The only real options are the GLIAC which is already a 12-team league, and the NSIC which already has 14.  Of course if the University of Dallas can join a league in Pennsylvania then I guess there's really no limits.  :D

A question, and probably a dumb one at that. Why would anyone want to be Division 2, when you could be D3?

Contact your U's faculty rep and ask about this rumor:  UWSP's chancellor has stated that the Pointers will undertake a feasibility study tp explore the possibility of moving their programs to DII.

If UWSP does decide it would like to move up to D2 the rest of the WIAC would have to make the move. Since all schools are University of Wisconsin system schools, both the state legislature and the UW Board of Regents would have to approve the measure.  In a time of high budget deficits, the chances of me running a four-minute mile would have a better chance.

I didn't realize how much Stan jumped around athletic programs after leaving whitewater when Leipold got the nod over him. four positions over the past two years, wow.

So, does River falls at home have a chance against U-Dub? The only thing that scares me is Zweifel (6'1")  lighting up Whitewater's undersized corners. I would like to see the D-line get in the face of Harmon (like they did last week vs. LaCrosse) creating pressure to force huried throws, before Zweifel can run his route.

Other than that, there should be no reason whitewater can't extend its conference winning streak.

I'd say that River Falls has a chance but it's improbable. I think they keep it under a monkey stomp though.

WW by 36.5...I think even in a worst case scenario, UWW cruises.

Zweifel is good, but can be shut down (2 catches vs St. Johns) when others do their jobs efficiently...WW corners are small, but UWW's strong rush will negate that disadvantage and actually turn it into a positive (INT's).  He might get 7-10 catches, but he will be contained and out of the endzone.  It will take more than one guy having a career day for RF to keep it close.  I don't see that happening.

As BG said, this River Falls team defensive weakness plays directly in the hands of the Warhawk strength, running the ball - look for the Warhaws to control the TOP by their sustained drives.  River Falls tied with La Crosse for last in WIAC scoring defense at 28.2 PPG., pass defense 7th, rush defense 6th.  WW#1 in rushing, total offense, rushing defense, total defense, pass defense efficiency, etc, etc, etc.  Could be a long day & a lot of huffing and puffing for the Falcon D.  Look for 2 Warhawks rushing for over 100 yards on the day.

WW's passing game, which has been the only part of their game under the microscope, actually has a higher per attempt average gain - 6.8 - than any team in the conference.  I expect another strong, improving performance against this sub-par defense.

All-in-all, UWW in a runaway.

I see the whitewater-LaCrosse game is currently on FSN right now for the WIAC game of the week. It's actually nice to watch the second half because our group didn't return to the game after halftime, we knew it was over. Plus the food and drinks were pleantiful in the parking lot.

Watching the packed crowd on TV is an awesome sight, but i notice it did thin out a bit in the second half.

Can't wait till homecoming!!

Menlo and Whittier made it on to the Sports Illustrated web site.  They are featured in the last video on the Campus Clicks page.  Pretty funny...
BTW,the photographer kneeling behind the goal post is me. After the kick I lowered my camera and looked over my shoulder and, damn, missed a great shot. ;D

I realize this doesn't come as a complete shocker to anyone, but Larry Terry's QB revolving door at La Crosse is getting another workout this week.

"We've just got to find a guy that can lead the team,"..."It was (a) very difficult (decision) because the last thing you want is a musical chairs at quarterback," said the leader of the band.

Interestingly the desire to move Stevens Point to DII isn't coming from the athletic department.  It's coming directly from the chancellor.  The athletic department opposes the move.

I would put money on Voice running a 4 minute mile before I'd bet on Stevens Point getting the ok to move to DII.

Perhaps La Crosse hasn't learned to handle the vastness of their QB riches:  Griffin Moe, Alex Seguin, and Nick Anker. Dan Trussoni was  a marvelous small school QB coming out of De Soto two years  ago, who's now buried deep on their roster.  Lee Brekke, 2007 player of the year in the Big 8, apparently is grayshirting, waiting for his turn on the carousel next year.  (S-h-h-h, don't tell Gary Karner, because no WIAC schools gray shirt.)  Be wary, Whitewater. Perhaps this same too-much-talent syndrome will bite your butt someday.  Here today, but gone tomorrow? Ryan Gorecki, Taylor Edwards, Derek Underwood , Justin Spaulding, Antwon Anderson....(Tongue from  cheek surgery has been discussed but not scheduled).

What are they showing the first 10 minutes over and over again? That was the game. After that the tricycle race was more entertaining.  ::)

Sick but true as pulled from the BBC.

Sudan man forced to 'marry' goat

A Sudanese man has been forced to take a goat as his "wife", after he was caught having sex with the animal.
The goat's owner, Mr Alifi, said he surprised the man with his goat and took him to a council of elders.

They ordered the man, Mr Tombe, to pay a dowry of 15,000 Sudanese dinars ($50) to Mr Alifi.

"We have given him the goat, and as far as we know they are still together," Mr Alifi said.

Mr Alifi, of Hai Malakal in Upper Nile State, told the Juba Post newspaper that he heard a loud noise around midnight on 13 February and immediately rushed outside to find Mr Tombe with his goat.
"When I asked him: 'What are you doing there?', he fell off the back of the goat, so I captured and tied him up."

Mr Alifi then called elders to decide how to deal with the case.

"They said I should not take him to the police, but rather let him pay a dowry for my goat because he used it as his wife," Mr Alifi told the newspaper.

Vote no on Prop 14. Marriage is between a man and a women not between a Man and a Goat. Except in San Fransicko.  ;) :D ;D
