Interestingly the desire to move Stevens Point to DII isn't coming from the athletic department.  It's coming directly from the chancellor.  The athletic department opposes the move.

I would put money on Voice running a 4 minute mile before I'd bet on Stevens Point getting the ok to move to DII.

I knew that I had heard that someplace before.

Wasn't trying to show you up BW, just consider it further confirmation.

(Gee, it's all about who gets the credit with you Whitewater guys isn't it?  :D)

I know, i just may consider going. I see it's only an hour and a half drive. Anyone else plan on going? or will i be the lone one wearing purple in the parking lot?

Plus it's their homecoming, i think i'll have a few oshkosh friends that'll be there.

I plan on going and wouldn't be surprised if 300 Warhawk fans are there...let's pack Titan Stadium! I believe there was a good sized Warhawk contingent in 2006.

not in the parking lot if you want to drink. have to go elsewhere. I suggest a close by bar, and go to the game right before kickoff.

The La Crosse stadium re-construction project is in full swing, as documented by this picture slide show

The turf fleld looks to be completed, track being painted, with the home side seating grandstand still under construction.  Looking good...

Thanks for the update...it really is a beautiful location in the hills there in LaCrosse...looks like they are getting a stadium to match

Also, as far as funding, I 100% agree, UWW has one of the best funded D3 schools in the country. and I'm not just talking about the football program. We just happen to have a VERY generous alumni who happens to be a very successful/wealthy realtor in Whitewater. As a fan and alumn I am very greatfull for having him donate.  Our atheltic programs have come along way since I've been there, and that was only 6 years ago.

I appreciate the candor of the quote above. It puts me in mind of an incident that occurred almost 10 years ago to the day. I attended a RF vs. EC game at Carson Park on EC's homecoming. At the end of some sort of halftime extravaganza, the PA guy said, "The entire Blugold athletic department would like to offer a big thank to Jim Carter Ford (or Chevy??) for.."..... I forget what.  Long-time RF coach Mike Farley was in the crowd and remarked, "I hate to hear that." Falcon fans were all ears when he went on to explain how unregulated outside money would magnify the inherent disparity between the various haves and have nots in the conference. I can't remember all the specifics, but he made it pretty clear that he doubted that RF would continue to be consistently competitive in the years ahead if big money were to become the wild card in a future scenario. At the end of 1999, John O'Grady had the second highest winning percentage of the decade (yes, better than Berez and  UWW). Now, ten years later, can anyone remember when UWRF had a winning season? Or, Platteville? Or when Superior had a football team? Do you think Don Williams' gift and Stout's rise are correlated somehow? Yup, the year was 1998. and, ironically enough,  it was the last year UWRF won a title. So, all readers of a sympathetic mindset, spend a buck, and send the lottery ticket to Rick Bowen, AD @ 54022. We, too, want the best program money can buy.

Despite being the kiss of death as far as attending away sporting events I made the trek to Oshkosh two years ago and we actually won.  Though it was more difficult than some of us expected.  Unfortunately I have this miserable event in my life called bowling Saturday which happens every third Saturday of the month from September to April so I won't be able to make the trip.  Though I do run out to the car between frames for updates.  It's caused me to miss more good games than I care to count but I've got to keep the wife happy and for some reason, unknown to me, bowling Saturday does it.

I understand what you mean. if the wife ain't happy...you ain't happy  8)

The only reason why i'm considering going is b/c the wife is out of town this weekend.

The UWW scoring "issue" looks like it's done, but I read this tonight. Puts it into perspective, even if it's only HS.

I'm on board for a 30+ point win for UWW this weekend.

kestrel, I understand how you feel about the funding issue and 4th quarter play calling, but I was wondering if you care to comment regarding how your views on the transfer issue have changed (or not) in the past 20 or so months?  Whitewater once again has a few key transfers performing very well.

My cynical side says  take away the transfer advantage and the dominance of some programs would decrease a lot.

There had been some key transfers in the last few years but I am not aware of any of these transfers being recruited away from their original team. Transfers like Danny Jones, Rob Widuch, and the current crop made the first contact to see if there was interest from UWW. Due to the success of their program, coaching, stadium and the school itself UWW is currently in an enviable position where players unhappy at other schools for whatever reason are looking to the Warhawk program. When a program is as successful as the Warhawks over a period of time rumors usually start that something is being done to lure players to that program....what is luring players to UWW is simply winning and its wonderful facilities.....that's what convinced my son to go there in roughly 30 minutes or so and he will tell you it was the best decision he has ever made......
