Fair enough.  No hard feelings on my part.  Plus, a karma point for being cool about the whole thing.   8)

You must have one of those high speed connections, Josh.  I'm on dial up so it takes some time and I just can't seem to keep up with you.   ;D

Naahhh...just my 56K AOL at home right now.  But I've now got a wireless modem, so broadband is in the near future!   :)

Warhawkguy, nice avatar!

Travel is basic to the ASC.  HSU has a good schedule this year.  They have only one really tough game on the road this year, TLU, which is 4-5 hours by bus.

The Mississippi College trip is 8-9 hours and the Sul Ross State trip is 5-6 hours.

HSU stays in Abilene for UMHB, Howard Payne (ooh they and HSU do not get along!) and ETBU.  McMurry game is at the "neutral" Shotwell Stadium.

Anyone know where to find updated rosters for UWEC and UWRF online? Neither school's athletics website seems to have this info. ???

Mr. Downtown

I had a problem with Eau Claires awhile back

And do they have computers at River Falls... ;)

Also, yes the logo does help somewhat with how Oshkosh looked like the Pittsburgh Steelers. But...after watching Iowa on the highlights...hmm...

Pointspecial -- Interesting analysis. Obviously, neither one of us can be totally objective (with your being a UWSP fan and my pulling for HSU). Whether you would put it this way or not, your analysis was saying that HSU, playing a sloppy game with a very long travel day under their belt and without their usual depth, beat the stuffing out of UWSP playing a sloppy game at home. Doesn't say much for UWSP nor the WIAC.
Not really a bad dog. Just misunderstood!

Freeman, Jay Runk is out for the season with a knee injury. He plans to return next season. Jamie Hinker got moved to O-Line because the coaches think that is his best position. He is a huge load and played great Saturday night. Rob Weinstein also played well and it was great to see him flying around out there again creating all kinds of havoc.

Padmofu--RF's football site is not up to speed, unfortunately. I'm about to complain to the guy in charge. There is no 2005 roster, no info. about this year's team. We're not known for rushing (except on the f.b. field) into things. Certainly a  roster will appear this week. After all, we have a game Saturday.

Meanwhile, if you are on the RF site, you might want to click on Tennis where you will find me, Fred Falcon, as I really am: in full Falcon regalia, promoting the tennis program, the  most up and  coming sport on the RF athletics scene. None of you other guys with your user names can  claim the authenticity I can. Stoutguy? Any fat guy will do--especially if he's bald. BadgerWarhawk? I've never seen a personification of the actual symbol. Padmofu? What is it? I rest my case.

I hasten to add to my above post that you'll have to be willing to wade through several clicks, first on Freddy Falcon twice, then thru a boring series of pictures showing the construction of the new tennis digs. However, at the end, like the frosting on the cake that you used to eat last when you were a kid, you'll be rewarded with the fredfalcon pictures!

One other requirement: you must be totally bored and entertainment starved.

Fred,

All those clicks and then all I got was a tiny inset picture of you and the head tennis coach?  I wish I had a 30" monitor so I could have actually made out who I was looking at.  Anyway, congrats on your new tennis facility.
Go Johnnies!!!

So is this what I am getting out of the conference so far...

Eau Claire's defense had a let down, but don't expect that type of performance the rest of the season. Also, it might be a toss up who has the better special teams, Oshkosh or Eau Claire with the Blugolds blocking 3 punts (are you serious?, what were the Johnnies practicing all week. Oh, thats right, offense...). Also, with Matt Evanson out for the rest of the year, who is going to step up and be the big play WR? That...will be very interesting and I do think that Eau Claire has some MAJOR offensive questions to answer. Perhaps they can be like Ohio St., in which there special teams and a good defense will give the Blugolds quality field possiesion so they don't have to go 70 or 80 yards down the field to score.

I have no clue what is up with Point, I thought they were a lot better then that. Yeah, it is against the number 4th team in the nation. But the game was at Point, and everybody that was at the media day conference knows that the Pointers not at all were talking about this game, but this upcoming game against Linfield. Is it possible they were overlooking the 4th team in the nation? Well, they learned there lesson, and I don't know with a defense like that if they have a chance against Linfield AT Linfield. Mark it, Point loses by 3 touchdowns in that game and starts the season 0-2.

Oh by the way...Whitewater just scored

For LaCrosse, DOMINATED by South Dakota State, a I-AA school. The Eagles only had 52 yards rushing all game. While giving up more then 350 yards (357 to be exact)! Though, the Eagles did pass for 338 yards, with Steve Tennies going 10-14, 96 yards. Though his one interception probably cost him the job, seeing that John Schumann was very impressive going 15-22, 242 yards, and a TD. I expect Schumann to be the starter, if or when Coach Terry makes the choice to go with one QB. (By the way, 10 DIFFERENT players caught a pass for LaCrosse)

oh look at that, Whitewater just scored...again

Oshkosh, Platteville, Stout wins deserve a nice golf clap. The competition was nowhere compared to EC's, SP, or LC's but hey..how can football programs like these get a chance to face those types of teams? Perhaps in the near future. Platteville's D impressed me. Oshkosh's running game and the deep passing game was nice to see, and Stout whooping on Upper Iowa was no surprise..Other then both QB's (Stokes and Tanner) threw 2 TD's a piece, and Tanner only had one incomplete pass. Jesse Wendt had a good day too, with 4 catches, 51 yards...and oh yeah 3 touchdowns receiving.

River Falls I hoped had a nice day off or a good day of practice

And finally the Whitewater game. Yeah...I don't know if there is really anything to say about that. Perhaps next year St.Norberts shows up, eh? Oh well, nice to see Derek Stanley (I thought he went to UW-Madison!) had over 100 yards catching balls, and holy cow Justin Jacobs, 12-18 for 295 yards passing and 4 TD's!!! I thought WW liked running the ball? Huh, I guess not anymore..

My player of the week is....a tie. I am giving game balls to WW QB Justin Jacobs, and the EC special teams.

What happened to Evanson?

Since UWRF starts a week later than everyone else, their eligibility list isn't due to their compliance officer until tomorrow at the earliest, so, FF, hold your fire for a couple of days yet.
