable whipper snappers have some good, clean, wholesome fun. Why do you always come in here, "poop" (I KNOW IT'S RAIN BUT POOP SOUNDS BETTER) on our parade and then leave before it starts to stink? Are you sure you weren't a "seagull manager" in a former life? I bet you're the stereotypical grumpy old man, spending your twilight years sitting on your front porch, shot gun in hand, just hoping the neighbor boys kick their ball in your yard.  Just busting your chops, bud...you're always welcome here - from one guy who's as old as dirt to another!  ;)  I say, let the boys have their fun...if it comes back to bite us, then you have your ready made case to dwell on...only time will tell.
