Mr.Shoes

Blugold, I actually don't remember what happened in '98. I came to SJU in the fall of '99 and have yet to see a WIAC team beat us in the playoffs (and yes, thanks to your school, I have to keep qualifying that statement with an "in the playoffs". Jerks ;)).

So, no, I can't rebut this part of your argument: "The last time that the WIAC has seen a team with both a great running game, great passing game, and a tough defense was probably the 1998 UWEC team." That said, I don't know how good the '98 SJU team was, either. I DO know, however, that of the past 7 years, this Johnnie defense is as scary good as any of them. The offense leaves a little to be desired, but I was spoiled by 4 years of Blake Elliott. As for Kofoed, you've seen him twice: two season-openers. We're now 11 weeks further into the season. He's good enough. Trust me.

<tossing more gas on the fire> Perhaps the WIAC posters are staying quiet because they are worried that the "team that speaks for itself" still isn't enough to win in November and December. We'll see. As for me and my posting, I'm just having fun. Am I concerned about UWW? You bet. I go into every game thinking that it is going to be the one that sends me home upset. That doesn't mean I don't think we are going to win, though.

I'll take your score and exchange the numbers--and adjust for my two score margin prediction. SJU 24, UWW 14.
Nice day, huh?

Shoes,

were you really worried about the MC game last week??

Warhawks on a last second field goal 24-21  feel the power of cheese

Mr.Shoes

I wasn't predicting 62-3, if that qualifies as "worried".

Surely, you're not trying to equate UWW-SJU with SJU-MC, are you? There are different levels of "worry," just as they are different levels of MonkeyStomps. My worry about last week was whether or not we'd beat 'em by 21. This week, I'm concered only with a victory, two score margin or otherwise.

Naw, they're busy cutting up their deer and painting their faces yellow and green for the MNF game tonight.
Next Saturday:
SJU - 28
UWW- 10

Bet a Hamm's on it!

Nope, my question was about this statement.

I've taken playoff road trips to Pella, Salem (x2), Alliance, San Antonio, and Fargo (for a home game? Ugh). Half the time, I've gone home upset. I'm not too scared to go and I'm excited to cheer for the team. Do I expect to be disappointed? Never. Do I recognize the possibility? Certainly. Does it mean it's going to happen? Maybe, but not this weekend ;)
Nice day, huh?

Show up and do what you do hawks!! Which is dominate the line of scrimmage and jam it down there throats..  I'm finally a Beaver Believer,  keep up the good work #32.

I decided to do some statistical camparisons between the two teams to see how they really stack up against each other and I didn't really know how it would turn out but wanted to cut through the BS and forgetting history, see how this years teams compare.

By my count, WW leads in 5 out of the categories while SJU leads in 7.  WW leads in most of the offensive categories and SJU leads on the defensive side.  Hard to know how accurate they are since both teams have hung some huge numbers on teams and the stats, especially on the defensive of the ball, usually changes when starters leave the field.  True for both teams, I assume.  I was amazed at how close the, "win/loss records of opponents," and, "points scored," and, "points scored against," are!!  Anyway, what will the WW fans take away from this?  That depends but for me, it shows that since only the 2005 WW and SJU team will take the field, history out the window, this will be a hell of a game and WW has all the tools to win it!!  What will the SJU fans take from this?  Again, that depends, but it sure looks like SJU has all the tools to win it!!  But I would hope that they also see that they shouldn't take the WW Hawks lightly, I know their legendary coach isn't going to.
Disclaimer:  Checked and re-checked my facts and typing but there could still be a     mistake, I suppose!

I remember what happened, but that was pretty long ago.  I was 17 at the time.  (Shoes, TL fumbled on about the 1 foot line and gave them the ball).  2000 Stout was pretty solid all around and I remember what happened then, too.  Also, long ago!

[sarcasm]Blugold45 's predictions are always very accurate.[/sarcasm]

Should be a great game all around.

Football Fan413,

I know that the stripes called more penalties on WW.  I'm sorry it came off as whining.  I didn't mean it to.  The point I was trying to make was that with the difference of the calls the game may have turned out differently.  Not that we would have won.  That it may have been closer.  You dominated us, but with the difference of a few plays or calls it could have been closer on the scoreboard.  If that makes sense to you.  Your team was clearly the better team Sat.  We will just have to work hard in the off season and come back at you next year.  Good luck with SJU.  Should be a great game.

Don't forget the SPOTLIGHT special on Gagliardi tonight at 10:00. It's on DirecTV channel 641, if you have the Sport Pak. They may also have something similar on Dish Network or cable systems. It's on Fox Sports Net - North. Even you WIAC fans may even enjoy it.
