The band can't be there for NCAA tournament games.
Thats one of the lamest rules I have ever heard. I thought they were at the mary hardon Baylor ame last winter.

A lot of talk on this board about the Whitewater and St. Johns matchup but where are all the Stevens Point fans?

Does UWSP have any fans?
That's what I'm starting to wonder. If they do have fans, they're not here.

Oh I'm here and I'm excited for the game.  It's just that I don't get to see them in person hardly ever and I won't be there this week, so I don't exactly feel qualified to offer any educated opinions.  (Although that never seems to stop SJU and UWW fans.  ;)  I kid because I care).

The fact is UWSP is and likely will always be a basketball school first.  Once hoops is underway, it's a little harder to get the fan base fired up for football.  But, I'm sure they will be in full force on Saturday.

Some comforting 2008 stats for the purple and white:

Sacks:
UWW 20 (while giving up 9)
SJU 15 (while giving up 26!)

Fumbles:
UWW 12 (lost 4 of them)
SJU 29! (lost 11 of them)

Ints:
UWW forcing 16 (thowing away 9) +7
SJU forcing 10 (throwing away 13) - 3

Not so comforting:

Penalties: (UWW Fans....look away now!)
UWW 68-727
SJU 39-312

I wouldn't worry so much about the penalties.  UWW seems to have the firepower to make up for it.

SJU's fumbles are more from them than I've seen recently. But they did have 7 alone in the game against Concordia.

Assassin14

I'm gonna change the tone here for a moment.  Great season of WIAC football this year! Very exciting as a wide open conference race unfolded late into the season.   Best of luck to UWW and UWSP!  Go get em'

A Johnnie supporter and Warhawk fan collided in a huge accident on the freeway.  Both cars were a wreck, but both men were unhurt.  "This must be a sign from God that we are meant to be friends," said the Johnnie fan.

"I agree," replied the Warhawk supporter.

The Johnnie returned to the wreckage of his car, and found a bottle of whiskey he had been saving.  "Look," he said to the Warhawk, "this must be another sign from God.  We should drink this whiskey to celebrate our friendship and survival."  The Johnnie handed the bottle over to the Warhawk fan who took a large swig before passing it back to the Johnnie, who then put the top back on & returned the bottle to his car.

"Aren't you having any?" asked the Warhawk.

"No," replied the Johnnie, "I think I'll wait until the police get here."

SP information please: ???

Wartburg fans have been known to enjoy a brewsky or four during tailgate festivities prior to Knight football games.   ;D

How does the SP Police Dept. or the UWSP campus security view tailgating?  Where near the stadium should one park the Wartmobile to participate in said tailgating?
BE ORANGE

Just Bill

The stadium is off campus, so it will be Stevens Point's Finest you'd deal with.  I've never seen them around much, to be honest.  To be safe, I would recommend going with the Plastic Red Cup as opposed to the bottle with the label.

For parking there are four options:
- Little bitty lot next to hockey arena on north end of grandstand. Usually full early as the UWSP parents often tailgate there. If there's any hockey stuff going on this one will be full for sure.
- Bigger lot on the west side (visitors side) of the stadium. It's actually the parking lot for P.J. Jacobs Middle School and Mid-State Tech College.
- Big empty field on south end of stadium. No asphalt, just grass, but typically the gate is opened for parking.
- Street parking north and east of stadium. Depending on when you get there, you can get pretty close.  I wouldn't try drinking there though.  That would seem like you'd be asking for a nosy neighbor to call the cops on you.

I would be shocked if you had any issues, as long as you don't try to enter the gate with it.
