Is that just one point down from a MS?  ;)

A romp is less descriptive that a Monkey Stomp.  It's too early in the week to proclaim a Monkey Stomp, but the romp may get upgraded later :P

Duffman;  What are you predicting for a Johnnie crowd this weekend?  I've made the call out to the subway alumni in Chi town...Bus will be there, how's Veek looking?

I've made the drive a few times this past fall to southern WI and the best directions are 52 south to Rochester and then 90 through LaCrosse to pay homage to the eagle, continuing on east to WW.

Map quest for exact directions from Rochester...

What do you want us to talk about?  WW fans have been absent?  We've talked enough football between SJU fans all season.  What do you want to know?

Duffman;  I'd like to know you're girl friend's name and what kind of wine you like to drink with your turkey.

By the way, the black Under Armor is coming out again this weekend as it is unbeaten.

Here's some football talk for you.  It's a brief overview of the Johnnies this season.  Why doesn't one of you UWW fans quit complaining about us not talking football and give us an honest overview of what to expect?

The o-line isn't too big and is much better at pass blocking than run-blocking (save for last week).  They have struggled with a d-line that controls the line of scrimmage.  They aren't the type to blow you off the ball in the running game; they'll work angles and beat you that way.  Starting guard broke his ankle vs. Monmouth.  I'm not sure who'll replace him.  The receivers are fairly good.  Gearman is huge and runs like a gazelle (bruised ribs hampered him last game), Royce-Diop is deceptively fast, but his hands are questionable.  They runs WR sweeps with him a lot.  Haugen is a midget and not too fast, but he catches the ball well.  There are a few other receivers that will rotate in, too.  Keating is a big TE, but he's not thrown to a lot.  Our RBs are very good.  There are about 4 that will play quite a bit.  Weber and Lofboom will probably start.  Both catch the ball well out of the backfield.  Weber is an animal if he gets a hole.  Beaudry and Luberts usually get quite a bit of time as well.  Both are small but run hard.  QB is Kofoed.  Very, very good, but he's young and will make his share of mistakes.  He'll force throws when he's out of rhythm.  He'll work the short passing game a lot, usually.  Also, he'll throw long on occasion, but not as much as I'd like to see.

On defense, the d-line is probably the best I've ever seen.  They aren't very big, but use quickness to their advantage.  The run a read and react and will come at you in a lot of different alignments.  They are very fast off the ball and get into the backfield a lot (12 sacks last week).  The linebackers are pretty good and very athletic.  Hawn is by far the best.  He's very smart and leads the defense well.  None of them are very big, but they run very well and have good lateral movement.  Both corners are good but not very big.  Zauhar doesn't get thrown at too much (you may have seen him return a pick for 100 yards in the Stagg in '03).  The safeties are young but have inproved well as the season has gone along.  They both have pretty good size

OzJohnnie

I love reading your summary, Duff.

The WIAC board has figured out the perfect response to MIAC.  Every supporter disapears.  Maybe oldpa had 12 different logins and spent all day typing to himself.  It's like a big, empty storage tank around here.  Nothing but a little diffused light and some lingering echos.

BTW - I think WW will disapear in the game as well.  Their heads won't be in it and the Johnnies will whoop 'em good.  A couple big plays early and the Hawks will give up the ghost.

Oz,

Since I'm sort of on the same side of the globe as you Ill send you a UWW hat to eat when the warhawks stomp the johnnies at the cow pasture ;D

Mr.Shoes

This ought to get some chatter (and spiting!) going...

Year in and year out, we hear how strong and powerful and dominating WIAC schools are and how the fast, small, "finesse" SJU teams are going to be stunned in the playoffs against a battle-tested (from the "GREATEST CONFERENCE IN THE LAND") opponent. And yet, year in and year out, WIAC schools find their seasons ending at the hands of the Johnnies. No, it hasn't always been this way, but we've got a nice streak going here, don't we? I thought so. Oh, and before we're called "turf wussies" or something similar that "proves" we can't play on grass, I think Stout ('99) and SP ('01) would agree that big, strong WIAC teams can still lose to SJU when the field is soft and the weather sucks. I'm looking forward to yet another "too big and too fast and too strong" 'sconsin school finding out just how fast and strong the Johnnies from the "weak, pansy-ass MIAC" are. Red beats purple by at least two scores (and no, a figgie and a safety don't count as "two scores". I'm talking 10pts, minimum).
Nice day, huh?

I would have to eat it - God knows I couldn't wear it  :o

If the Johnnies win, send me your stateside address (you're going back soon, right?) and I'll send you an Aussie hat to wear.  It will be painful, though, because it will be too good to eat and every time you wear it, you'll be answering questions about where you got it.  You have to say, "A guy from Oz gave it to me when the Johnnies stomped the Warhawks."  *evil cackle*

The last time the Warhawks played a MIAC team in the playoffs at home was in 1990 I was on that team and we lost to the tommies 24-23 the first half was all tommies we were stunned that at half we were down by 20+ points.  We did come back and made it one hell of a game  (missed extra point killed us).   I personally have much respect for the teams from the MIAC.  The UWW team of 2005 is similar to the 90 team ( can pass and run equally well) and has a strong front 7.  I see this game coming down to a field goal at the end... If and only if the Warhawks dont screw themselves with stupid penalties.

You're a brave man to admit losing to the Tommies ;D

Hey they were the MIAC confrence champs that year...  still hate them though and that damn running back for them Gary Trettle sp??

blugold45

Mr Shoes,

The last time that the WIAC has seen a team with both a great running game, great passing game, and a tough defense was probably the 1998 UWEC team.  Now I am sure what happened that year but I'm pretty sure you do.  Thats right you lost in Collegeville.

WIAC posters are doing something that is unlike any other year.  They are not talking crap because they know they have a team that speaks for itself.  SJU won't be able to run and Kofoed isn't good enough to beat WW by himself.  Its gonna be a long drive back to Collegeville.

Kilted,

There were a lot of supposidly's because I heard all of it from someone who watched the scrimmage.  I am confident that "hurricane johnnie" won't be doing any damage at Carson Park.  No one at Eau Claire looks at the Johnnies with any doubt or fear, that may work with half the teams in the MIAC but not here in WIAC country.
Prediction:

UWEC-24    SJU-14

Actual:  Saint John's 35,  Wis.-Eau Claire 28

BG45, based on your past predictions I feel much better now.
