To think that it's Sunday afternoon and we are still discussing the TD run by the back up to the back up running back late in the fourth quarter of the game.  I can promise the defensive coord for RF isn't mad at UWW for running a play....he's mad that his guys on defense couldn't step up, show some pride/heart and make just ONE play against UWW's back ups.

Not trying to sound harsh, but I've been on the defense where we couldn't stop their back ups on a late drive where they were simply just running the ball straight forward.  Not once was anyone mad at the other team....including the coaching staff.  It's not like they were running reverses and and throwing flee flickers.

Badgerwarhawk said it all. In a general sense I think the argument about letting reserves play the game is good enough. Putting an individual face on that general argument puts the nail in the coffin.

Way to go Derek Stanley!!  His name doesn't appear in the play by play, so it's probable he didn't play, but maybe his appearance on the Ram's game day roster spurred them on to victory over the Redskins.

BoBo,

Great job this week on the OAC pick-em board.  I see that MUC is a 54 point favorite this coming weekend. I wonder what the weekly point spreads would be if they played in the WIAC?? ???

voice, I've come a long way on that, considering I was dead last after a terrible 1st week (and thinking I met my match).  I've slowly been sneaking up on the others since...How do you move a piano without anyone noticing?  Move it 1 inch at a time...that's been my plan...one inch at a time.  Regardless, making it to the top of the weekly results and within striking distance of the overall lead, I'm still quite shocked...however, thanks for the shout out; I didn't want to dislocate my elbow patting myself on my back!!  ;)

BoBo, it was an amazing day to say the least!  We were the first to arrive outside the Cotton Bowl at 5:05 am at gate 11 (always a goal of ours.)  Even though they didn't let us into the parking lot until 6:30 or so, we were able to get the tents set up fairly quickly and get the barbeque pits started before people started showing up around 7:30.  We had a portable dish this year for the 50" TV, so that was pretty nice when we were watching ESPN College Game Day (which was at the Cotton Bowl.)  The weather was perfect and the extra 16,000 seats in the stadium was a nice addition.  Although the Horns looked horrible the first quarter, it was such a great game!  It was even sweeter that OU was ranked #1.  Man, I hate OU!

The best part about TX/OU weekend in Dallas is that it's a whole weekend event.  You see so many people here in Dallas wearing their respective team colors, and Saturday afternoon and into the evening the winning team, LONGHORNS, get to walk around with a chip on their shoulders while the Oklahoma fans wish they would have stayed home.  Did I mention that OU was #1?

UT is now #1 in both polls, but they have three ridiculously hard games ahead of them.  ESPN College Game Day will be in Austin next Saturday for the game against Mizzou.  It will be tough for any team to go undefeated in the Big 12 this year, but WE BEAT OU......all is well.

Sorry everyone.....no more Texas talk.  Back to UWW.....

Great game, warhawks!!!!  Falcons passed the ball much better than I expected.  Storm Harmon, (isn't that a great name for a QB?) had too much time most of the game to make things happen and he did quite often to Z.  Thought front 7 would put more pressure on him.  I watched on the Penn Atlantic site and yes, JF is right, the announcers were having a total melt down when the Hawks continued to play the last minute.  My opinion is that when you put in your seconds and thirds, only fair to let them play.  When late points are scored by back ups, oh well.  How do you tell them to take a knee? How about that Platteville/ Point score?  Must have been a hell of a defensive battle.  Pointers win 3-0!

I was referring to the announcers on the Penn Atlantic site, Voice.   UWRF homer students, I believe.   I know that the UWW announcers are MUCH better and completely unbiased!   LOL  ;) :D ;D

Methinks UWL's QB earned what will be his second start of his career (this coming Saturday vs. Platteville) after his performance last night against UWEC... (UWEC 35, UWL 21)

Sophomore Nick Anker's final passing numbers were not great %-wise, 11-33, for 192 yards, and he had some hiccups in his first start... Had some timing problems and overshot a lot of receivers, but that would be expected in a QB making his first start...

However, he did throw three TD passes, showed a lot poise and hung in the pocket, all against a Blugold D that had been playing exceptionally well so far this season... Anker was also a jitterbug, too, and may cause teams problems with his running/scrambling ability. Had a highlight play when he bounced off players and broke two tackles to score on a two-point conversion...

UWEC jumped out to a quick 14-0 lead halfway through the first quarter, putting the Eagles in catchup mode all night... They battled, but...

The 'Golds Kyle Paulson struck quickly for those first two TDs, on 40- and 32-yard pass plays; those two series had three, and one play, respectively. So, the O scored quickly, and benefited from short fields... Paulson ended up 25-37, for 307 yards and four TDs... Brett Schreiner had 10 catches for 129 yards, and two of the TDs...

Defense gave up 21 points, but was able to prevent UWL from really getting any momentum to get back into it...

Probably less...but make no mistake about it, hscoach's spreads are awesome; he has an uncanny way of picking these games surprisingly close.  You wait, MUC will probably win by 55, but 90% will pick the dog because of the high number. Makes it a really tough pickem, as a result.

Last year he went something like 4 straight weeks of being off on MUC by 0.5 points - and was on the wrong side every time.  It was a running joke that LK checked the boards and was toying with hscoach! ;D

We didn't do anything fancy, just ran the ball right at them.

  W 1-10 W45   UW-WHITEWATER drive start at 03:47.
W 1-10 W45   Antwan Anderson rush up middle for 14 yards to the RF41, 1ST DOWN WW
               (Matt Guertin).
W 1-10 R41   Antwan Anderson rush up middle for 20 yards to the RF21, 1ST DOWN WW
               (Brady Luebke).
W 1-10 R21   J. Spaulding rush up middle for 6 yards to the RF15 (Phil Dubbe).
W 2-4  R15   J. Spaulding rush up middle for no gain to the RF15.
W 3-4  R15   Bruce Langer middle pass incomplete to Eric Brewster, PENALTY WW holding. (Just a little deceptive Mike Holmgren special, bootleg off play action...with about 1:15 left).
               declined.
W 4-4  R15   Jake Andersen rush up middle for 3 yards to the RF12 (Brent Knutson).
--------------- 6 plays, 43 yards, TOP 02:37

And, RF tacklers Brady Luebke, Phil Dubbe, Brent Knutson?  Not on any 2-deeps I could find.

I am in the minority on this issue, according to discussions on these boards over the years. I call how WW handled the end of the game running up the score. I've heard all the arguments as to why it isn't, and I understand the thinking, but I just can't buy into it. Maybe it's just me being old. In my days, the whole RF program would file this in their memory, and wait for the time to stick it to WW in the future.
If you can't ignore an insult, top it; if you can't top it, laugh it off; and if you can't laugh it off, it's probably deserved.

I'm not going to argue it anymore.  You have your opinion and I know I won't be able to change it.  RF threw 8 passes on their last two possessions, the first of which started with 1:10 remaining on the clock.  They obviously could have run out the clock and ended the game but chose not to.

It's very likely that someday the shoe will be on the other foot and when it is you won't hear me whine about it.  If your starters can't control your opponent's subs and you're unwilling to end the game when you have the chance you deserve whatever fate befalls you.

I'm don't want to argue with anyone, just putting my 2 cents in...
If it was Donovan still in the game on that pass, or Levell Coppage going after TD #5, then I would consider it running up the score... regardless of Anderson's circumstances, he still is considered the #4 RB on the depth chart...
