I do believe the visitors' side of Perkins Stadium has lost a few seats in the remodel....I think we'll need a visitors' section on the home side for the bigger drawing games like Lacrosse and homecoming. Here are the latest photos....

Good to see some D3 Football preseason second-team All-American selection recognition for two WIAC players -
DT Brad Vickroy from UWSP and WR Michael Zweifel from UWRF...

Just put out some lawn chairs, they'll be fine. It'd still be better the old Veteran's Memorial visitors side at La Crosse

It looks that way...but to make up for the loss, picture 6 shows a nice level surface behind the visitors bench area, next to the visitors bleachers, for the cannon guy to send off rounds.  Looks like easy access to and from, also.  badgerwarhawk should be pleased!!

I'll have to check to be certain but I don't think we've lost any seating on the visitor's side.

There has been a slight snag in the project however.  Damned state inspector.  It has something to do with something that was supposed to be done with the large rock before it was laid.  Of course no one was told that was necessary until that part of the project had been completed.  So they've had to pick it all up right down to the dirt, do whatever it was and now they're laying it back down.  Sorry but I don't know that much about rock so I can't be anymore specific.   It's my understanding that the field turf itself will be installed next week.  I'm anxious to head up there and see how they do it.  The perimeter with the walls and concrete walks etc. looks really nice.  They've also started preparing the area where the new entryway will be erected.  When it's all done it's really going to enhance the Perkins Stadium experience.

Their was no big snag in the Perkins Stadium turf project.  As BW alluded to, the Field Turf people are scheduled to start laying down the carpet next week.  Landscaping has also started.  No change to visitor seating at the Perk.  Same bleachers - just looks different with all the new concrete.

The stadium is going to be awesome...it would be nice to bring in some big name teams (during the regular season, that is)...how much do we have to pay to get Mt. Union or St. John's here?   :D

Dude, He peed on your f*&^%n' rug.

He peed on my f*&^%n' rug.

This may have been the first time I had to scroll back more pages than one or two on the WIAC board to catch up. Good work fellas. My head's still spinning.

413. You alluded to the home opener for UWW and UWL at  the Perk. What day is it? I may put it on my calendar.

I'm not 413, but if I may, the Warhawks open with St. Xavier (Chicago), an NAIA playoff qualifier the last 3 years, on Sept 5th, a Friday night game, I believe.  UWL visits on 4 Oct in a 1pm game.

Thanks for helping me out, BoBo.  I brought up the game on the MIAC board with regards to the subject of missing important games because of weddings.  Said I would be at the Hawks home opener early but that I will be forced to miss the UWW/UWLC game on Oct. 4th due to a wedding.  Very disappointed because the tension in the Perk the day the Eagles come to town after last year's epic comeback by the Hawk's will be so thick, the fans will need machete's to get into the stadium!   ;D

Based on my not-so-distant-memory, I can't recall Whitewater having a night game like this (especially on a Friday). Even during my college tenure, 6 years ago (d@mn I'm getting old), I can't recall them playing under the lights before.

does anyone have any insight on why the friday night game (compared to the usual saturday noon/1:00 starts)? The Whitewater Whippets can't be pleased if they have to compete with the local university to draw a crowd that friday night.  ;)

I appoligize ahead of time if this was already discussed.

Can't wait to see the new field on 9/5!

Suggest BoBo get a Penguin camera on one or two of my surrogate nephews and nieces, tape them to the goal posts and live feed the LAX game via pod cast to you.
True but funny story: Went to a wedding a few years back for a couple who were football retarded by the time the reception was half way over only the bride and groom were dancing. Everyone else was in the bar watching the game. Including both bride and grooms parents. Nice to start to a marriage.  ::)

Actually it looked like that was going to be the case when we had jumped out to a 31-0 lead by halftime.  Then St Xavier started passing the ball alot and put 21 unanswered points on the board to cut the deficit to 10 with about 9 minutes remaining and things looked a bit different.  Fortunately we finally answered their run with a field goal of our own and the defense stiffened so the final was 34-21.

They're a quality NAIA program and generally qualify for their national tournament year in and year out.  I believe they are ranked 8th in the preseason poll this year.
