Beaver will be joining Raebel next season playing for the Saskatchewan Roughriders.  Warhawkfootball.com posted that Raebel was signed the end of September to the same CFL team. Very cool that they well end up teammates again.

Ah, I get it now.  That is strange that they're signing 2009 guys when 2008 isn't over.

Good to hear Beaver didn't hang em' up after being so close to the NFL. Best of luck to him and Raebel in 2009.

Don't know how common it is but it appears that these boys are committed right now to something more important and could not join the Roughriders until next season anyway.  Raebel is enrolled in classes finishing his degree and Beaver is doing his student teaching at an elementary school according to separate articles on Warhawkfootball.com.

Reading a little about Saskatchewan from the CFL website, it says they are about to sell out their home schedule (28,000 permanent seats) for the first time in their 60 year history.  Other things of note:

* Their division (West) is the stronger of the two this year in the CFL.  All four teams are 9-6 or better.

* Saskatchewan has the second leading rusher in the CFL (Wes Cates, 177 att. 1,025 yards, 6.0 avg., 9 TD's)

* second leading rusher is Michael Bishop, former K-State QB, 38 att. 186 yds., 4.9 avg., 1 TD)

Let's not forget the most important detail, BoBo.    The Saskatchewan Roughriders are the defending national champs having won the 2007 Grey Cup!!   :)

Actually, I was leaving that interesting tidbit for someone else to report, like yourself!!

It seems the Roughriders could use the two former Warhawks right about now.  They are saying the injury bug has hit them this year harder than any team in the 100 year history of the CFL.

I like the name of their playing venue, Mosaic Stadium.

BTW, I'm currently taking bets on how long it takes the Guru to post a mention of the Beaver signing on the front page of D3football.com? I think it deserves a paragraph or two, don't you think?

I did not know about the Roughrider's head coaching being a former D3 guy.  Very interesting and makes sense that he would be interested in the former Warhawk standouts.  He would be familiar with the quality of players at this level and not as susceptible to the D1 bias.

BTW, Pat did mention Raebel's signing several weeks ago on his blog.  The link only was posted on the side column of the front page for about a week.  Surprised you missed it, BoBo.   :D

I saw the Raebel signing, but I was speaking about the Beaver signing.

I understand.  Just mentioning it as that may be where they choose to write about Beaver as well so everyone knows where to keep an eye out for it.

I just did the D3 football simulation for UWW and Oshkosh.  A 25 game set, UWW wins all 25, average score 34-14. Interesting that this year marks the 100th meeting between the two schools.

Also:

Platteville wins 25 of 25 matchups against LaCrosse
Projected Score: Wis.-Platteville 38 Wis.-LaCrosse 13

Eau Claire wins 25 of 25 matchups against Riv. Falls
Projected Score: Wis.-Eau Claire 38 Wis.-Riv. Falls 9

Stout wins 25 of 25 matchups against Wis.-Stevens Pt.
Projected Score: Wis.-Stout 33 Wis.-Stevens Pt. 14

Wabash wins 21 of 25 matchups against Wittenberg
Projected Score: Wabash 28 Wittenberg 18

Gosh it has taken half the afternoon to catch up my reading!!  Who knew that over the fall break in the land of no computers that I would get 15 pages behind on my Warhawk reading!!  I am thrilled to hear of both AJ and Justin's signing into the CFL for the 2009 season. That's so cool!  I know they will do such a great job and show everybody why WW football is the real deal!  Am so hoping that you guys make it back to Salem because I need my Warhawk fix!!  I also notice about an hour ago that Nick S made the National Team of the Week!  Congrats to him as well.  Sounds like you're packing the Perk very well!  As for the cannon, 2 weeks ago with my concussion, I did NOT APPRECIATE Lycoming's cannon, that's for sure!!  But I have recovered!

GO WARHAWKS! WIN BIG! RUN OVER ALL OPPONENTS! YOU'RE IN MY HEART EVERY WEEK!!!
Love, Olinemom
