nice testimonial RW91...and fbf413  +K for the quality posts here and on the other boards!! I can tell they come from the heart.   :)

Though I attended UWW for a couple years, I graduated from a "rival" WIAC school...however, I have always considered myself a Warhawk first and that "other" school, a distant second.

Congratulations Warhawks!

I was totally impressed with how well you guys shot down Merben Woo. Plays that he'd been getting around the corner on all season were cut-off at the line of scrimmage or for short yardage. Shutting down the big plays that Willamette has lived by all season was huge in securing the UWW win.

I take some solace in the knowledge that several hundred UWW fans contributed to Oregon's economy this weekend. Great turnout, Warhawk fans!

uncle stealth, thanks for the non-stop efforts trying to get your nephews returned to their home, but as the saying goes - if you love someone, set them free, if they return to you, it was meant to be (or something like that)  :'(  - Daddy BoBo is going to give them some leash to get out on their own and create their own opportunities.  Should they begin the hang themselves with their new-found freedom, we can will rescue them.  I trust BearCatFan to keep an eye on them.

Did you folks who came out here have time to look around much? Like at Mt. Hood or the Oregon coast?

Once again, congrats on your win, although few doubted you.

I didn't have too much time out there.  Friday could have been a possibility to see some sights, but it was so dreary / drizzly that day, uh-uh.  Got a look at the Cascades after the game from a distance, which was cool.  Saw lots o' Christmas tree farms, though.

Yeah, all the rain we get is good for growing those trees and bigass slugs. Too bad the weather was lousy on Friday, but at least it wasn't pouring on Saturday.

Fixed.  Number 7 on defense for the Warhawks was ridiculous.  WU had to run away from him just to get things going.  My helmet sticker goes to Warhawk DB #7 for his plays against the run on the perimeter.

Thanks for the editorial work, wucatwu :)

I enrolled at UWW in the fall of 2002.  I can tell you all about how the program turned itself around.

1. Great facilities (a new wt. room, field house, athletic complex)
2. Coaches' ability to sell the school and the program (for me that was Coach Z)
3. Location (a short drive from Madison, Milwaukee, Kenosha & Racine - large communities with big high school and high levels of competition)
3. Commitment to the weightroom and off-season work by the players
4. Playing top shelf competition (MUC in 02 & 03, SJU in 02).
5. Whitewater's commitment to a quality education also helps with continued improvements to academic facilities.  They have nationally recognized schools of business and education.
6. Also, you have to keep in mind that the University of Wisconsin-Madison is the only scholarship football program in the state.  If you don't get recruited by them and you don't want to leave the state, you play for the 'Hawks.
7.  Like Woody Hayes used to say, "You win with people."  Above all else, we have GREAT PEOPLE, from players to coaches to boosters to adminstration to fans to the band to the local media and local businesses, etc.

Best choice I ever made.  I don't have a National Championship, but I know that I helped restore a great program and I helped  build something very special.  Go 'Hawks!

Nice post, 91.  But maybe you should delete #5.  Some posters on these boards, (namely Oxybob,) believe that the student population of UWW is comprised of a nothing but a bunch of academically underachieving C students.  Would hate to burst their bubble!   ;D

That would be Troney Shumpert a Junior defensive back who's been our shutdown corner this season.

Evidently that's what it takes for Oxyie to feel superior.  Sad...very, very sad.

"Troney Shumpert" ???

TELL me you are making that name up?  If that is truly his name, no wonder he is one tough/talented football player.   :)

badgerwarhawk

I'm not creative enough to make it up.

Finding replacements for the four defensive backs who graduated last year was one of the main challenges this year's team faced.   Not to take anything away from the other guys because they've played well but Shumpert has really jumped out.   He's been solid defending the pass and he doesn't hesitate to close and tackle running backs.

anyone had a chance to take a peek on the practice field yet? I know a ton of 'Hawks got banged up in Oregon.

I was just wondering who's still nursing their injuries and who is back on the playing field. Coppage? Donovan (I beleive he's alright though)? Ford? so on....

Now Duff, you know better than that.  Can't generalize about an entire school.  Like when people say that the Johnnie alumni are nothing but a bunch of arrogant, pompous a$$holes. Just isn't right!   ;) ;D
